Why the fuck havent you switched to team red?

Why the fuck havent you switched to team red?

Look at the reviews and benchmarks, Intel will need atleast 3 years to catch up

The time is now

I'm already on team red

You mean the benchmarks that show AMD gets btfo yet again?

Attached: cpu benchmark2.png (703x712, 79K)

Im buying parts now, but Im still trying to decide on which route to take. I'd heard AMD wasnt the best choice if you were tyring for emulation and whatnot.

Doesn't the 9900k cost like 150 bucks more while also having security issues?

>3900x
Nobody cares. 3700x is where it's at for price/performance.

How is the support for Linux? I know the graphics drivers are really good but dunno about CPU support.

Not sold on the 5700 but I'm pretty sure I'll go Ryzen. I haven't seen any good OC articles to see whether it's worth going for the 3800x is worth it over the 3700 yet though.

Not to mention doesn't even include a cooler.

I was actually thinking of going full team red but i'm worried Navi is gonna be blunted by the Supers card refresh

It costs 170 bucks more than the 3700x while having only marginally better performance.
3900x costs the same and is therefore kind of redundant.

because they're bugged to shit. early adoptors getting btfo'd hard.

i'm used to garbage stock coolers with Intel, so the idea of using stock is completely foreign

I'll get a 3700x as soon as some b450 mobos with the updated bios get released

I switched to a first gen Ryzen 5 a year ago, and I'm happy enough that I dont feel a need to upgrade.
That said I dont think I'll ever go back to their GPUs, especially since they have worst/louder fans and take up more power than nvidia, and I'm skeptical after hearing that the Radeon 7 will already be ditched soon

Can i play with older games with that? I still use a dual core and a gtx 9 something from 2006.

i'm on skylake with good ol' ddr3 since 2015 - i'd have to shell out shiteload of shekels for mobo/ram. I will eventually (or buy incel for peanuts - whichever will have a better pricetag and only if jewtel is factory-soldered)

because my 9600k can out perform all these new amd processors in gaming and only wannabe streamers are buying this shit

yes

>tried to get a Ryzen 9 3900x
>sold out all over the fucking place
Is the 7 3800x still good? will it be compatible with a asrockx570 motherboard? Please help I'm an incredibly ignorant boomer that's trying to follow a guide to building a PC for the first time

Attached: 1315349171501.jpg (600x753, 102K)

Based ryzen bro

3600
b450

I wish they would put more effort into there gpu's

>building a PC for the first time
nice bro, don't worry, just take your time. that CPU that you're wanting to purchase is also damn good. You can go to pcpartpicker.com and it'll tell you all sorts of information, including if your parts are incompatible. remember to take your time!

>Is the 7 3800x still good?
It's overpriced considering the performance difference to the 3700x
>will it be compatible with a asrockx570
Yes but you might have to manually update the bios yourself.

>only 6 threads
>in 2019
fucking lol

Ok, good to know. Thanks guys.

If you want to pay for my build let's go the time is now

>security issues
lol are you talking about spectre and meltdown? because those are fundamental flaws with all CPUs

Hey

Tips: Use pc-part-picker

Also be comfortable with sending back shit if things don't work out. Any problems, even minor, send the part back to where you bought it asap.

Also building yourself saves tons of money in the long run. The markup on pre builts is fucking insane.

Attached: Clipboard01.png (949x858, 88K)

This really doesn't matter because the coolers are garbage. The 3700X and up might be ok but the lower end ones are loud as fuck.

Just replying again to say that PC part picker website is incredible for a simp like me. Appreciate the point-to a ton

Spectre yes is a problem with all CPUs (maybe not early PPC CPUs though) but Meltdown is only Intel Inside™

>team
>making processors equivalent of a console war
yes YEESSSSS

Attached: 1553717150542.jpg (588x647, 109K)

Do I still need ram with higher clockspeed with the new ryzen release? RAM here cost quite a lot and kinda negate the savings I got from choosing ryzen over an Intel cpu.

Have you ever been on /g/? They're almost worse than this shitheap when it comes to warring about their favorite billion dollar companies.

no there were more vulnerabilities found.
you literally need to disable hyperthreading on all Intel CPUs that were made previously if you want security.

But theyre mostly loser adults doing it. Not kids who had mommy buy them a console to play third party games

Got a ryzen 5 1600 and a gt1030, hopefully it's enough to play Minecraft

Attached: 1556837841124.png (239x352, 124K)

If money is an issue, what's the problem? Ryzen + new ram would still save you that money compared to Intel + new ram.

9900K is immune to zombieload
also until someone can find something in the wild exploiting those vulnerabilities they are irrelevant and you can safely keep hyperthreading on

>gt1030
>literally worse than a 750ti
For what fucking purpose?

Because I'm not a bandwagoning pajeet

oh wow, I thought the 3900X was a 12 core, what a let down.

I'm going to return my b450 tomahawk. reading about all the problems users are having like their entire board dying and some other shit, I didn't pay to fucking gamble. but I am also the retard for early adopting.

Thanks for betatesting ;)

I am waiting for b450 tomahawk max

Wasn't in stock at my local best buy :(

I just recieved my 3700x/msi b540, replacing my i5 3570k/asrock z77 mobo. I haven't made the change yet, what should i expect?

Attached: GettingPlayed.gif (245x167, 943K)

yeah I didn't even bother to test the board myself but it sounds like a major PITA to deal with the potential fuck ups occurring. hopefully the MAX doesn't cost more just for the extra 16MB.

Why not get something used? You could get a card that blows the absolute fuck out of that for pretty cheap and would allow you to play modern games at playable FPS.

no switching, just staying. i had two or three intels in my life, rest was all amd
i had a bulldozer, god it was a pain. i was just about to switch to intels, but then ryzen kicked in. i'm glad they nailed it this time

>there are still fucking Intel shills in 2019
Even at high end AMD is blowing them out. It's fucking pathetic. SAO let's go through this
AMD is...
>cheaper
>better performance in none gaming related activity
>NOW better in performance in gaming
>has much smaller market share
>not own by lazy fucking Jews

What is sad is most of you morons will have Intel by default simply because of their marketshare and being used in most pre-built pc's by default. So the only logical reason anyone supports Intel is because they have a pre built and are too stupid to update their computer.

>All the 3xxx series are sold out day one in my town.
>Online preorder take two weeks of waiting.
>every store CS keep recommending me shitty 9900 or 9700
I GOT A B350 BOARD YOU DUMB FUCK BITCH, WHY DO I HAVE TO BOUGHT ANOTHER BOARD IF I JUST WANT TO UPGRADE MY CPU!

3700 or 3800?

Attached: 1545174580310.jpg (474x444, 37K)

Don’t need to switch as long as games still don’t max out my i7 from something like 7 years ago.

