Maybe darkui - but really you should go in modless. It's plenty complicated already and the worthwhile mods just build additional systems onto the game.

Play it vanilla, but there are a bunch of cool mods you can add later, such as more combat animations, darker nights, super fucking strong monstrosities and more bounties, all in all, add shit that will get your party wrecked if you fuck up. It's fun

I tried it, and I gotta say. You have to be able to play this like a true hobby to get anywhere. I'm talking 500 hours. I didn't see how that's worth it when its mechanics aren't that rewarding. Although if you already like this genre you might be more into it. Also the base game is complex and the mods don't make it any easier to understand. Truly the genius NEET's game.

I played for 24 hours, made a small outpost , fended off attacks for awhile. Just felt burnt out and haven't played in a long time. I honestly couldn't recommend it .

These are all pretty much a must-have and add features that should really have been in the base game. Unleash the Hair is nice too, but it just 'fixes' a visual issue of hair disappearing if you wear a bandana, so it's not necessary or anything.

There's a mod that compresses the textures at virtually no graphical expense. It reduces load times hugely, makes the game a lot more smooth. Other than that I'd go vanilla at first- get the intended experience, then decide after if you want to start making things different.

Pretty sure it's something along the lines of 'compressed textures' but I only heard about it after I was done with Kenshi. Shouldn't be hard to find anyway.

i played 236 hours before the final map quarter was released and killed every big boss and i can assure you most of those hours werent on the same save file
