Can you suggest some good racing game? Preferably sim-ish and with extensive customization. Wanted to play Forza Horizon, but I'm stuck on Windows 7

Forza Horizon isn't sim-ish at all.
tokyo xtreme racer and kaido racer 2.
Thank me later.
>extensive customization
Doesn't exist anymore. If you want simish game, get Project Cars 2.
From what I saw Forza Horizon had a pretty nice customization
But it isn't "sim-ish" at all. It's more like a Need For Speed game. Buy a PS3 and GT5.
get F1 2019 or 2018 if you're poor
no customization and little variety but best AI racing
project cars 2 is unplayable on a controller and it's shit on consoles
also AI is trash and on xbox too many ai drivers will break the game physics
>customization
good luck. just give up and go for full sims, you can gain seconds just by different suspension settings. try assetto corsa, it has all of the casual server stuff, nurburgring with newbies, shitter initial d akina, lots of places to have innocent fun
and yes, forza horizon 4 is great, it sounds like one of few modern titles that would fit your requirements. otherwise it's stuff like gran turismo 4 on emulator, old games like underground and whatnot
>just buy forza user everyone else is playing it and be sure to pick up some car parks and lootboxes so you can get that sweet dab emote
>tfw getting hyped with the ebin capeshit music while the commentator explains the circuit and starting grid with your name
You get them for free though. Honestly, the one thing i hate about fh4 is how it gives you way too much for free. You get lootboxes and free cars and whatnot, you have no time to appreciate slower cars because you can get fast ones from the start, you don't feel rewarded for fast cars because races are scaling to your car automatically. If only you'd be unable to win a race because your car is shit, if only you wouldn't get a million credits and sixty free cars right after finishing tutorial, this game would be so infinitely more fun.
>judging a game by how much shit it gives you as opposed to the quality of the actual game
typical forza player, the shitty physics, obnoxious voice clips and youtube vlogmusic dont matter because mommy mommy i get to dwive da fewwaaawi zoomy zoomy zooooooom nyyyyyyyyyyooooooooooom mommy mommy buy me a dab emote
Your fault for gaming on cucksoles lmao.
i'm not an insecure teenager anymore, so i can live with overall modern american culture and even halo references. but it's fine user, i think we might have different expectations about what video game should deliver, and there is nothing wrong with that
more like my fault for trusting SMS to make a decent game
wreckfest is more "sim ish" than horizon
Beam NG very sim with extensive modding
im not an insecure teenager either im 20
your expectations are wrong and you should stop perpetuating the death of racing games
as has been said, horizon is not much of a sim. play forza motorsport 7 if you want the sim experience from the series. other good games are asetto corsa, dirt rally 2.0, gran turismo 4, beam ng drive, and, richard burns rally. out of these i would say gran turismo 4 is my favourite. visual customization isn't much in these games, but if you want that you should maybe look at need for speed.
whats the "diving under tractor cunt and ruining chassis aesthetics forever with halo" of video games?
World of Warcraft
just get Assetto Corsa and mod it
Forza Motorsport 7 for sim-cade experience, Horizon 4 for arcade experience, Assetto Corsa for sim experience, iRacing for sim experience and extensive online multiplayer.
is iRacing the game with the highest skill ceiling ever?
you may be competing against divorced boomers or literally max verstappen
It's amazing.
pretty much, at the highest levels of iRacing you can easily find ex-GT3 drivers, ex-LMP drivers, Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, etc I've watched a few videos of them racing and you need to be a fucking driving wizard to even know /how/ they are faster than you, let alone trying to overtake them.
and then thing is, iRacing has very competent physics, def on the top 3 of sims, so the big question is, if you race in the same virtual league of fucking Max Verstappen, the only thing stopping you from having a career in any motorsport is money lmao not saying iRacing is like real life btw, but at least you can get some early experience for something line a minor touring league
that must feel super frustrating, to know that you can drive well but can't do shit because how expensive it is
so much for judging gameplay by youtube videos
how high is the barrier for entry in asetto?
barrier of entry for assetto is a decent wheel, I would say no less then a Logitech g25/27/92(0). They have kinda meh force feedback but decent pedals. Thrustmaster low budget stuff has way better force feedback but terrible pedals, luckily they are interchangable with high priced brakes. Also it is barely a game but a full blown sim rather.