>buying in a store for graphics cards
Are people really this fucking stupid? It's not the 90s anymore moron.

hey you bunch of autists, i'm using a ryzen 5 2600 paired with a 1050ti and i can run any game i want on high. It's even fine with video editing and rendering why do you need a ryzen 9 for ?

No one on cl was selling gpus and I didnt wait to wait for shipping

my 7600k does fine for now, I'll probably go red when I upgrade unless intel just decides to get its shit together
>lmao 4c/4t corelet
not an issue for me so far

3700 is far, far better value for every use case.
Though if gaming is the only intensive thing you use your PC for then honestly a 3600 would make more sense, by the time games can use 16 threads it will be next next gen and you'll be due for a CPU upgrade anyway.

if you have a 350 you just upgraded retard.
literally wait until next year and upgrade for half the price it would be today

I honestly don't know why people would buy one of those for gaming either. Even a regular 3600 isn't going to bottleneck any of the strongest GPUs out there.

If they match online prices what's the problem? You could have it at that very moment and if there's a problem you could return it easily.

I'm running 4 VMware windows OS running MMO with self made hardware macro bots in it while playing vidya on my original windows.

3900x out of stock literally everywhere.

THAT'S LITERALLY WHAT I SAID YOU FAG!!
BUT THESE CS BITCH KEEP SHILLING ME INTEL SHIT WHEN I ONLY NEED TO UPGRADE MY CPU!

Attached: 1205949569801.jpg (460x650, 111K)

for what purpose would you need an 3900x?

Attached: e781896e0c.jpg (500x500, 46K)

>emulation
Yeah, I've heard that AMD cpus had some issues with some emulators but I don't know if it's true or not.

4K encoding, multiple virtual machines, etc. PCs do more than just games.

If you actually own a PC for more than gaming, than you will know.

Yeah my 2600k at 4.4 still works fine too. I'm honestly tired of not upgrading for almost a decade but I might just get a 2060 super and wait until 2021 so a full ten years before upgrading to a new CPU.

The issues are that they typically don't perform quite as well as they should, compared to a similar Intel CPU. Has to do with hardware-based virtualization features that are Intel exclusive. AMD have similar features but don't get used as much because Intel has higher marketshare.

It only makes a difference when emulating 'newer' consoles like CEMU and RPCS3, everything else runs perfectly fine.

only true for select emulators such as zsnes and ssf as those were designed with intel cpus in mind. however both have better replacements which run ok on amd (intel is still better but not by much)

I got a ryzen 5 2600 and an RX 580 nitro 8gb, it hasn't let me down so far, ever.
I used to be an intel+gtx lad for years before this build and i really don't think i will ever go back.

Attached: 1562994391387.jpg (442x670, 197K)

they're both companies that don't give a fuck about you and only want your money. stop this fucking "amd is the good guy" bullshit.

Attached: 1516360168498.jpg (253x296, 20K)

Switched last year. 2700x keeping up good performance.

What an incredibly original hot take. This surely hasn't been said in literally every thread wherein people prefer one company's products over another. I can't wait for school to start again.

>1080p
lmao grandpa, still playing at 60hz too?

3900x wasn't built for gaming

also, the fact that the numbers are that close in games, while having a much larger gap in productivity, makes the 9900k a bad purchase. you're essentially paying roughly the same cost for about 5-8 more frames on average, while getting absolutely btfo in everything else. and i'm not even including the perks from pcie4.

anyone that buys a 9900k at this point is pants on head fucking retarded.

Bragging rights of course.

What % performance we talking about between 3700 and 3600? Like 5?

yes

are you playing everything on ultra? with the current prime sale, I'd be able to 2600x, board, 16gb 3200 and an 8gb 580 for $600.

curious if this is something that would last 5-6 years.

I'm still torn between a 3700x and a 9700k.
It seems like Intel generally performs better in games, but is worse at everything else.
I care a bit about the other stuff but my main focus is gaming.

Yeah, and if you have to choose between getting skinned alive and shooting yourself in the head, who cares right? I mean they'll both kill you.

Attached: 1455510589784.jpg (250x250, 10K)

same clocks?
same price?
same cores?
3600 ram?

p
You're right, it should be tested at 720p or 480p so the GPU bottleneck is eliminated

I'm still using their Team Green era shit.
Been meaning to upgrade from Phenom II after the Bullshitdozer proved disappointing.

if you can get a 9700k on sale, go for it. it's not abysmal by any means in work situations, while still having higher single core performance over the 3700x. if all you do is game w/ lite utility(streaming, game recording, browsing while gaming, photoshop) the 9700k is the better choice.

it's currently $364 on amazon, but i'm waiting to see if intel gets off their lazy nigger asses and drops it to $320 or $299.

Well do you run a lot of background tasks, browsers, vids, etc. go for the 3700x

My 7700k seems fine still. Maybe in a few years. We will see what intel cooks up too. It's a shame the GPU market is filled with so many side grade cards these days. Only card that's really stood out is the 2080ti.

Should I upgrade from 1600 to 3600 or 3700x? I have the absolute cheapest b350 which I was also sorta wishing to upgrade for a while now, and now it seems like I have an excuse to do so. My 1600 works perfectly fine and Im happy with it, but it doesn't pull the max out of my 1080ti. And also Im feeling like buying shit for myself again

Give me 4 games that are even worth playing on the fucking PC

good argument for ryzens is futureproofing. intel is getting worse and worse with security fixes and whatnot, ryzens are 8/16 and usually they're less affected by newly discovered vulnerabilities. so, in a year or two it might turn out that ryzens are doing very well while 9700k gets bullied. plus games are finally being properly threaded, so you might gain something from those 16 threads in the future.

but overall, basic rule applies. check the benchmarks of stuff (vidya) you care about, see the performance, compare prices of parts, pick the objectively superior option. if 9700k dominates 3700x in your usage scenarios, intel it is

The CPU is still good but why the hell would you get that GPU

For gaming, yes. Exceptionally few games can even use more than the 6c/12t in the 3600, so getting a 3700 is kind of a waste. 3700 is better for streaming, encoding huge videos, etc. Unless you're just looking to play CSGO at 500+fps with everything low @ 720p then your GPU will always be the bottleneck. Only possible exceptions are notoriously poorly optimized games like PUBG and ARMA3.

3700x, do it.

Attached: 1373036920706.gif (308x250, 1.08M)

Heard AMD was shit on older gmes and any games that uses more on a single thread like Arma or STALKER or Total War. How true is this?

Yeah, stood out for being marked up to well north of a thousand bucks.

Attached: Clipboard01.png (955x884, 296K)

>AMD was shit on older gmes
This is completely false and has never been true. Software and OS can matter for older games but the brand of CPU absolutely does not.

