Dragon Quest Builders 2

Pastor Al is the most based character of all time but I couldn’t find a picture of him. Anyways, how are you enjoying the game?

Is there any purpose for leftover Heartwood blocks from Furrowfield? I got some from the baboon enemies while I was farming them for Bark.

>learned to make a small bathroom
>every morning after breakfast everyone waits in line to take a shit

Had to make a second bathroom after that. When do I get to wear something different, or at least a fucking hat? Or at least multiplayer?

Does it actually run terrible in portable mode on switch? Or are the complaints exaggerated?

It's good.
I keep trying to place every track that plays. Basically, the game has no OST and all the songs are from mainline games.

For example, the song that plays when you first lay out the blueprint to rebuild the Deitree after its destroyed, after having returned from the island you glided to where the corrupted tree was, is a song from DQ4 that only plays in one room, the preparation room before the Endor arena.
youtube.com/watch?v=nUR2W6jrB5U

Does anyone know the song that plays when you *first* meet Pastor Al? It sounds like dungeon music from one of the games but I couldn't find which one it was.

also the Isle of Awakening music when you first wake up is youtube.com/watch?v=0EXItBeo288

I'm not linking the obvious ones, like the battle theme being DQ2's, the invasion theme being DQ4's regular battle theme, and the overworld on the first island being DQ6's overworld theme.
I guess I'm the only one autistic about the songs. I haven't even played the entire main series

That song is so beautiful, especially the version from the symphonic suite.

MC's voice is EXTREMELY annoying, especially when you finish a quest and he starts doing his cheer.

YAAY
YAAHAAA
YAAY
YAAHAAA
YAAY
YAAHAAA

Is it possible to multiplayer with Randoms?

Is this like Minecraft but with actual content?

I had to make 3 bathrooms because theyd spend most of the day in that fucking line

Finish the farm island unlock multiplayer / hat

Some big monster drop recipe for new armor

Weirdly addicting, good time waster. C+.
There are a few quality things I wish it had.
There are alot of build this room quests I wish there was a quick checklist that shows exact number of item because I can't count how many times I forgot what I need to finish a room and had to find the npc again a try to interpret what they actually mean its often unclear. I have a bad memory. There's a option show blueprints why not would let me see active quests.
They need a better visual indicator of your base boundaries that you can toggle on and off. On the first island I had to rebuild alot of buildings because I didn't know they wouldn't interact outside of base boundaries. Also the boundaries are too small.
Have talk mapped to same button as switch item is hugely irritating.
A fast skip for all dialog, there is just too much pointless dialog.

It’s like minecraft with actual content, good story and pretty good npc AI

I forgot the crafting table needs a search option. Because it sometimes puts objects in categories that don't make sense. villager register why is it furniture?

COR BLIMEY BUILDA LULUS WENT AND SHOVED A PERRIWINKLE UP HER MINGE WE NEED YA TAH BUILD US A FUCKIN WINCH AND RIP THAT BAD SUCKAH OUTA THERE

Me and my wife were looking for a good coop game. If we haven't played the DQ games would this be playable?

Attached: 911.jpg (576x548, 95K)

Pretty sure it doesn’t have local-coop

I only play it in portable mode, I don't see any problems other than maybe the load times.

it doesn't have local co-op

I don't think it has local co-op, and unless y'all wanna get it twice and beat the first island first to play multiplayer together.

Pastor Al was definitely a bro-tier character. Loved his little arc

Attached: DQII_Magus.png (300x256, 118K)

I'll buy a second switch if it's actually playable. We are seriously starved for good coop games. I haven't found a decent coop game in years.

When loading a new area the framerate always tanks. But if you are in familiar area it pretty solid. It does frequently have small dips. It rarely drops to an unplayable level but you certainly feel it when it does.

Gonna be blunt with you chief
I don’t think u can co-op on story island, just your own island

Guys how do I get my people to make me food in the kitchen? I'm on chapter 2 but no ones cooking? The last game you just made a kitchen and they'd go to town, what am I doing wrong?

Attached: 1562969800766.png (1067x858, 174K)

why the FUCK don't they make coop games anymore. I fucking hate this shit. Has anyone played a decent coop game in the last 10 years?!

Attached: fuckubro.png (700x884, 1.21M)

You need to put raw resource in the chest dum dum

I made the kitchen the girl wanted in the first chapter and they go to town

Not him but god dammit. I was planning on doing that with my siblings. What's there to do on Lulutopia?

