Every JRPG is boring to an extend. Persona 5 at least has VN segment of dating girls. That spices up usual dungeon+boss segment runs.

The VN segments are the worst part, and the dungeons are so simplistic as to be completely unengaging. It makes the meaty part of the game insubstantial and adds a shitton of padding to make up for it. It's an awful formula.

SMT IV has its fair share of problems (bad difficulty curve, simplistic dungeons, poor stat system) but I still much prefer it to Persona since it actually focuses on the fun content.

Those are exactly whats most boring about the game. Every time a character opens his or her's big fucking mouth yapping about whatever mundane shit comes to mind. It's so fucking mind numbingly boring. I wish there was a mode where the entire game was just one palace after another.

I dunno, I recently start playing it (as my first SMT game btw, I never play any Persona or other Atlus games), and the only difficult for me was a tutorial and bad RNG sometimes.But overall atmosphere and music seems pretty great so far.
Also I heard that Persona 2 is great as well. Should I check it out after I beat SMTIV?

Atmosphere and music are a 10/10 in SMT IV, it's one of the things that makes the game worth playing IMO. If you like it, play Apocalypse afterwards because it's a straight improvement in most ways.

lost interest in apocolapyse after 16 hours. i get the improvements, but you really only needed party member improvements. Smirk was fine. And the atmosphere and soundtrack like you said, pretty much everything having to do with what you see and storywise are 100x better in apocolypse and i already know

I don't think there's a single thing in P5 i've genuinely enjoyed. Combat system is awful, it still feels like a direct downgrade over the fucking DDS with simplified buff routine and overpowered all-outs solving 99% of random encounters. Even the best designed dungeons like Kamoshida's or casino still feel incredibly bland. Bosses are too simple. Social simulation shit is even worse and i genuinely don't understand the people who actually enjoyed it. Story is extremely poorly paced, simplistic and generally all over the fucking place and i've made a huge mistake by expecting something in the vein of Gatchaman Crowds from it.
Even the fucking music started getting on my nerves around 50 hours in and it only became worse for the next 40 or so hours. There's only so many times you can listen to one fucking normal encounter theme before it gets old, in the same year as Automata or BOTW having music design of such an extremely low quality should be illegal.
