I still don't know who this guy is and what the fuck he wanted to do to this day
He needed more eyes
From the wiki:
>Micolash, Host of the Nightmare, was most likely a former student of Byrgenwerth, until he went insane after contacting the Great Ones by using the Mensis Cage. He implies that he is aware of the Dream World.
>A popular theory about the Nightmare of Mensis, and Micolash in particular, is that all beings found in the Nightmare are people that attempted to make contact with the Great Ones. The Mensis Cage placed on one's head traps the thoughts of its bearer, and upon their death, are immersed into the dream as themselves or other freakish incarnations. This might explain Micolash's death quote "Now, I'm waking up, I'll forget everything." as his consciousness exists only in the Nightmare, and that upon being freed he will awake to find only his own corpse.
>Despite his title, "Host of the Nightmare", he seems to have little to no control over the Nightmare of Mensis. Instead, perhaps he is, in a way, the one to blame for its creation.
Bloodborne story is retarded, I've beaten the game twice + DLC and still don't know what was going on.
YOU TAKE THE MOON AND YOU TAKE THE SON
Moon -> raises tides -> ocean rises -> fish and fish gods come closer to shore -> catch them
It's kinda meant to be that way. You play as a foreigner showing up at a strange land with lots of weird things going on.
Just because you can kill everything in your path it doesn't mean that you're in a position to understand what's going on.
>Why is he summoning the moon if he's trying to reach a sea monster?
>"When the red moon hangs low, the line between man and beast is blurred. And when the Great Ones descend, a womb will be blessed with child."
So summoning the Red Moon establishes contact with Kos.
>a former student of Byrgenwerth
This is baseless, Mensis was another branch of the Healing Church. It's one of two of the highest strata of the Church, the other being the Choir. He was a leader of the School of Mensis.
The rest is more or less true. His consciousness was in a Nightmare, and killing him there could have awakened him in the Walking World. But he was already dead in Yahar'gul. He probably doesn't know about it, because he expected to "wake up".
you fight him simply because he has a health bar. You learn absolutely nothing about him beforehand and he doesn't even pick a fight. Oh wait, this is because his original story is cut content, just like everything was rushed after Vicar.
No really, want to know what Bloodborne is? You see Dark Souls 1 and how it had a bad later half? Well Bloodborne gets rid of obtaining the four lord souls!... but it still has a bad last half, just on top of a terrible last half the length of the game is halved. It's Dark Souls 1 if 2/3 of the game was shit
>just like everything was rushed after Vicar.
Nothing feels rushed, this is such a retarded meme.
It's not the game's fault you are so ADHD riddled you can't even understand the plot.
> You see Dark Souls 1 and how it had a bad later half?
No, because I'm not a bandwagoning NPC. The only bad areas are Lost Izalith and a section of the Duke's Archive.
>It's Dark Souls 1 if 2/3 of the game was shit
The the Old Hunters nullifies this shitty argument.
This shit happens to LITERALLY EVERY GAME EVER MADE. I am so sick of hearing about "the cut content that could've been". It's part of the process. They lay out all the shit they would like to do, and pick what they feel is most important. Is it better for the game? Debatable. Is it better for business? Every time.
The game's been extensively datamined, both the retail version and an alpha showcased the Tokyo Game Show a year earlier, and it basically confirms that nothing makes any sense in Bloodborne because the entire game has been shuffled around and rewritten so many times.
>nothing makes any sense in Bloodborne
Again, you never paid attention to the narrative.
For example, OP's question is easily answered by the TGS build.
bloodborne-wiki.com
Kos is "Fallen Child of the Moon". There's the connection "Kos" (now Ebrietas) has to the Moon and the reason the School of _Mensis_ is interested her. They just never bothered to record new dialogue for Micolash after renaming Kos to Ebrietas and scrapping her connection to the Moon.
Kos...
Almost all of that is baseless assumptions.
