Anyway, the reason why this sort of tech never makes it out of R&D is usually because it's dangerous, impractical, and pricey. Literally the antithesis of the Engineering Holy Triumvirate.
They're cool toys that will kills you, costs more than a luxury care, and is absolutely impossible to implement in a military context. I don't remember the name of the thing in the webm but I remember it went nowhere precisely because any amount of lateral wind would knock it over.
Two other good examples of techs that's only cool on paper are the HZ1 Aerocycle and the XF-48 'Thunderscreech.' Projects that got discontinued because they were literally insane.
