This is why level systems are garbage.

metro exodus ranger hc, beginning made me want to tear my balls off, Though it was my first playthrough and did things out of order without knowing it was for all story missions like storming the base with the train for ex.Then after volga it got surprisingly easy. Ranger hc was fun as fuck. Then tried hardcore for collectible ru, immediately switched backed to ranger hc because the hud was so ugly and made it significantly easier. Still a decent game

>pick hard
>game is too easy
>pick very hard
>game is too hard

>about an hour or two into the game when you get a grasp on all the mechanics and know how to play the game normal difficulty becomes too easy
this happens too often, hard feels like it should be normal for a lot of games

>survival game
>the survival elements dont matter at all past the first hour or so and just becomes minor inconveniences for the rest of the game

>game has hard mode
>same shitty AI but doubled hp

>sword and board build
>first 1/4 of game have a ton of deaths and burn a lot potions
>after halfway point blocking just wastes time

>game has hard mode that's actually hard
>also has in-game grinding method available if you wish it
>grind is encouraged because game is fucking impossible otherwise
>game is now too easy on hard mode once you gain a few extra levels past what would be considered reasonable

>sword and board build
>get a skill that damages enemies you block without a cooldown

>the hardest main story content in nu god of war is the beginning because that’s before the rpg elements are unlocked

i made a huge mistake starting The Witcher 1 on hard mode

bravely default?

>pick hard difficulty
>proceed to grind a bunch so you're at a much higher level than you should be
>wtf this game is ez

In rpgs this is good, it means you're given many options and flexibility from the game's battle system that let's you outplay and cover different situations rather than stat bloating enemies that you have no choice but to grind to beat.

>never grind in games to get a level advantage
>until you come up against a ranged enemy that throws heat seeking boulders at your party with 99% chance to hit that deals a quarter to half of their health in damage that cannot be out-ranged oh and the enemy spawns in groups of 2-3
no one will know what im talking about but yeah

based
items are aids too

>theres 3 difficulties above normal
>each and every one introduces new enemies, changes item locations and enemy placements, introduces new bosses, changes rewards for collectibles

>pick hard difficulty
>the game is too easy
>but the first boss is impossible to beat without grinding