Seriously, consider shopping around for graphics cards on eBay or Taobao/AliExpress if you feel brave enough Gwailo. You can usually score a low profile/PCI-E only card for dirt cheap if you know how to hunt. I got a R7 350 and and OEM R7 350X for $25 flat and ~$15 respectively when they usually go for twice that amount. I'm just hoarding those and a couple of other shitty parts in a drawer to sell off in the near future.

Every single multiplat at non-slideshow frame rates.

I'm fine with my I7-8700K, haven't really had a single issue with running games on ultra. So maybe later. 7% extra single thread power doesn't feel worth it.

Attached: 1231244521.jpg (500x245, 24K)

It's way way too early to upgrade an 8700k. you'll be good for another 5 years.

I do some programming and game development, and I like keeping browsers/videos open on the side while I play. I also like vidya emulation. Are any of those things that are benefit a lot from AMD?

what about games that leaves the load on a single thread and uses the others as supplement?

Anyone got MSI B350 gaming pro board here?
Is the new BIOS stable?

I got a Ryzen 2600 recently to replace my old and ailing 2500k. It's some fucking great shit for the money I've paid.

Look how bad Ryzen sucks for gaming

youtube.com/watch?v=6b-QDHU_tbM

That slower framerate
WOW!

>479
Good luck running it without a cooler.

3700x would be the better choice, but I think rcps3 has better performance with the 9700k. not a lot of info out on the 3000 series w/ ps3 emulation, but you could check r/rpcs3 and see what they've been saying.

The new Zen 2 ryzens actually have better single core performance in most games, than intel.so that isn't true anymore either. Most games old enough to not even have dual core support usually don't need a super strong CPU anyway.

if hes talking about the FX series its true, crysis for example is tough to get 60 fps

Yes i am playing everything on ULTRA so far, my 2600 is overclocked to 4ghz but that's all i've done, my ram is 16gb at 3000ghz.

So far it has been able to run everything at ultra with 60fps or more at 1080p (sometimes higher with supersampling).

Games i've tried
DMC5
Sekiro
FFXV
AC origins (only game that averages 40fps on ultra settings but that's because of horrible optimization on ubisoft's part)
Ni No Kuni 2
Fallout 4
Rise of the tomb raider
Mass effect andromeda
Vampyr
Resident Evil 2 Remake
Xenobalde X and BOTW on CEMU

That's all i've tried so far and the build handled them easily at ultra. I doubt it will keep hitting 60fps that easily once the next gen consoles release but i am guessing that even 1440p/1080p at stable 30 or more will be achievable easily.

So it depends, if you're satisfied with 1080p/60fps go for it, if you're a 4k gamer, a rx 580 won't last you 5-6 years.

Hope i helped bro.

>my $500 cpu beats this $320 cpu
yeah man, cool

Do unironic shintel drones really still exist?

Attached: 1499869872773.jpg (691x771, 112K)

Then yes, the FX series were shit for games. Very low IPC that their high core counts couldn't make up for. Zen 1 is an astronomical step up from that, and now Zen 2 is a decent step above 1 and 1+.

see

Ryzen can run Dolphin just fine.
youtube.com/watch?v=BCQSNAqWlq8

yeah, I plan on sticking with 1080p until 4k is costco cheap. you said even FF15 is ultra w/ over 60fps? that's big if true.

think i'll go with the 2600x. that current deal is too good to pass on.

Spectre can only be used in ryzen if you have access to the hardware. While intel can be used remotely.

Yes, the older Zen chips are a steal now. Everyone is obsessed with having something newly released so vendors tend to clear out stock quickly.

Yeah i was able to run FFXV with every setting maxed at 60 with very few slow downs when moving to new big areas due to not having an SSD so my hard disk was shitting itself.

Temperatures are amazing too, cpu with stock cooler doesn't go over 55-65 under heavy load and 580 doesn't go above 60c after tinkering with its fans on wattman, although the card is safe even at 80c.

It's a good build.

i wouldnt say astronomical on the low end, like a ryzen 1200 vs a fx 8350, the fx will beat it in many games that do multicore right. I'm still on FX cuz im a cheapo fuck and don't want to upgrade my entire pc just yet, also play consoles and have other hobbies like guitar. It still works well just some huge AAA games are a big no no like assassin's creed or whatever

thanks, i'm gonna go with this. was waiting for the 3600x, but those x570 boards are still too pricey and i'm not in the mood for using jank ass bios updates to make it work.

I've bought 1700 just a month ago or so. Gonna upgrade to 3xxx someday, but t runs almost everything i want it to, one single exception is rpcs3 gran turismo 5 that runs at cinematic 24fps in bigger races. I'm running ridiculous vr setup featuring four to five cameras and two separate programs to process image data in real time - i had a vishera before the upgrade and it was begging for mercy, barely working at all, dropping frames in games, losing tracking. Problems gone on ryzen, 30% cpu load, won't even spin cpu fans too fast. First gen ryzen isn't as great as 3xxx, but i'd say it's a great deal for now. Dirt cheap, same mobos as zen2 (so future upgrade is reduced to cpu change), delivers some decent performance.

>that do multicore right
Which is very few, especially when the 8350 actually launched. Hell, games were just starting to use quad cores back then.
Plus an 8350 had almost double the launch price and is far less energy efficient, with significantly worse single core performance.

Because I'm not a poorfag and I use my PC purely for gaming. If you sit there compressing and unzipping shit all day good for you, enjoy your meme brick.

Intel is literally apple tier now
You're paying more for worse performance, it's a fashion brand for uneducated retards.

why are we getting downgraded nowadays

There's currently a systemd bug plaguing newer operating systems due to a cpu related bug. According to phoronix, older lts builds should be fine even with newer kernels. The bug would be fixed through a future bios update as per amd.

I used to buy AMD shit for years and got so sick of shitty microstutter, roasting hot GPUs and CPUs, just because this generation they're actually decent again doesn't mean shit. How is it worse performance for gaming when I'm literally getting better benches with Intel in my games you spastic.

I'm on a 8700k, hopefully it'll last me a while yet and Intel wakes up in the meantime.
Don't want to sully myself with AMD.

>micro stutter
>better frametime consistency since GCN
>better minimum framerates on Ryzen 3XXX

>just because this generation they're actually decent again doesn't mean shit
Except it does? Read reviews and benchmarks before buying shit you dumb fucking nigger. If you're too stupid to research before shelling out hundreds of dollars in parts then you shouldn't be buying them at all, stick to consoles.

Making my first build and don't want to spend too much, gonna upgrade the gpu when I start working again

anti-competition tactics
programming in geometry only their (nvidia's) cards can handle

May as well get one of the Zen chips with integrated graphics like a 2400g or a used gtx 1050ti, or a used RX 570 or something. A 1030 is completely useless, unless you're not going to play literally any games until you've save up more.

