My actual desire is a soft reboot of the series. I know, I know. Not another Kanto you cry. I hear you, but this would be the last time. It'd be easy to include all the regions, pokemon, and high quality animations if they weren't afraid to restart the series proper and utilize modern options like patching and dlc. Release the game in phases.

Only the original 151 pokemon are in. Essentially a modern remake of the original games, but with modern mechanics. Abilities, held items, breeding, day/night, seasons, trainer customization, and every other good feature that gets randomly cut for no reason.

>Phase 2: Johto and Hoenn
Here's where we take a detour. Upon buying this next DLC your game is patched to include the new Johto and Hoenn regions. Two options are presented; restart your adventure in New Bark / Littleroot and play through that story until you hit post game and get all your old pokemon back or continue playing with your current pokemon and fight a much harder Johto / Hoenn. Timed, but recurring events are introduced so that you can participate in side quests to capture Celebi, Mew, and other mythical pokemon. Pokedexs are updated and travel between regions is possible once the E4 of the region is defeated.

>Future Phases
Save Mega Evolutions, Z Moves, and Dynamaxing to push DLC in future phases along with the zones. Introduce the Pokemon Stadium DLC in between 2 and 3. This serves as a central hub for players to hop into from any Pokemon Center that allows them to run around, challenge, and see other players from around the world. While it would be a random lobby just lumping you in with players from around the world, there would be a room system and a friend bias that encourages playing with friends. The zone would have minigames, trading, casual battles, and etc.

Then instead of releasing a new Pokemon game every year or so they can work on fun DLC or Events and appeal to both the single player crowd and the MMO crowd.