>how high is the barrier for entry in asetto?
shitters are crashing on public servers all the time, you'll feel right at home no matter how bad you are. then you can buy some shitty $40 driving force gt and have decent fun until you get into it properly
but even a perfect simulator doesn't simulate the fear, the Gs, the pressure to perform well, the fucking heat, and you can't practice really much on real cars
I'd say sims are more useful to learn general racing concepts and the tracks
just your average sim game, you need a wheel, like the other user said with a average wheel and pedals you are set, don't need anything fancy to enjoy it, assetto also has online multiplayer, but its barebones, its more of a singleplayer/hot lapping game, also very good mod compatibilty, there are tons of it.
if you are looking for something extra, both Dirt Rally 1 and 2 are very good rally sims and have career mode.
>project cars 2 is unplayable on a controller
No it's not. I play with a Xbone pad and it's perfectly fine, didn't even need to tweak the settings much.
thats why i put the spoiler, sims are good for concepts, driving lines, braking zones and knowledge of tracks, that can help a lot, the big teams at F1 and other sports usually have a league of their own on the sims to filter the potentially good racers, hell, there are some GT3 drivers that started with fukken Gran Turismo tournaments and stuff
20 years old is pretty much still a teenager
yeah but the sims used by F1 teams are either propertary or based on rfactor pro which is more like a framework where they can build their own sim with their data
i'd say weight balance and car control is a general racing concept. i've been playing sims a lot, when i finally got my first rwd (during the winter), i felt right at home, been very much in control, having fun, going sideways pretty much from a get go. it's obviously not 1:1, but basic skills are very transferrable. also, stuff like g-forces is nothing but a bother in a real car until you'll get a bucket seat, it doesn't help you drive, it just throws you around and strains your back. now i'm hitting track days a lot, conefagging, and i strongly believe that sims had helped me massively with learning certain skills.
it also worked the other way around
>been playing sims
>started doing rental gokarts a lot
>suddenly i'm cutting my times in sims massively
well, yeah, but you get my point.
talking about those sims, this one from Porsche is pretty impresive:
even Chris Harris, a GT3 pilot with many nurburgrings on his belt was struggling with it, very impressive technology
this Dallara simulator costs 12k$ a day to run
Then upgrade to Windows 10 you fucking idiot, are you too retarded to do that or something? What the fuck is wrong with you?
>HURR DURR MY SPYING, I'M SURE BILL GATES IS PERSONALLY INTERESTED IN WATCHING ME MASTURBATE
Yeah I'm sure he is, I'm sure he has nothing better to do with his time, and you realise you can turn off pretty much the entirety of this data reporting if you want to, right? Or are you too stupid to do that too?
>HURR DURR I JUST WANT TO BE A CONTRARIAN WEIRDO WHO LOOKS SPECIAL BECAUSE I'M USING TEN YEAR OLD SOFTWARE
Yeah, thought so.
I believe Ferrari's sim is made by the same company who made Assetto Corsa isn't it?
>pilot
I can tell English isn't your native language. Nothing bad about that, of course - your English is clearly vastly better than my terrible knowledge of foreign languages, but I've always found it weird that languages like Spanish refer to drivers as "pilots". I guess it's not that weird really, just interesting.
>max verstappen and lando norris
>tfw raced rubens barrichello at FR2.0 two years ago at interlagos
>won
haha yeah, I'm a Spaniard, its a known false friend here in Spain; Pilot = Piloto, which can mean racing driver, and also, aircraft pilot, just synonyms and false friends shenanigans
most romance languages have a word similar to "pilot" (pilota, piloto, pilote, etc...)
interestingly, bus driver in italian is "autista"
I want to see J.f.k racing Kevin spacey on a suv
Why do you people always need to lunge shit at others for their own fucking choice and act superior? If you're okay with this shit - fine, that's your business, don't tell me what do.
store.steampowered.com
>racing
>mecha
>customization out the ass
It's worth every penny.
>DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO
>LOOK AT ME I'M A CHILD SHITTING HIS PANTS AND I WANT EVERYBODY TO PAY ATTENTION TO ME
>LOOK EVERYBODY I'M USING OBSOLETE SHIT SOFTWARE AND THAT MAKES ME DIFFERENT AND SPECIAL
Fucking idiot.
If it is so shit just let him be and do your thing. Its the same thing with every product nowadays. People are told like they need new this and new that and there seems to be no end. Forza isn't even that good of a sim and is very much designed for consoles and they'll be shitting new Forza every year.
>LOOK AT ME EVERYBODY I'M SO COOL BECAUSE I USE TEN YEAR OLD OUTDATED SOFTWARE
I run Arch Linux on my laptop, with muh bleeding edge latest upstream software. Does it grant me forgiveness for using blasphemous ancient Windows 7, a stable trusty OS that stood the test of time and that never let me down?
what's even funnier is that nobody in this whole thread except you didn't give a damn about me using win 7. This gives us two options: either you are a complete idiot or a troll. If it's the latter, then you are bad and can't troll for shit
>LOOK AT ME EVERYBODY I'M SO COOL BECAUSE I USE TEN YEAR OLD OUTDATED SOFTWARE
>look at me, I'm a broken record
I use windows 10 and I fucking hate it. Every single update breaks something important. I had to look up how to disabled these "updates" and had to go through my registry just to do it. Fuck windows 10.
>LOOK AT ME EVERYBODY I'M SO COOL BECAUSE I USE TEN YEAR OLD OUTDATED SOFTWARE
is this a fucking bot or something?
Nope, I'm just pointing out how much of a fucking idiot you are.
Hey if it makes me cool to enjoy things that don't break, then great. When will I finally have sex?
and you are an autist because you numbered the edgy kid pictures
Why don't you go and be fucking idiots somewhere else?
>liking things that don't break makes me an idiot
So do I have to use things that are purposely shitty in order to become smart? I want to be included on the epic normalfag meetup memo.
>DUDE LOOK AT ME I'M SO COOL BECAUSE I USE SHITTY AND OBJECTIVELY WORSE OBSOLETE SOFTWARE
because it's like a zoo, but instead of a tiger or an elephant I'm looking at an autist with numbered pictures
name 3 objective qualities which make 10 better than 7 or eat a dick
Why is it worse? The last W10 update I got broke all filetype associations for videos with programs that I use. I've never had an issue like this even remotely close in W7.
>a GT3 pilot with many nurburgrings on his belt
kek no. He did have a past racing career long long ago but only got the seat now as an influencer/car reviewer. And the class he raced in was not even GT3.
>DUDE LOOK AT ME BECAUSE I USE OBJECTIVELY WORSE AND OBSOLETE SOFTWARE
Are you gonna answer my question or just keep deflecting?
>Forza Horizon 3
>Forza Horizon 4
>Forza Motorsport 7
inb4
>i-i don't like these games anyway
cope.
He exchanged all of his braincells for pictures with kids.
forza games aren't qualities of the operating system you hopless brainlet
>qualities of W10
>They have exclusives!
Nice. Epic. I like it.
which puts him at roughly 8 braincells
Stop projecting, you damn loser.
wow it's like Windows 7 doesn't have DX12 and can't run UWP games or something.
1. Gran Turismo SPORT but you'd have to buy PS4. Its fucking great. There are official FIA approved tournaments.
2. Assetto Corsa - best simulation
3. Project Cars 1/2
4. F1 2019/2018
>more exclusive shit
Look I know we're on the video games board but we don't only talk about video games here. I'm asking for reasons why W10 as on OS (not a gaming platform) is superior to W7 as an OS. Good games (even a lot) are not enough to make me regret switching just like good games aren't going to make get a console.
wow, so many exclusives
Cope. It's doesn't matter 1 or 100 games, you still cucked yourself out of playing these games.
How about you name some of Windows 7 qualities to justify the lack of these games.
>doesn't break with every other update
>can turn off updates if you wish very easily
>doesn't phone home every two seconds
>PC options generally easier to manage
>doesn't come with a million bells and whistles that you have to hope you can turn off
>UI is a lot simpler, no big pictures for mega-retards
I'm sure there's more but that's all I could think of off the top of my head.
