It's not a well written one that's for sure.

No.

Yes, but you have to wait for hours before all the combat options open up to you. Also the voice acting is shit and the story is weak.

No. It's one of the worst JRPG's I've played.

>good
>JRPG

I found it to be one of the best in a long time for a first playthrough.

no.

Yeah
It’s rough in tons of spots but it was really memorable for me

Its ok. The DLC expansion story felt like something the game should have been from the start, I enjoyed that far more

It's a chore until the full combat mechanics unlock.

XB2 is one of the nicest looking games on the Switch so long as you don't play it undocked.

Attached: 1556547187347.jpg (2133x1200, 2.27M)

Pretty good
Solid writing but with iffy voice acting dub
Solid gameplay that takes some time to find its stride but has a lot of complexity at that point.
The only complaints I have are some features feel half baked, the performance and I wish that there were more mini games, like maybe a cooking mini game or a crafting mini game for the stuff you find.
Oh, I also wish it had the campfire system from Torna

Absolutely not.

>XB2 is one of the nicest looking games on the Switch if you ignore one of the key features of the system

Yes, that's what I said. Some people rarely or never play undocked though.

Attached: 1557969229674.jpg (2700x1519, 2.5M)

yes, it's spectacular

>Also the voice acting is shit
AH'LL BOSH YOO OHP PROHPAH AH SWAER!

Not exactly. Combat is a fucking chore and even common enemies take way too long to kill even after you "get good" at its systems. Also gacha.

I'm thinking of going back to complete it someday just so I don't feel like I wasted my purchase, I hear they've added an easy mode now which I plan to switch to just so every little encounter doesn't last forever.

Mythra is best girl is all I know

>not liking Nia
ok tranny

U wot m8, I didn't know I needed a Welsh catgirl until hearing Nia makes my dick diamonds

>Game so brain dead it literally plays itself

unless you care more about waifus then the game and story its utter fucking garbage. stay away if you were a fan of 1 and X

>user so braindead he thinks you can get through the whole game without using a single art

The game success comes from the waifus and you know it...

I bought the special edition and haven't touched it. Looks really unappealing from what I've seen and I don't have time to play games anyway.

What makes it so bad in comparison to 1?

There are two writers for a script made by someone else so the plot ranges from anime tropes (usually the even chapters) to some great stuff (usually the odd chapters). The combat is complex but it was like the more I understood the systems at work, the more I enjoyed it. Fighting my first unique monster in Gormott and using a full Blade Combo for the first time was when I felt like I had truly begun to grasp the game. And the game is full of things like that. You learn to pull off a powerful technique like a Chain Attack and it makes you feel strong. You get to the point where you can manage a Full Burst and you feel invincible as you watch a difficult enemy's HP drop down as your entire party goes wild on it. You start upgrading your Arts so you can pull them off more frequently and begin to take advantage of resetting your attack animation (stuttering) to charge your Arts faster. You begin using pouch items on top of that and get critical recharge with Mythra. You start experimenting with Core Chips and accessories and even Common Blades with specific abilities and stat boosts so you can try min-maxing with stats. You take advantage of this to try and get 999 Luck to get every Rare Blade easier, and begin to apply it to other stats like agility to avoid even the strongest of monsters at a lower level. Every time you think you've become amazing, you find something to push yourself farther. Pneuma feels like nothing after a while.

send it to me bro

I hated a lot of the mechanics and wasn't really crazy about the story or characters and still found I dumped like 120 hours into it and completed most of the sidequests. Its not a perfect game by any means but its one of only maybe a dozen console jrpgs I've managed to enjoy in the last two generations.