What fucking gaming benchmarks you mongoloid. 9900k has better gaming benchmarks than the 3900x, granted not by much but it's still higher. There's only a $20 difference between what I paid for my 9900k and a 3900x, maybe research prices faggot.

I am building a new pc and I want to game at 100+ fps at 1440p. I can afford it so why not?

Literally on newegg for me.

since I just game and have youtube open and other shit open at the same time, I'm still deciding on a mobo to pair with a 3600. certainly not any of the older boards with all that bios fuckery going on. you guys got any recommendations?

people don't buy those for gaming, they see that an Intel chip does well in benchmarks then buy the far cheaper model that isn't as competitive like the 9400f.

Brand psychology just works like that.

If the AMDs could hit 5GHz they would be beating the intels.

Considering the benchmarks are with Intel at 5ghz vs a mere 4.2ghz (or is it 4.1?) the differences are fucking small in most titles.

Clock for clock amd > intel in ipc, as shown in tests.

I have a Ryzen 5 2400g. Was going to upgrade but my A320 motherboard isn't compatible with Ryzen 3000 series chips. Fucking AMD promising full support for existing AM4 sockets on all their products until 2020 is bullshit.

How's the 7 2700x? Looking to upgrade from my old 8350.

Its supported but your board is so shit, it will melt because of its shitty cheap VRM from buying a shitty $30 board.
If you really want to do it then just hack the BIOS.

youtube.com/watch?v=69jw9i4p4-Y

/g/ is mostly comprised of amd stockholders trying to protect their bottom line by shilling on the internet for free.

went from 8350 to 1700, difference is like night and day. go for it, you have no idea how bad visheras are, difference is easy to notice even in daily tasks, not to mention vidya

SOPA

>shills an intel board before the video even starts
What a faggot.
>MUH SPONSOR MUNNIES

have a fucking backbone jesus christ.

I was considering a 1700 but I was worried about going down in ghz. My old 8350's been keeping me going strong for a long while but it's about time I retire her.

It's basically the only thing bottlenecking my build. Thanks for the tip.

I've got all this under water. I'm good.

Enjoy not even being able to boot games in a year, Parvanti.

Why do people erroneously refer to AMD as "Team Red" when they are and always have been Team Green?

Attached: amd athlon.jpg (1306x1306, 110K)

Just get an older one and update the bios, it's the same socket.

The only one I know about is MDS, otherwise called ZombieLoad, and it only affects Shintel™.

And the only way to fully remedy it, as this guy says - - is to disable hyper-threading, which hits performance by up to 40% according to Apple (obviously it's going to be nearly half because you're literally cutting your threads in half).

>all this cope from a shintel shill

Attached: intel shill.jpg (626x657, 81K)

Because AMD itself changed their color to red

At least his cpu POSTs and doesn't corrupt his data.

isnt it team orange?
also i already did

Well of course Shintel's post reliably, they have to get your data to Mossad somehow, right?

Faggot.

No they didn't. Red is the colour of Radeon since red was the colour of ATI, but it's not the colour of AMD and never has been.

It's been this way since there was an option, newfriend. Last time amd was relevant was like 2004, intel got complacent after screwing the pooch on Pentium, with it not scaling up to 8ghz like they thought it would, then not being crushed by amd because amd was too busy being absolutely fucking worthless until bulldozer came out, then they were only 99% worthless because you could make the value argument. I'm just happy intel is getting bitch slapped after all those years of "muh 4 cores are enough"

Don't forget to make regular backups in the event that your CPU boots into OS.

Yowch! I can feel this Intcel coping from here!

But then why is the box red/orange with an AMD logo

>Don't forget to make regular backups in the event that your CPU boots into OS.
This feels like it should be on a /g/ branded tshirt

I'm just giving you a friendly advice but you seem frustrated and mad for some reason.

Question
I already have a 1600. Is the jump to a 3600 worth it? I don't give a shit about streaming or capturing.

I've bought i5 8500 month before Intel CPU prices skyrocketed and went above 50% more expensive
I don't need a new CPU for gaming, why would I care

Why would someone go on the internet and lie? The only problem I've heard about is that mobos weren't reporting freq. correctly.

Gonna wait until September. I'm either going to get the 3950X or wait what Intel has in store.

But deep down you do care otherwise you wouldn't be posting ITT.
idiot

I did. Intel cant compete for applications and gaming is around same, at least on budget tiers.

Attached: Untitled_12.png (861x701, 659K)

I'm not upgrading until ddr5

Seriously, what risks do I have with my 4790k hyper threading? I haven't followed this at all.

>BIOS problems galore
Leave it default or use a x470 board its not fucking rocket science. No new chipset in the last decade hasn't been fucked on release.

I have a 4790k and GTX 970.
I have dual IPS 1080p60Hz Monitors and an HTC Vive
I've tried 1080p144Hz for a sold 8 hours and didn't like the monitor I got specifically because the one I bought was a TN panel and it was an eyesore. I'd have to pay an arm and a leg to get an IPS/VA one, at least at the time I tried this. I stopped noticing the smoothness after 5 minutes of playing also. Returned the monitor the day after, was fine with 60Hz. Don't find 1440p/4K appealing either.
Also, pretty much every VR game is optimized for GTX 970.
I don't have a reason to upgrade for another couple years.
Maybe Intel will get their shit together by 2023, nvidia perfected ray tracing, or AMD actually allows their drivers to support DXR without doing unstable tweaking.

None, it's just some academic exploit that the amd stockholders love bringing up. You'd have reason to worry if you ran a data center. No one is going through the trouble of executing these exploits on consumers.

Still have 60 fps on all new games with my Core 2 Duo, buying bew processor is a meme

Ryzen 2 can't hit advertised clocks on single core. This is false advertising. AMD blocking board manufacturers from enabling PCI 4.0 on high end older chipsets ect. Needing boot kit because your new mobo build for ryzen 2 can't work with factory bios.

Looks like good games run best on AMD and shit games run best on Intel.

Attached: 1530909504849.jpg (552x594, 25K)

>muh scores
whatever. i've had enough of amd. intel is a better pick in every way possible if you don't give a shit about benchmarks and muh frame/$ ratio.
why? because no one gives a shit about amd and everything is built for intel. i have other things to do than playing brand new battle royale.

I got a 9900k. Why would I need to switch to an inferior platform?
>slower in games
>moar corez mean jackshit in real world performance
>whoops we corrupted your data sorry
>same shit drivers AMD have had for 15 years.
>not a poorfag, cost didn't matter to me
>have got to use it for nearly a year already
Intel wins more the higher the refresh rate & resolution lol.

holy cope

So my lewds and rares are safe. Good to hear.

Is it finally time to replace ye good olde i5 2500k?

Attached: 1523978566445.png (665x666, 181K)

Why didnt you wait for the 10 core tho? Do you at least have the R0 stepping CPU with hardware fixes against MDS etc?

