But what I'd love to see returning with underwater was Tri's dark caves. Fighting Gigginox in pitch black was memorable as fuck. Still praying for an underground flooded cave system for the ultimate marriage of climbing, swimming, and darkness mechanics

A lot of weapons just had boring movesets underwater. If underwater didn’t change movesets and literally just added a third axis of movement I think people would like it more, especially with World’s added mobility options. They might revisit it at some point since like half of World’s player base are new and have no strong opinion one way or the other regarding underwater hunts.

I like World, but dear god is Astera bad. It feels like they wanted to fully combine the online and offline hubs into o e but either pussies out too late into development to change the layout or realised too late into development that it wasn’t going to work properly on current gen hardware and had no time to change it. The shitty gathering hub we got is further proof. At least Seliana looks good, it’s way more focused than Astera and it’s gathering hub actually has every facility in it

Yeah the gathering hub worked that way since launch, but they made it easier to utilise in updates and such. There’s even an event monster that can only be fought if you go through the gathering hub. When events are running the gathering hub has a lot of activity so you’ll be able to find groups easily. They’re rerunning each event for a week back-to-back as well before Iceborne launches, so that’s five weeks of guaranteed gathering hub activity.