HEY CHECK OUT THE SPECIAL SHOP!
Get assetto Corsa competizionex, customizing is stupid and nobody will ever car what your car looks like ever
It doesn't update whenever it wants
I don't need to clean it every time it updates and restores all the bloat
My drawing tablet driver actually works in win 7
thing is, while nobody else cares, I do. I like customization in games a lot, even in singleplayer. It might seem silly, but it's a creative outlet nonetheless
it is sim-ish. arcade games don’t let you autistically mess with every aspect of tuning, swap out engines, control driving assists, and don’t have a semi-realistic steering option. it sits comfortably in between need for speed and gran turismo. and it’s actually fun unlike real sims.

>LOGITECH G29 ON SALE TODAY PRIME
LOGITECH G29 ON SALE TODAY PRIME DAY DAY
thanks for the heads-up, but unfortunately it's not on sale where I live, in fact here I can buy a missile car and crash it into a lamppost for a price of two G29s
Well PC2 you can custom livery otherwise fuck off, it’s a waste of time grow out of it
>doesn't break with every other update
You wish
>can turn off updates if you wish very easily
you can do the same on Windows 10
>doesn't phone home every two seconds
You wish. XPtards said the same thing about Windows 7 spying and even XP did have some spying rumors back then.
>doesn't come with a million bells and whistles that you have to hope you can turn off
It does compare to XP all competitors of the time
>UI is a lot simpler, no big pictures for mega-retards
It's your opinion i can't argue with that
>lost argument
>ur a troll
That's too old gramp everybody use have sex now
Yeah sorry I thought you died.
So I listed why I thought W7 is better, so now it's your turn.
what was there?
Asseto Corsa if your looking for a sim game. They don't really have extensive customization but there is an large and very extensive modding scene.
It was just me gloating about "outliving the troll" but he posted a minute later. Oops.
Seconding this.
>tfw playing though TXR3 and Drift 2 for the umpteenth time
They emulate well enough even played both of them on my potato, need to sort settings due to the engine being weird with resolution though or else you get obnoxious lines though it. If you have a PS2 lying around they're both dirt cheap too last I checked.
kk
It’s a simcade with all the assists turned off but it can’t touch something like Iracing
I would play this
As i pointed out. All of these applied to Windows 7 too.
Windows is the same shits as always. The different is Windows 7 doesn't get new features and gonna reach EOL next year.
If i really want something stable and a bit more up to date i would pick Windows 8.1 (assuming you hate Windows 10 LTSB/LTSC meme).
Oh fuck Pc bros can’t even keep the peace with each other
Why did they drop W8 support so quickly? I forget. All I remember is people saying it was dogshit so I never looked into it.
They still support it until 2023 but it's still really short because no one use it.
>the big teams at F1 and other sports usually have a league of their own on the sims to filter the potentially good racers
The F1 e-sports league uses the Codemasters F1 games, with proper wheel and pedal rigs and full realism.
Pretty much all the major teams are fielding teams this year, the winner gets $500,000.
I'm sure that there are more games that do NOT work or have issues on Windows 10..
I don't think "pretty sure" is good enough for me famalan.
>>can turn off updates if you wish very easily
Well you're in luck, Windows 7 won't be getting ANY more updates in six months time!
tick tock
The codemasters game is very very casual compared to driving a real F1 car in Assetto Corsa. Look it up on Youtube, it's almost impossible to drive a modern F1 car without a engineer helping you out over radio.
Thats bullshit. Physical aspect aside, Lando Norris said cars are much easier to drive irl than in F1 2019 where they are wirdly floaty. Kevin Magnussen also said thay you can just point the front where you want to go and get on throttle and the car will follow.
Assetto Corsa has old F1 cars so it's not a great comparison, and I wouldn't call mods made by some slav in his basement "realistic"
it's not very casual, they're the closest simulation besides ac and rfactor2
F1 cars in "sims" like pcars2 are trash
the codies f1 games have in their favor being actual games with a good career mode and competent AI
you're not "racing" an F1 car if you just do hotlaps with tyre degradation disabled