No, wait for DDR5 in the next 2-3 years

Should I try my luck with a b450 board or go with x470 and ask amd for the bootkit

Attached: 1562533602276m.jpg (1024x730, 67K)

PC build general?

I'm sort of conflicted on what to get for a GPU. Right now I'm still using my old 1080p/60hz monitor, but I'd like to upgrade to 1440p/144hz at some point as well. But I'll probably be holding off on that until next year.

So in the meantime, should I go for a mid-range card like rx590 for 200 or 1660ti for 230, even though they probably won't be able to handle the higher res/refresh later, and then when I buy a new monitor, I just upgrade again? Or should I just go for a 5700xt when they come out with non-blower models?

>pretty much every VR game is optimized for GTX 970
>what is Skyrim VR & FO4 VR
get your eyes checked also

>not getting both i9 and sli 2080 super ti
Lol look at this poorfag having to worry about budget

Nope. I still have mine running because with a modern video card it still easily hits 60fps.

>unironically playing Bethesda games
Nah I'm good Todd. I'll stick to Beat Saber.

No, thank you. I would rather save up 100 bucks more and buy actually good CPU.

I replaced a 4790k with a 9900k and yeah, it's time.

What's the most noticeable difference for you upgrading?

Who /9400F/ here?

Orange/red are the colours of Ryzen, NOT the colours of AMD as a company.

RYZEN IS NOT THE SAME THING AS AMD AS A COMPANY, YOU FUCKING IDIOT

If you want to know the actual brand colours of AMD right now, it's basically just black and white. Yes, they appear to have dropped the green. Also remember the FX processors came in predominantly red boxes. So since about 2011, AMD appears to have dropped their green colouring, and started using reddish colours more, especially since Radeon has always been red since they acquired ATI whose brand colour was red. But, historically, AMD's brand colour was always green. Athlon was branded green, all of those old processors were put in green boxes. I had an AMD Sempron back in the day that came in a predominantly green box, and of course the AMD logo was partly green itself.

Here is today's official AMD logo from their website which is just black and white: mars.amd.com/Site/AMDResourceLibrary?lang=en&AssetContainerId=4651

Attached: amd sempron.jpg (560x600, 58K)

an increase in resolution moves to GPU limit you idiot
differences diminish at higher resolution

shut up you dumb nigger

>Why the fuck havent you switched to team red?
amd is still dogshit for emulation.

Only reason I'm looking to upgrade my 2500k is because I want to get a 144hz monitor, and so it won't cut it anymore. And also because I'd like to go to 16 gigs of ram, but buying more DDR3 is a poor value when I'd probably need to upgrade my CPU soon enough when next gen comes around. And since the 3600 seems like a good deal, might as well upgrade now.

But definitely not a necessity.

Also looking back it's really incredibly how long the 2500k has held up. I have to think intel-aviv made a huge mistake with that one, like it was something that nowadays they would'v either charged double for, or tweaked something to fuck it over long-term for planned obsolescence, or something.

Can the 3600 handle RPCS3 emulation? I want to emulate Demon's Souls on a budget while not hugely gimping actual PC gaming capability.

I still feel if you removed all upper limits, you're always going to be better off in the end with an Intel CPU.

The gap is smaller but it's still the case.

>I want to emulate Demon's Souls on a budget
Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a used PS3 and either hack it or get a cheap used copy of demons souls?

No, if you're buying a CPU for gaming performance you're a fucking retard that should kill himself, and AMD CPUs are far superior for literally every other thing you can do on your computer. You're pretty much never going to be CPU limited unless you don't upgrade your CPU for a decade.

demon's souls is very rpcs3-friendly, i'm checking through youtube and people are playing it smoothly on ryzen 1600. 3600 is much, much better than that

I have to buy a whole new PC anyway, would rather get a 700€ PC than a 600€ one + a PS3.

Attached: 2019-07-16 11-39-23.webm (1600x900, 2.7M)

Fair enough. I don't know much about PS3 emulation, how good it is, what hardware requirements are like, etc. I'm just saying that if you just want to play those PS3 games, it might actually be cheaper to go the used ps3 route. It all totally depends on exactly what sort of hardware is required to play games smoothly. Your way might be better financially after all.

My 6700K is still good, I'll upgrade in 2-4 years

How hot does it get? I don't trust liquid cooling system as 2 system leaked on me. Fuck

>posting a known shill and another one claiming how amd always lies in their presentations

Why would you put water in your computer unless you're an absolute retard?

you have tdp ratings around. it's not emergency edition and it's not bulldozer either, although you can obviously overvolt and overclock it until it warms up your entire room. in general, i'd say ryzens are pretty good with amount of heat they generate.

BUT IF I WENT AMD I CAN'T BUY THAT SWEET-ASS RGB BOARD I WAS LOOKING AT!

As soon as BIOS updates are finalized I'm joining the 3600 b450 gang, feels good

What about buying X570 with 3600 so I can get the next gen chips?

Don't. Get the 580 at least.

>Implying AMD won't ditch AM4 for their next gen
Yes goy, buy our new top of the line x570 mobos, you won't regret it, eh eh eh.

It is? How so?

ma nig Im still running 2500K/970 meme card

fuck off incel, I bought AMD but everyone know Intel was always reliable, it's the same as with car brands, people will always buy the same brand they can trust, fuck off with the security memes, literally no one cares and people keep buying Intel CPU to this day

I'm talking about chipset

Yea Forums is actually a bunch of console kiddies.

>this is the current state of PC gaming

I've always been a AMD guy, but fuck CPU wars if all there is to play is this kind of garbage. I'm glad I have a 3DS and Switch. And thanks to my new Ryzen 7 I've just started emulating PS2 Sega games.

VW is still selling cars like hotcakes.

I don't care. My i7 is still fine. AMD needs to crank out a replacement for my GTX 970 after Nvidia shit the bed with pricing and meme tech.

Probably soon.

Attached: sapphire.png (725x583, 111K)

Most likely. Looks like "zen 2+" will be called zen 3 though.

Attached: a01.jpg (1280x720, 98K)

Not everyone wants to replace their motherboard, OP

Not him but I believe so. Although honestly waiting for this socket or that socket is a meme anyway. It's good that AMD stays with its sockets for longer (although this sometimes causes rough spots with needing bios patches for early adopters) as compared to Intel's jewing with every new generation being incompatible.

But at the same time, you really shouldn't need to upgrade your CPU very often at all. So long, in fact, that even if you were to wait for AM5, by the next time you needed to upgrade, they'd probably be at AM6 anyway. Unless you do other cpu-intesnsive stuff besides gaming. But for gaming, I think any CPU should last at least 5+ years.

Hell, I'm only now going to upgrade from my 2500k which I've had for 8 years and is still solid as fuck.

