IS THERE A WORSE JOB THAN RED MAGE?
>hurr he can be both physical and use magic
Yeah, and he sucks at both, seriously fuck red mages.
IS THERE A WORSE JOB THAN RED MAGE?
Style > all else
they're generally pretty useful early on int he regular jrpg titles. In FFXI they were one of the most powerful support classes
Maybe so, but that's a cool fucking hat.
I am the Red Mage, pimpin' a feather in my hat
The name's JoJo, need something? Yeah I got that
The passive skills in Bravely are pretty cool
I remember being an MMO noob and playing XI for the first time, the only person who would help me get my Samurai job quest items was a Red Mage who led the way and solo'd everything. I've loved the class ever since.
>I got yelled at for not remembering my buffs the post
they're the best support personnel once you get used to managing the whole team and your buff timers
being a janny
Red mage was objectively the strongest character in the original on NES.
INT did nothing so they were as good at casting as both the black and white mages, but since half the spells in the game didn't work you could just only pick the good spells and not worry about all the trash you couldn't learn.
Given that the best weapon in the game could be equipped on anyone and access to both buff trees means they can supercharge an entire team it's basically pointless to run anything else.
The only downside is that they cost a fuckton of gold to get started, but who cares about early game when it's piss easy anyways and it doesn't matter that they fall off in later levels when the game ends before that even happens.
Red Mage usually makes an exceptional secondary ability set in early-mid game. Not so very great as a primary job, due to lower stat bonuses. But really, you ought to be able to make anything work in a Final Fantasy game.
Fucking TF2 fags
This. I used Red Mage early mostly because they could use both white and black magic. It usually gets out classed later on by another job that does the same thing but better
It tends to be worth it in the early games because there aren't that many spells that are actually good, so being able to use the good spells while still doing decent melee damage is nice.
Does it hurt to hold your hand up in the air all the time? Wouldn't you get carpal tunnel? It looks like it hurts. How long can you hold that? I would get carpal tunnel. How do they do that? Doesn't it hurt? Why do they do that? Can you really do that? I'd worry about carpal tunnel.
It's a shame they're Viera only in Tactics Advance.
Ask a fencer.
BLU > RDM
Exist porn with that characters?
Are you a fencer? Does it hurt?
They're useful in FF12 if you pair them with something good.
Its a white mage for when you don't want a white mage
They have doublecast in FFTA and it's the most broken ability in the game
Pilots wear helmets dumbats
Are you talking about his sword arm or his off hand?
If its the off hand the red mage is doing it because he's holding the bit that turns the rapier into a staff. IRL fencers hold it behind their back or use it for balance when they lunge.
If you mean the sword hand its not like you hold it up for hours, sword fights don't generally go very long and fencing foils are light as shit.
I mean the off hand. It looks weird. Wouldn't your hand get tired?
Red Mages are broken purely due to Doublecast. If they didn't have that crutch they'd be nothing but middling healers/damage dealers. It's almost always worth grinding up to get doublecast just because of how useful it is
They have cool hats.
That's about it.
Their doublecasting and ability to cast from health make them the second best class available to the best race in both Final Fantasy Tactics Advance games when combined with a Summoner.
I don't know what to say bro, its holding a magic floating thingy so I guess they don't got to explain shit.
That said its attached to the sword when you're casting and a RDM is casting like 80% of the time so I guess its not really an issue?
What's a good class to pair them with? I tried Red Mage/Archer on Vaan and he was extremely lack luster imo.
I would get carpal tunnel.
>FFTA 2
>Elementalist + Doublecast
Literally cheating
Red Mage/Monk is pretty fun
Jester/Gadabout. Dragon Quest III
my man
Vikings: the most disappointing class in any ff.
>taunt that can miss
>dps and tanking aren't even that remarkable
>terrible equipment pool that is also highly exclusive, so little to no sharing/reusing equipment you already have
>stores eventually stop selling Viking gear altogether and there's none to be found elsewhere, rendering vikings immediately obsolete
I usually hear that Vikings are pretty strong tanks, once you get the job levels high enough and pair them with a bard.
Were you playing Famicom or remake?
You forgot they can also wear armor and wield swords. No MP? No problem.
It can be powerful to be flexible, versatile and generally have more options. Master of none but you got options.
this. I like characters that aren't one trick ponies and have options for how to approach a situation

Depends on the game. RDMs were OP in FFXI. Everyone already thought they were a strong job, but then SE came out with a video where RDMs tanked the strongest monster in the game, which only added fuel to the fire.
>Elementalist + Doublecast
You must be in the earlygame, because late it's SUMMONER + Doublecast.
The way to use them is to dual wield shields
also a fun combo in FF5
>not being purple mage master race
it's a class that's supposed to be good in combination with other classes or for its passives
i know in bravely default all the abilities are really fuckin nice
Early to mid game having one character that deals elemental damage and can heal is useful. You never use them for melee. Late game in the games that have good job systems you can transfer double cast and or some of their other good passives to a better class making the levels in red mage absolutely worth it.
Remake. The whole job level shtick is galling to me for how grind-intensive it is. I played 5 first, so I'm spoiled on its job system.
Yeah, the III remake is kinda archaic in that way. Some of the jobs are very powerful (bard is another example), it's just that you need to grind Job Levels to bring out their full potential.
For example, the more Job Levels you have, the more likely Viking's taunt will work until it pretty much always lands if you cap the Job.
Of course, there's also the simple method of "equip two shields and hope taunt lands".
Duane and Brando were so good
Fencerd also sometimes hold their arm behind their back.
Not on my FFXI.
Don't insult me like that, I just like titans:c
kys phaseshitter
Red Mages often make good healers who are also capable of putting out DPS without expending mana
>*Hastes the party*
Yeah nah. Plus the class has evolved over time
>*Dualcasts your ass*
>Useful
I think you meant mindnumbingly broken