Datamining unfinished content doesn't prove anything. If you took all the stuff data mined as canon it makes no sense considering how much unused stuff there is for Lawrence that doesn't line up with his final character. You can't data mine shit they never intended you to see and use it to assume things given the way From makes games. They constantly change the story through development.
How does the Bloodborne datamining work anyway? Was that all stuff that From burned into the discs? Or did they release them in other ways?
If it made it into the discs, then it's all open for datamining.
Do you have a better explanation for a faction based around the moon, performing a ritual that brings out the moon in order to call out to something that has no connections to the moon?
I'm not trying to argue that cut content is canon, just that final the game was left with a bunch of holes and inconsistencies because of it.
>"When the red moon hangs low, the line between man and beast is blurred. And when the Great Ones descend [...]"
There's your answer.
Red Moon > Greats Ones can ascend > contact with Kos is now possible
*descend
>do you have an explanation
Of course they don’t, Fromdrones will defend anything Miyazaki shits out. They didn’t even cut content properly, you still have the Yharnam stone and betrothal ring in the game.
network test version (like their past souls network test versions) has lots of alpha leftovers, also the 1.0 original release also has a ton of leftovers
>micolash
>Host of the nightmare
>Host
>of the nightmare
>kill Host of the nightmare
>nightmare is still there
also Nobody cares about your meme game
>story taht's all just a dream
>boss betrays you and revealed as the antagonist (wow didn't see that coming)
>guns yet can't increase amount of ammo you can hold by a decent amount
>can't dual weild guns
>doesn't allow you to play like a tps yet includes guns
>aliens out of nowhere
>Yharnam stone and betrothal ring
These aren't cut content. They are useless, like the pendant in DaS1, but they provide greater context to the world. The Yharnam Stone is a lithopedion of the unborn child of Queen Yharnam, who is Mergo. The ring also shows how the practice of marrying Great Ones was a thing in pthumerian society.
>>kill Host of the nightmare
>>nightmare is still there
being a host is not synonymous with being a creator, ESLnigger
So that you can fight some cool bosses
>they aren’t cut content
Lol, you can even find leftover dialogue from the Queen of Cainhurst after getting the stone. Ditto with the ring. Abortion and marriage were big themes of the game, but were scrapped and replaced with shitty labyrinths.
>you can even find leftover dialogue from the Queen of Cainhurst after getting the stone
Datamines are not canon and aren't relevant, autist.
> Abortion and marriage were big themes of the game
*are still big themes in the game
You must be seriously impaired if you don't think that is the case. The entire backbone of the lore is how Great Ones conceive children that die soon after, and seek human surrogates instead.
If you use the rechterplashe or whatever from Cainhurst you actually can have two guns plus a stabber.
>replying to bait
for what purpose?
I kinda just skimmed it and noticed the dual wielding part.
There are a few people that genuinely wanted that for some reason.
how the hell do u wake up dead
moon controls water irl
I always assumed that Kos was their backup plan after the Moon shat out a horrible abomination instead of whatever it was they were trying to be reborn as. Like, if the red moon doesnt work then maybe the yellow moon would
sneed, or some say chuck
I'll show you
>Datamines are not canon and aren't relevant, autist.
He is not saying anything about them being cannon you inbred. He is saying that large chunks of the game appear nonsensical/borked because of the content that was cut.
The datamines point out that the ring and the stone were meant to be more than just flavor text and have an actual function that would further help to explain/clarify the story. Meaning that the game was meant to have X,Y and Z but Z was cut and now X and Y appear to be full of hole/inconsistencies. That is all.
Get insight virginblood.
rom is LITERALLY retarded
Which makes being more retarded than him quite an achievement.
because the sea is just space on earth
People are data mining the fucking data test that was released before the game was even done and taking that as fact despite the fact that many things changed. Gas coin doesn't say Umbasa in the final version for example but these types of fags just ignore all this because they want more Bloodborne story and answers but they aren't going to get them.