>bought the 3600x
>mfw I'm finally emulating BOTW without any dips or stutters
I'm also pretty sure they sold me this at the wrong price as I paid $200 for it.

Thinking about upgrading my MOBO and CPU to ryzen. I'm still using the fx 3850 and it's starting to show it's age

I appreciate your based Maya posting

5700/xt are looking pretty good. Although I'm waiting for the non-blower models to come out and see how they do. Apparently they're really good at OCing if you have proper cooling

What framerate/resolution and graphics card are you using for that? I forgot about BOTW emulation, that definitely sounds spicy and fuck getting a wii u or switch.

Also isn't the 3600 for $200, 3600x for $250?

>starting
lmao that thing is a literal fossil

>What framerate/resolution and graphics card are you using for that?
2560x1080 and a 1070 (vanilla, not Ti).
>Also isn't the 3600 for $200, 3600x for $250?
YES! I'm pretty sure they misplaced the price tags, but I paid $200 for it at the local hardware store.

is this legit?

You wanna pay or are us 9 to 5ers and college part timers gonna have to buy new boards and processors?

Yea Forums, would you buy that $199 2700x right now if your current cpu was an i5-4570?

Attached: 1540744816489.jpg (1200x1800, 447K)

That's pretty sweet. From what I've seen the 3600x looks like a bad deal for only slight clock boost for 50 bucks compared to the 3600, but hell yeah if they mislabeled it for the same price.

my 8700k cost me 298 euros and im not upgrading it for a while

Yeah you're probably right. My first CPU was an Athlon 64 X2 Brisbane (2006), then I upgrade to a Haswell (2013) and that's what I'm currently running. I think a lot of my bottleneck right now is actually memory more so than CPU.

Yes.
It's Sapphire's official product name registration.

3600 is better than 2700x for the same price.

Your going to be replacing that current motherboard for the i5.

The 3600 ain't that bad either at BOTW
youtube.com/watch?v=UY2o6-1yNwk

But seriously, even if it had the correct price tag, I'd still get the 3600x as the extra clock is nice and 50 bucks ain't that much to be honest.

>buying the xXx-turboprecision-xXx edition
shiggy

x570 boards are still too expensive and i'm not risking a x470 bios update.

if I could get one for around $129, wouldn't even be a question. but $180 is the cheapest option and that's just crazy when considering that I still need to buy a gpu.

True. But that's why I'm personally just gonna wait a couple weeks for the boards to come with proper bios for zen2 to avoid the headache. I'll probably pick up one of those tomahawk msi boards when they fix the bios.

>oh yes I need to run my simulations and other really resource heavy stuff
Bullshit. No one does that unless it's for work

>wait a couple weeks for the boards to come with proper bios for zen2
wait, that's happening? I thought the only way to get an x470 with updated bios would be to do it yourself.

if they plan on shipping ones with the update already, i'll just wait.

>multiple virtual machines

Attached: gdssgdf.png (491x334, 131K)

I know that's what they're doing with at least the b450 boards. I don't see why that wouldn't be the case with x470 as well.

dude just ask the shop to update and test the bios for you

>dear amazon, please update the bios and test it for me before shipping
not everyone lives near a microcenter or fry's

>implying I buy boards in person
jesus christ boomer, what year is it? I don't even know where the fuck I could even go these days for computer parts.

Fry's or Microcenter are the two big ones

Not him but it's incredible that I've never seen either one in my entire life. Best Buy is all you get here.

neither is anywhere near me. I do all my PC shopping online

Anons, what's a good mobo for ryzen 7 3700x? I'm upgrading from my poor i5 3330, last time I pair it with sapphire's nitro+ RX580 8gb fries my psu

cope with your $580 purchase incel

What grimy shit does cyberpowerpc sweep under the rug? I know their power supplies are known to be shit but anything else I should consider replacing?
>prebuilt
I know im a lazy fuck

Best-buy is the next best one but their pricing is to the point that you might as well buy online. It was a while ago but when I compared some gpus in store pricing versus online, the gap was roughly $100 cheaper online

Who else /order in process/ here?

an intel build would cost me around 600€ without the cooler
an amd build is around 550 600€ wit the stock cooler

what do ?

AMD build.
Better price/performance and AMD CPU coolers are unironically pretty great.

If I don't give a shit about streaming or capturing games should I just go for a 3600/3600x?

which intel build? 9600k?
which amd build? 3600x?

if i'm right on both, get the 3600x

3600x if you're not a pussy and will actually overclock your shit.

Intel build: 9700k/z390 Aorus Elite/3200 CL16 (16gb) no cooler

AMD build 3700x/b450 or x470/same ram stock cooler

wait, intel no longer provides a cooler when you buy their processors?

the frame difference between the two is hardly worth giving up all those threads for, but peace of mind in knowing the 9700k just werks and you won't be forced to bios update over a game, makes it very appealing.

if it were me, i'd probably go with the 3700x.

Attached: file.png (671x649, 689K)

3600 and 3600x are both overclockable, retard. Not that overclocking does much at all on ryzen anyway.

not with their K editions

2700x is worse than 3600 in games

I never said it wasn't, you double nigger. I meant the 3600x outperforms the 3600 when both are OC, making it the better choice. if he's going to run stock, he's better off saving some cash and buying the 3600.

my i7 is fine

Yes it was. It also has the best performance so far we've seen, so if it wasn't built for gaming then none of the CPUs were

Why are AMD shills so obnoxious?
You don't see "why haven't you switched to Intel/Nvidia" threads twice daily.

>catch up
mfw 6700k @4.7 + v64
im still gaming in 2029 kiddo. progress is non existent thanks to the price fixing cartel.

Attached: NOMARTY.jpg (542x487, 66K)

>hurr durr shill
If you need a CPU upgrade now AMD is objectively the best choice at the moment. The numbers don't lie user.

because I was given a i5 8600k by my family and i'm not fucking upgrading for 2 years, now please fuck off with your corporate shilling

I think people are just happy to not be paying Intel's stupid prices anymore.

Well, Intel does still seem to have the slight edge in single core performance and therefore gaming if you're looking for the absolute best, top of the market. But yeah, for most people, AMD is probably a better choice, because at most price points, you're getting basically exactly the same single core / gaming performance (sometimes better in some games, but it's basically give and take, basically the same), but the chip is usually cheaper, and you're getting vastly superior multi core performance, and you get overclocking for free, and you get a decent stock cooler for free. And you don't get all the security flaws of Intel.

It's not shilling so much as people are happy they can finally switch away from the kikery of intel-aviv and/or jewvidia

Games are CPU dependent now are they? Thats news to me.

Fucking retard zoomers.

