Daggerfall unity has come a long way
Cant wait for 1.0 finally
Daggerfall unity has come a long way
Can't wait to see the mods.
Starting up a game now to see new features
Not tried it out in a while
What race and class should I roll
what the fcuk is going on in the background? Those trees are gigantic
Is it actually playable now?
OG Dagger/fa/ background aesthetic
It does seem a bit odd with the increased view distance
I will make a mod that adds a Draugr time to the game. No memes. I will. Only Draugr.
I'm pretty sure the only features missing are some small things relating to the magic system
Its nearly complete
Only things missing are pretty minor to reach parity with classic, though there are already a number of mods and improvements beyond the original
According to the dev logs only the gravity/jumping physics are being worked on plus some fixes for magic and quests
>unity
>mods
Imagine multiplayer Daggerfall
Hey look, this poster has no idea what he's talking about. Everyone point and laugh!
>gets c&d'ed few days after release
>time later todd releases a remake which happens to look like exactly like this
How likely is this to happen?
Well Bethesda released it as freeware ages ago so I doubt they care what fans do
i don't think they'd be that jewish
didn't they already release it for free?
I was gonna wait for 1.0 but fuck it, downloading this shit now.
Its pretty good, thoroughly impressed by everything over Classic this far
is there a similar port for arena?
>2048x1152
absolutely soulless, but I looked into it and thank fuck they have a 320x200 mode, i wish more of these projects realised not everyone wants to play old games in fucking 4k widescreen
But how long will it take to go through the alpha and beta stages?
Is 1.0 going to contain everything from the original game?
So what's the difference between the unity version and og version besides different engine? Like is there tons of improvements?
post comfy Daggerfall screenshots
0.9 will be fully up to date with classic (not including new additions and bugfixes, many of which are already implemented)
They are nearly 0.9 now
Try it out side by side and see
Daggerfall unity site has the download link to the easy-to-install classic.exe with included “mods”
Some custom meme class that is immune to magic.
Is there save game compatibility between 0.9 and 1.0?
Its nearly Alpha which will mean it will have all features of classic Daggerfall
Post-alpha and beta is just adding and improving things
Also pic is an old map I made of vampire strains by region
Honestly I'm amazed with the things the devs did, especially with mods such as Tedious Travels and so on. I have to admit that Daggerfall with Unity is overtaking Morrowind when it comes to my personal ES favorites. Also, there are some excellent quest mods around now as well. The Roadmap is pretty amazing as well, Haven’t tried vampirism/Lycanthropy since they've been added fully so I'm looking forward to it since they've been reworked a lot.
What do you think about the revamp of skills, like climbing?
>the entire game world of Morrowind is as large as those islands on the south side of the coast.
I just want a prostitute mod
>tfw remove-nudity mods already but no sex mods
Thats gonna be a Yikes! from me dog
My favorite thing in DF is just picking a region as my home base for a while and grinding lots or rep there
I remember when all the New-Engine Daggerfall ports were just abandonware
Now DFUnity is nearly finished
Holy shit, bros. What is this tutorial dungeon? There is lethal shit in like every other room. I can't escape!
>tfw lowering in-dungeon ambient light to 0 and enabling item-based player lights (i think that's what the option is called?) for that authentic dark spooky dungeon feel
>that bit at the top of the stairs where you climbed through the crack
shiiieeeet, i didn't even see that. thanks user
This is how you have to play the whole game to avoid the save corruption bug.
People who claim to like this game are fucking hipsters who've never played more than a couple hours.
it's not bad it's just tedious as fuck
There's actually a platform beneath that wall with a lever. You stand on the platform and pull the lever which will raise the platform to the top.
I put 100 hours into my last save which inevitably broke, why do you think people want a unity port so bad?
Its not because we aren't aware of its flaws
You can skip the tutorial dungeon entirely through the game start settings in DFunity
>skipping the best part of the game
>using the anchor spell to teleport behind players and katana them
>gangs of levitating wizards murdering everyone they come across
>tricking newbies into getting killed by daggerfalls garbage weapon material requirement for magic enemies
>the occasional player obviously masturbaiting to a nude sprite
Perfection.