Half your complaints are that an RPG hack and slash isn't a shooter
Fuck off
>>guns yet can't increase amount of ammo you can hold by a decent amount
You can have thirty bullets, tap for more and heal the damage and use runes that replenish them on viscerals which you should be getting with guns. If you couldn't keep enough ammo for a gun build you're a tard.
Because when you go to sleep you're alive.
whoah
ding ding
Bloodborne threads are like watching people with aggressive memory loss shout angrily at one another these days
It's fucking aliens!
Their brains got fried when they tried to proceed with the ritual at some point. It's why everyone has turned to corpses on chairs. Micolash was the only one to "survive" but his consciousness is stuck in the Nightmare of Mensis, and has absolutely no idea what happened to him or his School, hence he thinks he'll "wake up".
Nicolash was a student from byrgenwerth, for some reason a greate one chose him to be the host of the nitghmare of mensis, leting him absorb knowledge investigating the nitghmare, he may be in the nitghmatre for houndreds of years knowing that the body that you find after beating the one reborn is actualy nicolash own body, hey may know who kos is and waht is all the deal whit the hunters judging by the shit that he speaks in the bossfight
>trust in me, i have the equivalent of a university degree in bloodborne lore
Student form the curch*
I was saying student of the church
>a popular theory is
i dont want fan theories I want to know what the fuck it really is
Because Miyazaki read untranslated western literature without understanding english when he was a teen, so now he thinks stories not making sense is cool.
You're out of luck then. If there was an undeniable ingame confirmation, it would be out already.
You want to know what Nightmares are? They're distorted projections of the Waking World, that is it. It's even explained ingame. People don't make them, they just exist or are conceived by Great Ones (see: Hunter's Dream).
Thats the point its subtle, and the monsters got relegated to a second plane by the main theme which is about the duality of idealism and pragmatism, the two main simbols in the game are blood(the almost hedonist way of living, the easy route the escapism one even, but with a long term curse), and insight( which gets you, with a lot of cost, to the real true, the thing that its stablished to be the real way to ascend to a superior plane of perception to be a 'great one'), at least thats what i kinda got from it.
Moon is egg
Ur the sperm
>poison knife on quick bar
Why?
No, that user is correct.
The plot of Bloodborne, as in what happens from opening-cutscene to credits barely makes any fucking sense. The lore and workdbuilding is fantastic, but the events that unfold in the present are a incredibly rushed attempt to make *anything* that guided the player through the game.
Originally Laurence was not the founder of the church, but you (the player/Hunter)’s travelling companion, and your primary objective after waking up was to find him. Which would lead you to Healing Church, then Byrgenwerth. ALSO in the cutscene with Willem talking to Laurence, originally you could see Laurence (all they did in final release was cut the visuals completly over that shot) and guess what he looked like? It was litterally the model used for Micolash. Plus Micolash is credited (in final game) with two voice actors, the guy who actually voices him and also the guy who voices Laurence. There’s also shitloads of cut dialogue about Gehrman and Laurence having some kind of arrangement, and Laurence is taking too long (a single super rare piece of dialogue still exists in final game), thier ultimate goal was to kill The Moon Presance.
It’s only speculation, but it seems very likely in my opinion that the original story for Bloodborne was basically this
> travel to strange city with friend named Laurence for cure to disease (remember how this was written EVERYWHERE in pre-release promotional material but is never actually mentioned in-game)
> you end up in coma for a month, while you were out the hunt has been tearing city apart, Laurence is gone
> try find Laurence
> search leads you to Healing Ward/Grand Cathederal, revelation that Laurence is actually in deep with Yharnam shit
> then go to Byrgenwerth, Mensis ritual is revealed
> go into nightmare, city gets cosmically dream-moon nuked
> you’ve found Laurence, but he’s gone batshit insane
> complete the ritual yourself, becoming able to kill The Moon Presance
YOU TAKE EVERYTHING THAT SEEMS LIKE EYES