The combat suck ass

Anyone criticizing the """"braindead"""" combat is a memelord. Here are the actual flaws from a person who personally enjoyed the game

>Waifus
>Gacha-based system
>First few chapters were weak because it's littered with shonen anime tropes
>Speaking of shonen tropes, everyone fits an archetype that makes them feel more unnatural than the enemies in the Land of Morytha
>The church is evil
>Despite being a good antithesis to the main character, Jin is introduced as the textbook example of coldsteel the edgehog
>honestly, even aside Jin, pretty much everyone in Torna is an edgelord who wants to destroy the world
>Malos is only good because the voice actor nailed his character. Poor Scriptwriting failed to make me care on why he wants to destroy the world
>Pyra is shoved more in the limelight than Mythra
>the Expansion pack only bullies her some more
>I LOVE YOU, AND ALL OF MY FRIENDS
>Poor dungeon design (Mor Ardain to Factory, Elpys, Cliff of Morytha, Land of Morytha)
I mean, the game is awesome, but it has noticeable flaws for me

Attached: rage (4).png (424x470, 139K)

>The church is evil
This one is up for debate since the Church seems to be 50/50, like most countries in the game
But this seems about right otherwise.

Yes, it's great.

t. Brainlet
The combat's the best in the series.

It's good as far as JRPGs go. You wanted an interactive anime right? Well this is that.

disagree on the gacha being a weakness, it made it more fun to get rare blades and getting them all didn't take much grinding
dungeon design admittedly wasn't great, I'm glad that the game didn't focus too heavily on them

Are all RPGs gacha? Anytime you kill an enemy in borderlands you're hoping for the right gun. Anytime you kill an enemy in Skyrim you're hoping for decent loot. Is everything Gacha?

It is phenomenal
t. someone that thought they wouldn't like it

Not him but I'd say it's tied with XCX. XCX lets you customize more and has better Art variety but everything fits together really well in XC2

No, but the issue is that XB2 borrows a little more directly in the form of the core crystals that hold characters you hope to put on your team.
Yeah, loot is in games but the Gacha part of comes from Gachapon where you'd open capsules from machines trying to get the figurine you want, which was adapted for mobile games and getting the .png you want.
XB2's gacha is present, but the main issue are the roll rates.
Unlike in Borderlands (where good guns come semi-regularly on a curve) and Skyrim (where anything short of unique equipment can be crafted), XB2 has the issue where the only way to obtain Rare Blades are Gacha AND the roll rates are really bad and actually get worse the more Rares you get.
The issue is that uniqueness and chances

Some people find it fun. I personally find it as an unnecessary padding at best

>Anytime you kill an enemy in Skyrim, you're hoping for decent loot
Yeah, but Waifublade 2 is notorious for its convoluted gacha system. Imagine the Team Fortress 2 situation where killing an enemy have a chance to drop lootbox. It's only more tolerable because you don't need any IRL money to buy keys for opening lootboxes but, as I said above, it's padding for drops because instead of having a consistent place to farm weapons, you now have to grind and open (and release, if you're exceeding 45 or something around that figure) hoping for your favourite waifu (or husbando if you're into Bara Mermaidman) to pop up.

I didnt play JRPGs for a long time but I jumped back in for P5, XB2 and DQXI
P5 was pretty good, It had the one thing I really liked from P4 but on steroids which was a beefed up over-world city with events and mini games galore.
DQXI was ridiculously competent without any major faults whatsoever.
But XB2 was the one that gave me hardcore flashbacks to early 2000s JRPGs on the PS2 and even late-era PS1 JRPGs: big, globe-trotting stories an even spread of character development and a good sense of scope, along with some rough flaws from developers reaching beyond their grasp.
What JRPGs are coming out soon? Three Houses, P5 Royale and Code Vein, right?

>XB2 has the issue where the only way to obtain Rare Blades are Gacha

Now explain the existence of them as quest reward.

That’s a funny way of spelling Poppi.

Attached: sample_a2dbbd012e8b902d78c97aef9a62ba36.jpg (850x786, 102K)

Maybe I'm just lucky but I found myself naturally get enough rare blades for my entire team and then some . Unless someones trying to minmax or is a waifufag, it really doesn't feel that bad. I just hit the ice titan today so I don't really know how far I am but it never felt like there were huge gaps in between getting new blades. I got Morag kitted out relatively quick after I unlocked her.

