Sort of related, I'm trying to remember the name of another retro styled FPS, I think it had more of a dungeony setting, and simpler, blockier sprites. It frequently gets mentioned when people talk about Ion Fury.

Seeing as I went in blind and didn't die on the first level with awful eye sight and on a 23 inch monitor I am gonna say you are wrong. The starting area I can kinda get because of the shadows but I didnt have a single issue outside of that very starting area before you go outside.

Your criticism with background doesn't make much sense if youve played the game. The depth layer that is very obvious in gameplay doesn't come across in screenshots. Its just the nature of the engine.

Not really. The buildings in that screenshot look far far closer than what they look like in motion gameplay. The ones in the background outside the play area and others. It's just a quirk and not fair to really act like everything you see in a screenshot is representative of how it is in motion.

Has anyone else played Death Wish for Blood:Fresh Supply yet? The fights and boss levels are alot more enjoyable than the base game. Episode 3 in Death Wish opens with a Silent Hill 2 style experience and hallcinations Caleb is having about plot.

I recently dumped 40 hours into Blood after they fixed alot of bugs/glitchs from what I understand were causing alot of backlash at the time. I gave it a look after becoming a big fan of Civve11 and his "PRO BLOOD" videos so I played first 3 episodes in lightly broiled and got used to the feel. Then restarted with Well Done difficulty instead. I made some quick save rules for myself to follow. Just 2 per level and I had alot of fun. I got past post mortem with some decent,but fun amounts of trouble and dealt with Cryptic Passage. I tried the Death Wish mod/expansion afterwards and was blown away at the quality of the missons and lengths of each almost all exceeding the longest maps in the base game. I increased the quick save rule to 3 per level and loved the experience a first time played through. Almost cinamatic at times if you can apply slight autism to suspend your disbelief. 11/10

all I know of that is Civvie obliterated Gman's cred in a single video. I don't think his cred has recovered. I see civvie's name in the comments on gman's stuff more than people talking about gman.

Because FPS of that era generally didn't have humanoid enemies and the main characters were literally irrelevant. A lot of the aesthetic it's going for bled over into the early 2000's for shooters. For general movies, which were the inspirations of the games ion maiden's emulating, starship troopers as previously mentioned was particularly close and jumps to mind. Total Recall also had a similar aesthetic as did 40k's Imperial Guard, etc. You could even look to Star Trek jumpsuits an inspiration, honestly. They're not identical (primarily because her most recent design took further steps to make her general figure more womanly, despite what you fuckers say), but the general style of scifi which it's based off is clear.