>what’s there to do on lulutopia
A lot

Aw, but I don't wanna. Do I gotta keep restocking it? It's alot more doable in chapter 1 when I can make crops and just drop a metric fuckton of food in a chest and call it a day, but do I gotta refill it every morning if I want them to eat? I'm also in chapter 2, and there's no way to farm to my knowledge.

Me and my wife played Outward together before she lost all her stuff in the mines when I was at work. Died 3 times trying to get her stuff back/ getting out of the caves so she gave up. I don't blame her, I gave up for a while after bandits raped me and took all my shit and made me work in their underground mine. Seriously, fuck game is unforgiving and unfair.

I rarely have to restock. Just dump a lot of raw mat there like Wheat

>chap 2
Oh yeah you cant farm.
Booze > food

>Builder can level up
Feels weird after all of those lectures Rubiss gave me in DQB1
I also miss being able to easily break all the ground

>crops will be gone forever once you harvest them enough times

Kind of scared to harvest now. Is there a reliable way to get more seeds? Also do trees ever grow back? Can I even plant trees?

monsters drop seeds

i dont have the game yet but thats what i read in a previous thread

Again, chapter 2, I got 23 hungry body builders and all I can get is vine apples and mushrooms, there's no farming to my knowledge in this chapter. I mean I guess it dosn't really matter, i' still progressing normally whether they eat or not, but it's just kinda lane that i'm building like 3 bars and every time they head there to eat there conplaining about starving.

So is it bad or does it just require a ton of skill?

I think once you harvest enough the crops will drop seeds so you just need to replant them

I haven't tested this I've heard after four times, and yes you can plant trees.

Really? I'm interested to hear about the people that actually use the switch in portable modes. The commercials all seem like memes to me, no one does that shit. I've seen two people using it portably in public. One was an obese fatass that probably smelled as bad as he looked, the other was some weird 19 year old chubby chick with a pixie cut that tried to insert herself into a conversation to scold a coworker of mine for being audibly(and rightfully) upset that our flight out had been cancelled for the third time today.

>gets cucked by bandits in a video game in front of his wife
KEK

There are 3 orcs that respawn every day that you can kill and they drop a stack of 10 random seeds.
Spoilsports also spawn on a random day and when you break them they also drop a random seed.

WHEN DO I GET MY CAR!

Should I try to complete the tablet quest asap or wait till I've done the story islands?

Ehhhhhhhh, it's alright. So the framerate does basically stay at around 25 fps, especially when there's a ton of shit on screen (chapter 2 hasn't been fairing to well) but nothing that has stopped my enjoyment so far. If you're looking for a higher framerate, the ps4 version I hear hits 60 fps. I have also only played in handheld mode so far, so I can't speak for docked mode.

Pastor Al is based on an enemy known as a Magus
Look up dragon quest magus for pictures of him

Why bros, why did he have to go

Because civilized monsters are objectively cooler than humans

I was so looking forward to have him on my island

Attached: 1523479334151.png (487x598, 529K)

Look here you fucking shills, the only way I'll think about buying this is if you post the boy naked, so either do it or stop wasting both our time

Me too, user
Me too.
Maybe i’ll build a grave for him after I get done with Crumbledump

>Doing some exploring
>Look at the big blue water and think to myself "what happens if I go out there?"
>start gliding out there then get spooked shitless and turn back only to smack into a wall
>"Malicious monster draws near"
>oh my sweet dear fuck no
>Giant merman comes at me like a bat outta hell
>Desperately trying to find my way back on land panic consumes me
>Sucks me into a whirlpool and I start swinging my little knife like a madman
>The knife instagibs the merman and I am able to get back on land before another could reach me

The poison knife is busted and I haven't stooped using it since

Attached: 1503987407779.gif (160x140, 1.02M)

You can put him in a towel and even make that just his cosmetic armor so you can wear nice armor that just looks like a towel
No pics tho cause I’m not gay

I’ve found WAY better weapons than it but I still use it as my cosmetic weapon skin out of respect

Thinking Yea Forums tan sitting on a bench.png

where can I find cursed equipment and how do I breed pets?

omg I haven't even ran into any of that stuff. Just how big is this game?

>he is literally normal magus
>can't find a picture
I hate those secondaries

Attached: DQIX_-_Magus.png (271x234, 86K)

It is nice that there's more story to the islands than the first game, which only really had meaty arcs in the second and fourth chapters.

there's three major story islands and a couple of smaller ones in addition to the isle of awakening and a handful of islands meant just for gathering resources
you can find animals and recruit monsters on the non-story islands
the last two trophies I need involve using cursed equipment which I haven't found and breeding a pet that's a different color or something (can't find much info)

That's because this is a different Builders. The one Rubiss revived was given the explicit purpose of just building and only fighting the lesser monsters, but not the Dragonlord. Hard to tell if the Builder of 2 is connected, or even shares the Erdick bloodline like the first Builder did. Though that does raise the question, how did the princess end up popping out the ancestors of the party from DQII if the original hero she shacked up with was a nutjob running to who know where?