Attached: 1381871341600.gif (205x192, 3K)

because even though this OP can be applied to nvidia seeing as they have the best performance you'd instantly be shot down by the resident paid amd shills who happen to be 90% of all posters here despite amd owning fuck all market share in general.

that and the whole "intel is better for games" thing is a total meme. Look at the sorts of benchmarks they use to get those results. Like pairing processors on a setup with a 2080ti @ 1080p on medium settings to get a marginal benefit to the intel CPUs. but that sort of scenario never happens in real life. Who the fuck owns a 2080ti but plays at 1080p? In any sensible build, the GPU is going to be the framerate bottleneck anyway.

>4/8
at least move up to 9600k, gramps

>nvidia owns biggest marketshare
>all Yea Forums-posters are AMD fags
Yeah, no.
I just think you can't cope with the fact that AMD actually released a good product for once.

>cpu doesn't impact performance

/g/ users love everything AMD because it's cheap enough that they can spend extra on HRT pills and gender "reassignment" surgery.

>tranny boogeyman
rent free

I gotta say, those legs are nice.

i literally couldn't give a shit about what any of these companies do and have already stated that. i also stated the obvious which was if anyone were to make this same OP for nvidia they'd get shot down by all the amd shills on this board who flock to these threads and become the majority posters despite amd as a whole being the massive minority. you literally can't disagree with that. any nvidia thread like this and you know yourself you'd get mad and call them a shill.

I already have a Ryzen. Granted it's a 5 2600x but it fits my current needs

>tfw bought i5 a year ago because all the intel babs shit talked Ryzen hard
Feels awful. Also RAM prices back then too

Yeah I recently built my own back in April or so and it made it easy just asked some dudes I knew for advice and only changed one or two things from what I picked on part picker originally and building it was pretty easy too. Only thing that was hectic was the cpu cooler.

>intel has better single core performance
>the 9700k(on sale) is still the go-to for gaming

i had a 4 core i5 and bought server i7 which fits into my motherboard and my performance in games is way smoother and i get way better fps as well. cheap 80 bong upgrade.

just bought a 2700 + epic gaming mobo for $200

holy shit what a deal that was, comes with xbox game pass too. upgrading from 4c/4t

depends what socket you're already on. mine was old enough that prices were ok-ish but it wasn't so old performance would be shit. i'm on z97 which is haswell and haswell is still pretty good for modern games if you have an i7 like a 4770 or 4790. my server processor is literally identical to a 4770 clockspeed and everything.
that being said though, the k models of those i7 are still extortionate prices.

SALES WHEN

>tfw still on i5 760
I would OC it if I had a spare PC, but now I just can't take that risk.

gaming+streaming on the same pc. gpu encoders can be taxing depending on the setup. my 1080 will drop frames if i use it instead of my 4770k and having extra cpu headroom for that is nice. i can stream most games with cpu encoding but stuff like bfv stutters so i'd like to get rid of that. don't really have the room for a 2nd tower and not into capture cards. also i make porn webms for /gif/ a lot and shaving some time off that would be solid. upload more porn and faster.

>Percentage difference
t. doesn't understand frames per second

>same clocks?
The only reason to compare processors of different architectures at the same clock speed is to investigate IPC performance, which is essentially an academic pursuit. It's a similar case in core-for-core comparisons, as you don't buy cores by themselves, one by one.

To get useful information for making a decision you just need to compare the performance of the different products at the task you do the most and then choose according to your budget. Making choices based on clock speed and core numbers is like choosing Car B over Car A because B revs higher and has more cylinders, even though A laps your home circuit faster.

Why the fuck everyone shilling intel always ignores the core count?

i don't uses the nvidia suite of stuff, just the basic drivers and obs, the nvidia codec works well for streaming on obs but it pushes the card so hard i can blue screen when running a game at 1440p on max graphics so i uses cpu encoding and have next to no fps hit except in cpu heavy games. if geforce experience wasn't so annoying maybe i'd try it. also i just kinda feel like junking the system and starting fresh again, had this 4770k for a while and my 1080 can't max out most games at 1440p/144 hertz so i'm looking to builf a whole new setup.

my i5-4460 weeps but i can't upgrade :(

Is 3700X worth it compared to 3600X?

that's literally impossible because the hardware encoder on the gpu is a completely separate chip which won't change anything much when your gpu is under load.

a good idea for 1080p gaming?

wwhat did you have before?

idk mang it crashes when i use nvenc in obs after 15-20min which is nvidia right? my gpu was a slightly overclocked version from msi if that matters. anytime i run that. cpu always has been more stable for me, can stream for hours with no issues on it. maybe it's because i don't have geforce experience and just the basic drivers which i keep updated? i ditched geforce experience like 2 years back i wanna say.

2600k oc to the max. most mp games aren't so demanding aside from unoptimized garbage like bfv

9900k, its a paperweight now LMAO

yeah because their opengl drivers suck

where you get that post link?

well shit, i've rebuilt the system about 3 times since i got the 4770k. all new hard drives, case, fans, cpu cooler, tried memory swaps, i have 32gb ddr3 currently, went from a 680 gtx to a 1080 gtx. new 850 watt evga power supply 3 years back. fresh windows installs, very little on there besides games. i'm really not sure what else to try, and just to be clear i'm only doing 720p 60 fps stream even though i play at 1440p. nvenc setting just isn't working for me. maybe my gpu is defective? seems to run games well enough and my case has plenty of fans/airflow. i even bought some extras so nearly every space in my case that accepts a fan has one.

that's a shame if it is but i guess that's why i wanted a whole new system since i can't seem to figure it out and my 4770 feels old at times. seems like a decent time to upgrade and get it over with

My 4670K still works.

if you have to ask then the answer is no

Now show the performance in literally everything else and see how much that 3 percent still matters.

I do professional video editing with a 1600, I don't think I will need to upgrade at least until devs go full retard with the console generation and start bloating up CPU usage for no good reason.

3700x cpu and ms b540 mobo

Look at this post and try telling me Intel doesn't have actual shills here.

I'm thinking of going red in November unless Intel stops price gouging. Wonder if the 3700x will be down in price by then?

There's literally no point unless you're doubling your PC as a furnace

No, absolutely not. Unless you're doing some cutting edge shit for actual work, you never need to upgrade your CPU more than once in a blue moon.
Your current CPU will last plenty of time. I'd only even begin to consider upgrading when AM5 comes out and we also get to see whatever incel has in stock too.

I am planning to buy GTX 1060, 16gb DDR4 3200 ram and Ryzen 2600 ( will oc it) what am I in for

Who the fuck buys a 9900k for gaymen. You're like those brainlets in the sandy bridge era who paid out the ass for hyperthreaded i7s for gaming despite it being worthless for that because no games used that at all.

yes, but at what fps?
60? no problem
120+? will have to lower some settings

why a 1060 and not one of the newer 8gb cards? are prices really that cheap?