Sorry.
I meant the only way to obtain non-quest Blades was Gacha.
The point is that if you want KosMos, you have no other option but to roll for her, whereas unique guns have definite drop locations from certain bosses in Borderlands and Skyrim equipment can be crafted

You'll always get some, but the issue is mainly one for completionists

Mythra is stuck with a cute shota
Poppi is stuck with a lewd mascot

>Tora, what's this?
>It's bunnit armor
>It doesn't look like an armor
>That's because Grampypon made it, right, Poppi?
>Yes, but Tora finished the final design of preprogramming Poppi to do lap dance while wearing bunnit armor

it's probably the worst game ive ever liked a lot.
>the plot is a dumpster fire
>the resolution and framerate are abysmal
>the character design is a joke
>60% of the gameplay is tutorials
>side quests are boring 80% of the time
>the open world feels empty
>the blade system is fucking gacha
but i still found myself unable to stop during my 90 hour playthrough.
maybe it was the gorgeous world. maybe the layered and satisfying combat system. maybe the story that is so cliche and simple it becomes endearing. maybe the gorgeous soundtrack. maybe the expansion being so fucking great (seriously, nintendo has convinced me they make the absolute best expansions. octo expansion and torna are some of the best of all time). maybe the blades being so fun to swap between.
i cant recommend this game despite how much i enjoyed it. it isnt good. but holy shit i had a good time with it.

after thinking about it a long time i think it really is 60% the music

>60% music
that can't be it, user. Orchestral rock really scratches my ear. That's one thing Tornablade fixed

Attached: stare (13).jpg (600x574, 70K)

no but it is sorta good and thats enough to still be the best Switch rpg

No.

Attached: 1541522235.jpg (974x691, 506K)

The games not good in either gameplay or story.
Look. I don't need to get started with the story, just take it at face value as some shonen waifu anime and this guy got it right >enemy health is too high even random encounters may take too long
>or you nerd the fuck out and know how to slaughter and mince them in seconds
>most likely have to manage things like combos of elements and toppling maybe together
>some characters locked behind gacha and others may never be found if not looked up on the internet or taking your time to discover every secret in the game
>you may still take about 200 hours for every character
>character quests will be a joke if you get them late if they aren't literal errands
>actual quests tend to be a chore
>have to do tedious tasks for characters to make them stronger or make them do something and they get timegated out of your party
>plus side you might see your fetish or get a new one because of all the wacky characters
>postgame bosses are a joke once you know their gimmick like super enrage at this % then burst them down
The combat isn't too offensive, sadly literally two, so there will be people that like it but it won't generally be liked by everyone.

Unironically 10/10 best switch exclusive

Attached: 20190707_193949-01.jpg (4025x2711, 2.54M)

it has the best whores out of any game

I just wish there were more than like 2 fights in the entire game where the enemies could out dps even the weakest healing before their rage kicked in. It kills the pace of every fight

>Managing combat, combos and orbs is somehow bad because its mechanic
>Complains about battles taking long whrn you can make orb in few seconds
>Characters hidden behind gacha
You will roll plenty and still wont use all
>Some hidden behind secret in game
If sidequest is secret, then lmao at you
>Actual twsts twnd to be chore
How?
>Timegated out of party only for specific blade quests
>Interesting cast is somehow bad
>Character quest eill be joke if you get them late
You cant get them too late. There are special circumstances that will trigger them

Seething weeb.

>Actually playing the switch in handheld mode
The only reason it should leave the dock is so you can keep playing when you have to go take a shit.

I would rather play a game at 540p stretched to 720p than 720 stretched to 1080

Best in this decade

It has major flaws, but I'd still recommend it anyway

>Those 15-30 minute gaps between posts
I hate when the cabal does this.

Only trannies hate it desu. Best JRPG in years.

Seethe more

Awesome game but it is a bit too overcomplicated and takes ages to show you everything, im at chapter 4 rn and enjoying it quite a lot tho

But trannies that RP as big breasted anime girls to please mommyfags are the only people that post in these threads.

How many fucking times are you gonna make this same thread with that same image, OP?

Lol no, unless you're qualification for "good jrpg" is waifus, and waifus alone. It's bad to mediocre in every aspect except anime girls.

It's sad that had to push out this pandering shit right after making the greatest open world game in history.