I just started playing the demo of this today and... well... how do I put this.... Lulu bossing me around... is kind of lewd....

And it'll only get lewder when you return with the knowledge of how to make bathrooms and collect her shit every day

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 comes out tomorrow, that has local co-op.

I already made it so that my bed was directly next to hers and malroth's was on the other side of the room....

I never played any other Dq except 11 thanks for this.

I was going to buy DQB2 to play while I was in the hospital for surgery and tests. But it's too heavy and rectangular so it digs into my palms and hurts my hands. I'm really upset though I wanted something comfy to do there.

Do I ever get to see the monsters from the ship in the intro ever again? Or are they dead?
Do I get to make friends with any monsters at all??

Handheld user here, awful loading times but outside of that I have had no problems at all. All the "poor fps" stuff I've been shown is giant island megacities which I'm way too lazy to do, all that terraforming.

I mean on the switch I'm playing it on my ps4 now.

I'm only on the second island but you meet a crazy wizard guy who seems friendly. I went to an online island and I could ride a saber cat.

Can you build any structure you want like in Minecraft?

Yes

I want to hold down Brittney and increase the population of my island.

I'm on the first island and just spent 20 minutes making a 2nd story addition to the farmer's house so I could move beds upstairs and have downstairs be a common room or some shit, but it doesn't count as being part of the first room I built. It doesn't even count as being a room, period. I already put in beds and a light to at least try to make it it's own room but that didn't work. Are multi-story buildings even feasible in this game?

I have build several multi story buildings, but they count as sperate rooms (they cant be part of the rooms on the other floors)

There has to be a door on the 2nd floor for a room to be made

If you are still here user, God Eater 3 came out a few days ago and I think you can co-op the entire campaign, me and my friend did it with GE 1 and 2.

Oh alright thanks, you would think the room requirements list would show doors as being required.

>tfw unsure of how to deal with the topography of the isle of awakening
Fuck, the grass seeds require the land to be level and I want to build villages but everything is so uneven.

Hammer everything relatively flat if you want. Though you may need the upgraded hammer from the 2nd island

hows the whole making a self sufficient and armed town? i liked making a fort in kenshi that made food/armor and just explored with my main guy, is that shit similar to the town+ai stuff

Been thinking of getting this, just have one question, do you lose all your progress every time you go to a new area like the first one?

Nope, you keep everything. You also have a personal island to develop on. Each story area takes place on a separate island with it's own gimmick as well.

i enjoyed the first one but on the second island i quit i was getting bored of restarting from scratch and the missions which were just build this exactly or go here and get thing

I love seeing residents clap when new people arrive into your town after levelling it up.

Ah, the format is a little different in Builders 2. While Builders 1 had "chapters", Builders 2 has "islands". So when you go to Island 1, you have to start from scratch there, but all the stuff you can find there can be brought back to your "main" island that you can do whatever with. When you go to Island 2, you start that from scratch too, but the stuff you find there can be brought back to your main island to further improve it as well.

You should get unlimited mushroom sticks from the mushroom kitchen.

>spend a good 10 minutes putting together the first level of the Deitree
>Banana: oi, Builder, now the 'ole village 'as the capacity to put summat together for ya, m8
>feel rage

Attached: 1562965540167m.jpg (1024x576, 43K)

They tell you to just put down 50 blocks of bark and they'll handle the rest speedreader-kun

>DQB1 only happened because the MC got railroaded by cryptic dudes his entire life and only chose no because he was curious like a lot of people that play JRPGs
>your character is going to 'die' because it's the end of the game and you're probably gonna play something else
It had a neat little send off in the final chapter where it poked fun at the series, a shame they felt the need to put IT WAS ALL A DREAM BTW after the credits.

Attached: 1476686093729.gif (244x244, 46K)

It doesn't seem like DQB2 is in the same timeline as DQB1 what with one of the skeletons in the boat mentioning he used to serve Dragonlord before he got his shit slapped by some hero

This

Reached the gold ruins in chapter 2, this game have no rights to be this good.
also i saw a giant troll from afar in the cavern but i noped the fuck out of here, should i go to it now or will i get wrecked?