>GTX1060
why? That card isn't worth the list price whatsoever, unless you're getting it in a bargain bin used for 50 bucks or something
If you want something around ~200ish dollars, either get a RX590 or GTX1660. Or see if you can get a 1660ti, they sometimes go on sale for ~230.

I pointed out that this retard claimed intel is 3 years behind amd when 9900k exists.
Chill brainlets.

Yes it is 3 years behind, you won't be seeing competitive chips from Intel any time soon and no extremely expensive 14nm chips aren't competitive.

>avg fps 1 higher

OMG WOWWWWW hahahahaha

i have a buddy who does but he also is a college teacher and buys a new build every year or two and sells off the older parts, he had a titan xp and sold it for a 2080ti like not that long after getting it

minimum framerate is 10 higher, nerd

Yep. Bought a 3600 with a b450 tomahawk no regrets. Even going for a red theme with the rest of the build. I fucked around tho and bought 32GB of ram so once I get it I’m finna sell that for ~$150 and hopefully get 16GB and a case for that amount

Trying to find a RTX 2060 for sub-$300. I’m doing 1080p 144hz for now but which I know is overkill for a 2060 but I’m gonna get another 1440p monitor later on

I find that sort of thing to just be ridiculous. I make good money as well, but I'd always prefer to either save or spend it on something more valuable than doing something as inefficient and wasteful as building a new top-of-the-line PC build each year. Even if you sell the old parts.

Just bought mine user. Case is coming in on Thursday.

Did you have any issues with the bios? Any flashing required?

Why? I thought it was decent
By the way, 1060 costs around 260 euro here in Poland and 1660/ti has a very, very similar price.

That means I can easily get 1660 instead of 1060

Team red huh? According to speccy your story checks out

Yeah, nvidia prices are retarded for whatever reason. Not sure about zloty pricing but here in burger bux, they're all around the same range. If your set on nvidia, go for 1660 over 1060, which is older and less powerful. Or I'm not sure if there are 1660ti sales over there, but those are even better if you can get them for only a little extra.

Is it worth going from FX-6300 to Ryzen 5 2600?

Still got a 1600 here, would it be a good idea to just get a 3600 and throw it in my existing ASRock AB350M Pro4? ASRock's supporting 3000 processors on their B350 boards but the main thing I'm concerned about is the VRMs and how they'll handle a 3600

Thanks, I have just looked into it and it really seems like 1660 is a better choice than 1060. Not to mention the fact that these two have the exact same prices here ( the msi variants )

What's the best one for emulation?

>under 5% difference
>cheaper CPU with double digit lead in productivity tasks

3900X is simply a better deal if you're going to spend closer to 500€ on a CPU. If you're paying that much for a CPU you MUST be doing productivity tasks as going over the 3700X/9700K pricepoint is literally redundant.

>1080p

thats the problem using these CPUs to play games at 1080p. start going up to 1440 and 4k and they are basically the same

Why would you need a 9900K? It brings maybe 2-4% more fps in games for 200€ more than it's 9700K, while getting destroyed by any AMD CPU near it in productivity. I can understand the 3900X, but 9900K is in this market void where you would get it only if you ONLY played video games AND were retarded with money.

That's because the games become more GPU heavy the higher you go on the resolution scale. For benchmarks it's wise to lower the resolution to bring forth discernible differences between CPUs.

In theory the point of these sorts of tests is to make sure the graphics card isn't bottlenecking the system, in order to show a truer difference between CPUs.

In practice, however, data like this is fucking useless. IRL nobody is pairing a top-of-the-line GPU with a 1080p monitor. CPU gaming comparisons like this are almost universally pointless for that reason, because in any sensible build, your framerate is going to be limited by your GPU not your CPU. Only exception being certain types of strategy games like Total War or Hearts of Iron or something like that.

The take-away point here is that using standard GPU-heavy games to benchmark CPUs is retarded.

It's to fool underage idiots into thinking intel is "better", wait until they hear workstation CPUs are a thing.

Hey guys. I'm buying a new pc. So far the things I'm missing are: CPU, GPU and the mother board. Any of you kind anons have suggestions on what I should get? I've been thinking of getting the GPU some other time, my budget is around 700 and I'm not sure what combo CPU+Board is best at this price range. I also was thinking of getting a board that would allow me to get a better CPU in the future, but I'm very ignorant of all this

Just upgraded 7 PCs in my LAN center to AMD. Excited for the future. Going to upgrade the rest over the year. Now they just need a badass GPU and i'll go exclusively AMD.

Attached: 20190509_140904.jpg (4032x1960, 2.01M)

>LAN center
I have so many questions.
Is Fortnite allowed?

what do you plan on doing with it, what framerate/resolution monitor, how often do you go before upgrading, etc?
If your most intensive thing is gaming, I'd just go for a 3600 for 200 dollars, a B450 mobo for the ~100-150 price range, and spend the rest on the graphics card.

Attached: 1448524047172.gif (320x240, 1.91M)

>what do you plan on doing with it
The most intensive thing would be gaming

>framerate/resolution monitor
the resolution of my monitor is 1600 x 900. Don't remember the framerate

>how often do you go before upgrading
It's been 10 years user. I'm not a neet anymore so, I'd be able to upgrade every 5 or 3 years now

Thanks for the advice

Yes it is dude. AMD fully took on RED as their color. They don't use the green logo anymore and most of their product lines use Red coloring now. It's even a secondary color on their website. Nvidia is Team Green now. AMD is Red. Intel is blue. That's how it is.

Snipped from the link you posted in this very thread

Are you going to stick with your 900p monitor?
If you're just sticking with that, I'd go with a 3600+B450 mobo like I said. And also I don't think you'd need higher than a 200 dollar GPU for that monitor to get a stable 60fps. either RX590 or 1660 is around that price point.

>Are you going to stick with your 900p monitor?
I may change it next year, or get another one. My plan is to slowly upgrade my entire rig. If I can get a "future-proof" cpu+board combo I wouldn't mind getting the gpu later.

>3600x

Paid extra for basically nothing, but still great system.

I will be getitng a 3600 and already have an RX580, I only use Linux so AMD GPUs are much better on that. On Windows I'd still buy Nvidia GPUs though.

I'm kind of dumb with this shit user it's my first rig.

Well regardless of resolution, I think the 3600 is the best value for gaming. 200 for that processor is a steal.

I don't really have an answer for you in terms of monitor and gpu though, since that's all up in the air. A ~200 dollar GPU would serve you well. If you plan on going to something higher like a 1440p/144hz, you might want to consider upgrading, but I'd only do that after you actually have your hands on a monitor like that. Otherwise anything higher right now is mostly a waste.

i need to get me a radeon vii and a 3500, next desktop i guess

They don't sell them(3700X) around here(yet)

Why does it need to be allowed? The best part about it is that it costs no money whereas LAN centers have to pay license for other online games.