>skeleton screams behind you
Honestly daggerfall has always scared me but this is even worse
I'm replaying Morrowind with Rebirth, the only good Elder Scrolls.
sick. I'm in the middle of nowhere? I climbed up this hill from near that little lake down there. This is kinda fun.
>People who claim to like this game are fucking hipsters who've never played more than a couple hours.
Wrong.
youtube.com
I dont because I know the dungeon by heart now, but if you're a scrub you can skip it
Thanks brother, I am going to watch the linguist playthrough.
Hoping that next month puts it into Alpha so I can finally boot the game up and not feel like I'm missing out on anything.
You should use the world map to navigate around
You can check the dev progress journal, looks like its nearly all there as is
a town on top of the hill. That was convenient. Also, this point filtering is better than the weird N64 looking trilinear on low res look.
>How likely is this to happen?
It can't, because Daggerfall Unity is being built absolutely from scratch by brute reverse-engineering. There's is zero code from original. Bethesda can't do jack shit, and even if they'll try - they'll lose hard in court. DaggerXL was C&D'd badly by Bethseda because it used original assets, but Daggerfall Unity is made absolutely from nothing, zero, scratch, null, and there's nothing they could get sued for. Moreover, Daggerfgall Unity is open source, so...yeah.
Is this worth playing normally?
It sounds like the unity isn't feature complete so it'd be better to just play regular atm.
Yeah, I've been checking it every week just incase they sneaked in a cheeky mid-month update, just waiting out for it to be "feature complete" because im a sperg
>bring an old game's dated graphics up to speed
>being able to look past the appearance, we now see that it's a fucking bad game
oof off
Its very very close to feature complete
Only things missing are pretty minor
Probably in a month it will hit full Alpha
Welcome to the 90s, kid. That's what HARDCORE is all about. GROW UP AND BE. BETTER.
Immediately treats me like a piece of shit. 10/10 would politely ask for directions again.
The tutorial dungeon is the hardest level in the game
Oh shit, I guess I misunderstood.
Would you recommend it for a first playthrough or just like, play the original?
What? DF is great, it is the main reason Bethesda exists at all
When you start up a new PC go for all melee, one weapon-critchance-dodge as primary skills with other weapons/skills secondary
Tertiary doesn't matter much, put meme shit like languages there
At least in Classic the only languages I managed to use effectively were Orcish and Daedric
Ive not played too deep into the current build yet so its hard to say but you likely wont lose very much starting a new game in DFunity over classic
He IS an Agent, after all. ex-Thief turned Tiber's Champion.
no the dungeons with a pit filled with water and dreughs and the only escape is climbing back out are the hardest levels in the game
Unity is extremely easy to mod, my dear brainlet.
The advantages of running on C#.
This is precisely why you always bring a cheap levitation, water breathing and water walking spell everywhere, even if you're playing full melee and you also should have a anchor/recall spell for an easy exit out of dungeons
>t.
*enemies can open doors*
did they fix the bug that makes the opening dungeon nearly impossible?
>enemies can open doors but they are too dumb to pathfind to you
>empty open world map meme
Just started a new game and made it out no problem in like 5 minutes
Its more the dread of hearing that CREEEEEEEAK sound and turning about to see a monster rushing you at too speed
>Encounter imp in starting dungeon
>Starting weapon isn't good enough to fight it
>Try fighting it hand-to-hand, figuring they'd let me do it as a failsafe
>It works
>Mfw roundhouse kicking an imp to death
Sell me on Daggerfall.
whjat options did you select? i cant even rest without getting constant enemy spawns
>I'll prove him wrong by sucking eceleb cock
What about YOU user? It doesn't count if you watch someone else beat it, retard.
Rest somewhere hidden away
It's a TES game, but it's very different from the other TES games that came after it.
its not like that in vanilla
Its free and fun
it's free, try it or don't
Wereboars
What are some improvements to this from regular daggerfall?
Did anyone even like Daggerfall beyond "wow, so big"?
>get called out for not playing the game
>responds with a fucking streamer, proving his point
Good job, zoomer.
yes
It's the most open-world game ever created, in the entire history of video game making industry's existence. It's also de facto most largest open-world RPG genretitle ever existing out there to date. It's NOT the most largest video game per-say (ELITE II is that), but it's THE most largest RPG.
