Both Gunvolt and Copen get fucked over in 2, Copen with the revelation that his sister is an adept, the very people he's been slaughtering, and Gunvolt just finally fully loses his original waifu. They try to sort of make it up to him by giving him a different one though.

From a standpoint of a combat symbiote, I want a stronger and more vital host. Without the level of care and relatively prompt treatment Eve got, it's unlikely it would have stopped with generally enhancing her frame and mass, and would have likely made similar "upgrades" as the claw underneath that armor.
After her cure, the changes to her frame persist along with the highly integrated tissue that is now dormant, giving her the streaks and mild scarring. This is likely entirely benign as They are identical to the natural streaking in Jason's hair, suggesting that low level mutant contamination is reasonably benign.
