Why did no other Tales games let you choose the love interest?

Why the fuck is there no online co-op yet thats the real question

what does it feel like to hug a girl that tight
haha

Comfy

honestly feels really good.

oh
it feels kind of bad to know haha

Symphonia is the only good Tales game

xillia 2 has the affinity system, but it's not really the same thing

Because Baba

Dating sim elements made Persona and Fire Emblem mainstream.

Is Baba just retarded?

Please give me your opinion on my cute and funny pirate.

Baba was a fucking retard that's why. Instead of writing a better JRPG, he just avoided the pitfalls to save any potential loss of face. He fell for the "romances are dumb" meme just a little bit too hard. Vesperia had no catharsis because of this, as Yuri just sort of stares into Estelle's eyes and says "no hetero." He gets no character development either.

Xillia was a clusterfuck, instead of using tired out romance cliches, Baba just resorted to tired out anime cliches by making the sexual tension thicker than a bucket of bukkake cum but left their relationship ambiguous as fuck. Also, both characters were terribly written anyway.

Berseria just a shit stain of a story with even worse characters. Protagonist is in love with her brother because GOTTA CATCH THOSE SHOTA FANBASES. Again the ending is pants on head retarded.

Zestiria was clearly fujoshit bait through and through. First gay, beta protagonist start the trend in JRPGs, followed by Rex, Noctis, and Claude Wallace.

i always choose the same soulmate for lloyd every playthrough, it just feels wrong if i don't

>Yuri just sort of stares into Estelle's eyes and says "no hetero."
Yuri and Estelle don't have chemistry. Like, there's nothing in the writing to suggest there even should be a romance plot there.
The clear pairing is Yuri and Judy. You're right about no catharsis there though.

Sheena was top tier waifu.

Collete was so fucking boring and her being the default girl for Lloyd sucked ass.
Only idiot shit skins like poo fingers that idealize blonde white women unironically like her.

Yuri is the only example of a non-self insert who could literally be shipped with any character and it would still make sense.

Okay but what about the part where
>Estellise is completely ridiculously overjoyed by finding out he's alive and glomps him before he has a chance to recover from stab wound
>keeps making up excuses to tag along with Yuri
>clearly has the hots for Yuri because she can't stop fucking mentioning his name, even over characters like Flynn
>that fucking scene I just mentioned where you could cut the sexual tension with a knife
I'd honestly argue it's dumber they didn't hook up by the end, because all the development was there.

Yuri doesn't fuck autistic chicks
>glomps
just kys

I was using the term clinically to describe the scene in question, blow me

Since you're trying to push a romance narrative, you probably should have gone with "embranced". It's much more romantically charged.

embraces doesn't contain the necessary connotation to accurately describe what she does in the scene though. Embracing is a bit of an understatement

seriously consider suicide

Japs don't want you fucking with their shitty childhood friend LIs

damn, that rebuttal and refutation of my argument was flawless. Airtight. Guess I lost.

no seriously, consider killing yourself for thinking someone should seriously argue your pairing on Yea Forums with you, faggot

There isn't much to feel wrong about, though. Lloyd blows no one off, and while you miss some character backstory you will miss some by virtue of more than one character having any to give. It's amazingly low-risk.

I guess I'll just die then. Thanks for proving me wrong and showing the error of my ways.

I personally never thought it was that big a deal in the first place. the "romance system" was so halfassed that it may as well not have even been there at all. That said Most other games are either straight forward about relationships or dont have anything romance related at all. Innocence DS did it though and I remember accidently broing it up with Spada by end game.

>Baba
>Berseria
>even worse characters
>Protagonist is in love with her brother because GOTTA CATCH THOSE SHOTA FANBASES.
Go home user, youre drunk.

Playing this for the first time and I'm tolerating the plot so far and am trying not to skip through any dialogue, but I literally press the skip cutscene button when this stupid cunt shows up, I don't fucking care about her or what stupid shit she has to say. Fuck off.

Woops, I was indeed mistaken about the Baba part, but you're a low standard faggot if you think any of the characters in Berseria were good or even memorable. 80% of the cast were cynical, jaded, edgy cunts and there was no chemistry between any of them. And remember, just because the protagonist makes your pee pee hard, doesn't mean she's a genuinely good character.

no problem, autist

>The clear pairing is Yuri and Judy
There is no clear pairing one way or the other. Romance wasnt even a thing in Verperia to begin with, you guys need to chill. The fact that Vesperia didnt fall into that is one of the reasons I enjoyed it.

Berseria's cast was by far the best the franchise has had in years and claiming they dont have chemistry is just flat out wrong. And as hot as Velvet is, she's no Farah, Judith or Rutee.

Romance overall is already shit in video games, but games that let you choose your love interest are even worse.
>Finish road to your romantic interest of choice
>Nothing happens
A road that almost always can be summarized in giving her a few gifts, and that's it.
There's no character development whatsoever, when this should cause a major transiction in the dynamics between the characters.

Thus, it's better when the romance is portrayed as part of the main lore and not some minigame, as we usually get better character development out of it and actual consequences (withim the lore, no gameplay change whatsoever).

That said, Tales games are specially poor on this regard. The fucks who create it seem to purposely avoid romance in general.
I really don't get why there are any JRPG with huge focus on characters that feature no romance whatsoever.
It doesn't make sense.

What about a boy?

it's actually the best feeling in the world
it's like you feel really safe

men have nice and big arms and are stronger so the hug is tighter.

>interactions between Rokurou, Aizen, and Laphicet
>Magilou and Velvet's shenanigans
>Eleanor trying to straight man everybody
>no chemistry

The whole party was dysfunctional as hell but them being societal renegades is what gives the party charm. The only actual edgy character was Velvet and considering what happened to her she had every right to be.

Amazing, I hug my sister all the time, sometimes by her hips

>no chemistry between any of them
I can only see someone thinking this if they ignored all skits. Rokuro and eizen were great in skits and magilou went well with anyone. In terms of parties from nu-tales

Graces > berseria > xillia 1 > xillia 2 > zestiria

I really don't get why there are any JRPG with huge focus on characters that feature no romance whatsoever.
It doesn't make sense.

Because amazingly, people can interact without romance ever coming into play.

Did you see the mess he made during Zestirias development? He even managed to get fired from his own studio at squareenix.

>avoid romance in general.
good

Actually fuck the romance bullshit, I just dont want another bittersweet ending. The last 4 games have run with that shit, give it a rest already.

Lloyd belongs to Colette but I love Lloyd and Sheena the most!

>give it a rest already.
No way fag. It's the hip thing to do.

Warm and soft