>not Goldirox

>its a prison break episode
Holy fuck this game is 10/10

Attached: 1466435040655.jpg (700x500, 86K)

This should be arriving tomorrow for my Switch. Any game breaking bugs or spoiler free brotips?

ME LOOK SILLY

Dont build too close or high to the deitrees land, when it finally grows your work could be destroyed.

Towns get more self-sufficient as you upgrade them from being barely able to wipe their ass to harvesting and finding shit you need and helping out with blueprints.

Making them armed is basically a necessity since Malroth is basically your DPS and MC has good durability but average damage output so you're reliant on pure saturation; giving every NPC that can pick up a stick the best weapon you can craft so they can kill shit fast enough to minimize or prevent damage to the shit you build.

>that MC
Looks weird as fuck for a Toriyama character. Same thing for main cast of dq11 characters. Is Toriyama still designing them?

>mfw barely planned out my shit
>little girl asks me to make her a room
>aight didn't have much room left in town after building a bunch of toilets and baths and bedrooms but there's space near that gray square thing in the center of town with the tree
>later get to building the deitree
>tells me to pour water into little built in canals in the tree
>descend back to surface
>water flooded the little girl's room

Attached: 1560567038348.jpg (434x405, 24K)

The desert area is so annoying. Nobody makes food like the first town. I have a kitche and everything but people just run to the bar and complain about being hungry every morning.

He haven't designed dq related shit since dq8

I hated Minecraft but loved Terraria.

Would i like this game?

Attached: Autism.png (568x433, 122K)

Ye

He is, yes. Still the same routine, Horii sketches them and Toriyama draws them in his style. You can see their notes on the dqxi character art.

I think you will be fine. All the super strong monsters that I have encountered so far have been tough but not out of my league. I can tell you from experience that troll is not as bad as he looks

Is this game worth getting for multiplayer? pls respond

Source on their notes if you have it

it's the docked mode on switch that is shitty. the resolution is obviously too high for the switch to handle. in portable mode it's honestly fine.
went back to DQ1 on Switch to compare and the difference is night and day - DQ1 is obviously lower-res while docked, but feels like it runs twice as well

How do I get more track on the second island? Do I need to find Iron ore?

Switch is coming in the mail today and im picking this up after work.
What am I in for boys?

Yes.
Or there's racks of track you can knock down scattered around the cave.

Getting sidetracked and building yourself a mansion to lord over your peasants while ignoring the game's actual objectives.

Yeah I got it done anyway thanks dude

Why is the first village so fucking small? I can't even build stuff because the village is so small. Is there a way to make it bigger?

How do I stop the chickens from running around freely in my island?
Help me bros

Attached: 1563203315479.png (252x432, 169K)

Where the fuck does cord come from? I ran out of it after building stuff on my island and for the life of me can't find more. I know in the first game you'd make it from ivy but that doesn't seem to be the case this time around.

Add more blocks I guess

>5 hours in and the game is still a linear tutorial

Does the game ever actually become a a sandbox builder or is it just a jrpg with a building mechanic tacked on?

You can expand your village

Build an animal pen, a field growing wheatgrass. That should keep them in one place.

cutting ivy should automatically give you cord.

Divinity os 1 and 2
Kane and Lynch
Warhammer vermintide
Far cry series
Splinter cell series
Dead space 3
Lost planet series
DOOM
Duke Nukem forever
Forza horizon 4
Ghost recon series
The division 1 and 2

most of those are shitty or old so you're kinda proving his point

Well I found out you can make a pet house with pet bedding, a pet bowl, and a haystack. Apparently if you raise two pets' happiness levels to 100 and then give them a rare strawberry they might breed. I haven't gotten that far yet but I guess it's random chance for the rare colored pet.
As for cursed equipment, you have to make it. I got a recipe for a cursed sword from the orc in the defiled isle and armor somewhere I don't remember. You need orichalcum and metal slime drops to make them. If you equip the cursed sword and then use a changing mirror to equip a falcon blade you end up with the most powerful weapon in the game and no curse.

Question for anybody on the second island. I'm currently expanding the mine after upgrading my hammer and have entered a portion of caves that is mostly flooded. The miners asked me to stop the source of water, but when I went up to the ceiling and plugged up the water where the marker pointed me to and stopped the flow the quest didnt update and the miners are still just standing around asking me to plug up the leak. Do I have to put specific blocks or something? Or have I encountered a glitch?

You need to put blocks over the holes the water was coming through, not the source.
I made a similar mistake, I sucked all the water up using my jug and got stuck there for 10 mins until I figured out what they wanted.

Just play deep rock galactic lad

Ah okay, thank you.