Don't worry, they'll come once Alpha hits.
To be fair, most of it is just procedurally generated hills and villages
It's a dungeon crawling life simulator. Buy a house or a boat and fuck off to the desert to hunt nymphs or commit genocide on orcs in orsinium.
It needs a full graphics replacement mod. None of that "oh let me just make hd textures for a couple objects" shit. With Unity you could even move towards replacing the sprites with 3d models and fully animated characters.
Imagine if Bethesda actually made a roleplaying game
There's already some decent mods, including an event mod (including sieges) and one that makes corpses/loot not degrade (meaning you can loot a dungeon, go sell shit, come back to loot more to sell)
Overall I like the depth/complexity of Daggerfall but the world is too empty. Once mods address this it should be good.
I love the look of the sprites at times but I wouldn't mind a full 3D world. The diceroll combat means you don't need fancy collision shit for weapons or anything either.
>those skeleton screams
holy fuck
Call it Draugrfall
>The diceroll combat means you don't need fancy collision shit for weapons or anything either.
Yet there isn't really anything to prevent one from implementing fancier combat. Imagine if modded Daggerfall ends up having better combat than Skyrim.
>enemies actively pathfind to doors just to open them
>lost in a dungeon
>can hear enemies opening doors SOMEWHERE
>loitering does not help stamina like in Morrowind
>pass out in the streets from exhaustion on my way to the tavern
>a guard chases me with a sword
>make it to the tavern and sleep
>no guards, no one seems upset at me
they take vagrancy seriously around here, jesus christ
I kinda wish there was an option to make the 3D dungeon map easier to use, namely by making the pivot point for camera rotation NOT your character's in-dungeon position.
>but it's THE most largest RPG.
Dwarf Fortress and Unreal World beg to differ.
Reminder to noobs that you should go a mage school and buy cure poison/disease spells. With the nearest town being days away from a dungeon they'll easily kill you. also stay away from spiders
It isn't really worth it
You should just make a new game inspired by daggerfall and make it better
It's probably easier too
They could still get sued over the story and names, which are trademarked. You can't, for example, just make a game using star wars' story or something like that just because you aren't using any assets from another game.
It's got some of the dankest midi music ever
>sued over the story and names, which are trademarked
Shit expired long time ago and wasn't renewed yet.
Want to know the best part? That’s actually Todd doing the screams.
>not being a part of the Generic Knightly Order™
Uthyval is pretty based.
Did they get the MIDI music to loop properly?
where are the sex mods
there are sex mods right
Aren't they tied to the Elder Scrolls series?
They aren't using any of that stuff though. You need Daggerfall as a separate thing to get the Unity version working.
>escape the tutorial dungeon after 30 minutes of near-death wandering because I didn't notice the tiny exit texture was interactable
>die from rabies while fast traveling to the nearest town
Are there nude numphs and nude priestess in Dibella temples like in the original?
>Brutal Daggerfall
is the world ready?
Look forward to open tes arena also getting closer to release. I actually liked Arena.
I liked Arena's art style more than DFs soulless CG renders
Enemy NPCs were cool as fuck with their visible equipment, monsters all looked more stylish and interesting and the snow biome villager girls were cute as fuck
And it had actual fucking ROADS outside of cities while Daggerfall is just same boring grass/desert/snow/swamp everywhere.
b-but arena doesn't have muh wacky kirkbird lore and no spaceships
is this going to get mods where someone actually fully fleshes out every npc and its like a giant everquest mmorpg?
Does Daggerfall?
Yes, why wouldn't there be?
What was the Daggerfal glitch that allows you to run really fast/punch and kick at the same time? Or am I thinking of a different game.
No kidding. When I first played, I once got attacked in a house by some thieves trying to steal a quest item I was delivering. I barely managed to kill them, and went to rest to recover HP. All of sudden I hear "HALT, HALT!" As the guards stepped past the corpses of my would-be muggers, I thought I was being arrested for murder. Nope, vagrancy. I spent three days in jail, and the quest recipient skipped town.
*Can't wait for porn mods
