It was a sham and unsurprisingly it quickly faded into obscurity

But it wasn't a sham, they're still making videos!

It wasn't infinite graphics, but it works and they have it. It looks kind of janky though because it tries to display all atoms but that obviously doesn't work because the database lacks the information. It shows like maybe 90%.

Wasn't this pretty much ray tracing from the top-down instead of bottom-up today?

this video sounds like made by someone who has absolutely no idea how computer graphics work
>muh polygons hurr hurr
>unlimited details hurr durr

>but it works and they have it
The shit their engine ended up as did nothing new. The promise included adding physics on top of it and making it an actual game engine, something that wasn't possible previously and still isn't now.
It was all a sham you nigger

I don't know about the physics jazz and making an actual game engine, but they legitimately have the engine and it's somewhat on youtube. The way to access it is terrible, but there's a forest video they did that looks pretty good.

Notch exposed them.

Actually this video confirms it's a scam.
They brag about how much higher details they can create over games. But that would require that the model is constantly recalculated from atoms to 3D which would run like shit.
>but it works
of course they say themselves they stole the concept from medicine, it's just not feasible for games, it's too much computing power

it doesn't matter it works when it needs to much computing power
there's a reason games look like they look
they are just a bunch of scammers who maybe wanted funding from retards like google or government

What about walking simulators with minimal interactivity?

no, every time you move or turn the camera it has to be fully recalculated
what you would get is high details like looking at sand corns but it would look like shit if it has to run on acceptable fps

games already look as good as they can
the thing that it has to be converted from atoms to 3D means the game would have to look worse

also the next thing is that creating games in such super high details will cost shitloads of money for no reason

I remember hordes of dumbfucks 10 years ago telling me this was the future of graphics and all next-gen games would look like this. I want you to know how retarded you are and how vindicated I feel. Tech illiterate shits.

the same people who funded Ouya

after several failed attempts at getting gaming products using their tech out to the consumer, they finally accepted that their tech was not as well suited for 3D videogames as they thought and refocused themselves fully on servicing archival and surveying industry, where they have had apparently decent success.

not a sham, just nowhere near as ready for commercial realtime interactive products as they thought all those years ago. they were just a few years ahead of the curve with a hack solution for what is currently the 'cutting edge' slowly working its way out (realtime raytracing over SVO).

cant stand this fake enthusiastic way of talking

>not a sham
it was a scam when they were selling it as a solution for games when they should have a clear idea it was not possible to work as they present it
the retard in that video basically tries to claim you get more polygons out of it but doesn't mention how the game would run on 1fps to constantly recalculate this shit

I remember 5 or so years ago a general on mchan that praised the company and ceo's like some sort of cult tried raiding /g/ with this nonsense but got btfo and exposed so they tried switching over to Yea Forums but got btfo again
i wonder if they still exist, to this day I've never seen anything more bizzare online
