Tell me user, why do you hate Witcher 3? Have you played the vanilla campaign and all the expansion?
I think TW3 is an amazing experience in terms of story and world. I thought the combat was boring and lackluster so I ended up playing on easiest difficulty so I could just mash past all the combat. I loved to engage in the dialogue and learn more about the world because of how beautiful and immersive it was. I got most of my enjoyment out of all the side quests that felt like more fleshed out than the actual main story of the game, and oh, the sheer amount of them, to think they'd put so much effort in side content. I collected all the gwent cards and beat every single opponent in all of northern realms and toussaint Whereas I didn't enjoy the combat I very much enjoyed roleplaying as an indomitable pale mutant monster hunter that is the witcher. I lived every piece of dialogue through Geralt and after all was said and done, it left me satisfied, retired in my own vineyard, I had good time with the game, solving mysteries, killing beasts and men alike and helping all the commonfolk and took their gratitude as my reward.
>Tell me user, why do you hate Witcher 3? because this is a shit game with broken mechanics, and CDPR are hacks Have you played the vanilla campaign and all the expansion? yes, expansions are a little bit better but still 7/10 at best
Colton Campbell
Because it dumps you in the middle of a story with shit storytelling and no introduction to characters. It's like playing the last third of kotor 2.
Dylan Martinez
You didn't play 1 and 2?
Eli Lewis
what if I told you the witcher 3 was actully the third game in the series
Kayden Lopez
Nah, why would I invest this mutch time into something I don't enjoy? You already admitted that the gameplay is bad, and in contrast to your infatuation with the world and characters I didn't like these aspects either. All in all it's overhyped polish junk without any redeeming qualities for me. Fuck poles!
Adrian Wilson
>shit game >7/10
Oliver Gomez
>combat is all there is to gameplay truly a brainlet statement you feel like its overhyped because you didn't like it? maybe your taste in games is just different and it's not the game's fault? now what masterpieces have you played lately?
David Ross
>He played witcher 3 but didn't play atleast witcher 2
Why? Witcher 2 is a fantastic fucking game and holds up. Played it on a 4k tv and it looks better than a lot of AAA games today.
Eli Jenkins
>I very much enjoyed roleplaying as an indomitable pale mutant monster hunter that is the witcher, helping all the commonfolk and took their gratitude as my reward so you didn't roleplay as a witcher?
John Johnson
>fantastic fucking game and holds up no... just no. get out of here and never come back
Kevin Watson
>shit game >7/10 Hello, Polygon
Isaiah Howard
>no argument dilate
Brody Gutierrez
I tried to do as goody two shoes run as possible I talked my way out of situations, didn't kill monsters if they weren't a threat, didn't take reward and let the peasants keep their money etc.
Cameron Powell
W-why? You're just doing a tough job for free at that point, and a dangerous one at that. Most of these peasants hate you anyway.
Brody Ward
Witcher 3's writing and story are only good if you've never read a book.
I implore you anons. You stupid fucking storyfags who want video games to be about story instead of gameplay.
PICK UP A BOOK AND READ.
PLEASE
Michael Hernandez
I don't hate it. It's not bad by any means. It's just overrated.
Benjamin Allen
I always wonder who the people are that want to limit an entire medium. The one with the most potential at storytelling as well.
Cooper Peterson
The combat sucks, which leads to bad gameplay. Gameplay is EVERYTHING and no amount of story or lore or world can save bad gameplay.
The one with the most potential for storytelling is a BOOK you retard. A video game's interaction is a gimmick that distracts and narrows the sort of storytelling available.
The art of the video game is in GAMEPLAY. It's in INTERACTION. Not storytelling. Keep the mediums separate so I can enjoy both, rather than having to sit through hack fraud writers who make things like The Last of Us.
Camden Green
The ones that I help don't hate me, changing the world one life at a time.
Blake Reyes
what are you doing here, go read books, retard
Chase Anderson
I don't hate it but I can simply can't stand the fact that every time I clic it does a random attack animation with a different delay and length for each animation. It's driving me insane and make the whole thing feel like shit.
>literature >writing >film >writing, visuals >games >writing, visuals, interactivity >therefore the medium with most potential is books
interaction and storytelling are not contradictive. If your primary storytelling device is cutscenes like TLoU then yes though Nier Automata, Lisa, Furi and Soma wouldn't work half as well in any other medium.
Carson Stewart
But none of those are good stories.
You cannot reliably relay the story to another human being. It's an experience more than a story.
Aerondight is already the best statted sword you'll get in the entire game, its infinite scaling is just a nice bonus
Nolan Kelly
>but none of those stories are good good that I was talking about storytelling and not story
Benjamin Cruz
Story is BEST experienced through writing. Anything CAN be used as a storytelling medium, but it doesn't mean it should. Carmack was right when he said story in a video game is like story in a porno. It's there because humans enjoy purpose behind action, even if that purpose is as simplistic as "shoot the bad guy."
