>6 campaigns that last an hour
>Ai director is just a RNG for when hordes come
>VS is an unbalanced shitfest and only hunter and tank has any depth to it,
>L4D2 is more of the same just with more weapons
>Finish campaign on highest difficulty and thats it, no replayability
Why is Left 4 Dead highly rated?
L4D is overrated
No other game like it.
Pretty much this, and that's sad as fuck.
That said, I don't know why l4d was so enjoyable. Vermintide is basically the same thing, but I got burned out playing that incredibly fast. I don't even think I've seen all the levels in the second one.
I'm excited for vs mode in v2, though I doubt it will be as fun as 16v16 l4d2 vs servers. Holy shit those were a thrill to play.
It was kind of like Counter-Strike but PvE.
Because of the Valve bonus.
>6 hour long campaigns that don't overstay their welcome and are a perfectly condensed story each in themselves
that's bad how? do you want it to be some 100 hour dull open world game?
Remnant: From the Ashes is using that angle and combines scifi/high fantasy aesthetics and overall looks super rad. Also apparently generates unique routes and bosses.
This, not too long and not too short. Also, girls seem to love this game. If you want an egf play L4D.
>no replayability
L4D is one of the most replayable games out there
>Counter-Strike
How so? If anything, it plays more like Half-Life 2.
It's fun with friends and mods. You can have mindless fun with it without being skilled.
Ever heard of the KISS principle?
yeah, this is one of the only games I can (still) actually get people together to play, because of that very fact.
since 2 has all of 1's content + mods, there is also no shortage of content to play.
> everyone got mad when L4D2 was announced just a year after L4D
> they didn't want a yearly rehash like cawadooty
>Valve: ok
>10 years later...
This, people tend to think of a game better when there are no competitors. Even now there's hardly any coop shooters like L4D, and they're way past the mark for going up against it.
Honestly this is the only Valve franchise I give two shits about. (Portal is alright though)
>Left4Dead 3 never EVER
Is Source 2 just dead weight on Valve's offices at this point?
yeah, same. portal and left 4 dead are Valve's only good games
>Source 2
You mean Dota 2?
Play it with frens. You do have frens, right user?
>tfw Still waiting for SFM to be updated to Source 2
>tfw Still waiting for SFM to be updated
is that new game by turtle rock still in development?
>only hunter and tank has any depth to it
what? every special infected has the same amount of depth. theres the basic primary ability of each infected which is just "do damage" and then every infected has a little extra ability that requires some brainpower to pull of. jumping off walls for extra damage with hunter, throwing cars to insta gib people with tank, pulling people off ledges as hunter, suicide bombing downed people with boomer/spitter, lining up multiple people in a row as charger, riding people into horde as jockey, etc.
>Valve released a full feature sequel with one of the best gore systems without help from Turtle Rock studios in less than a year.
>This would be the first and last time
What's his name again?
L4D is literally first person resident evil outbreak
Yeah, but it'll be shit. It's a "spiritual successor" so it's gonna be shit.
it was incredibly fun with friends
>Literally nothing at all like each other other than having 4 people and zombie stuff
>First person outbreak
Can't wait for Back 4 Blood, considering Valve is never going to finish L4D3.
4 person horror game with multiple lengthy levels that take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and some minutes that you have to escape, featuring things like voice commands and miscellaneous comments about the area around them
the only major difference is that the special enemies in outbreak only appear in certain areas on certain maps and the limit to the amount of zombies in a room is like 6
>4 person horror game with multiple lengthy levels that take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and some minutes that you have to escape, featuring things like voice commands and miscellaneous comments about the area around them
Yeah if you forgot all the item based and puzzle stuff in outbreak they really sound alike
>pre ordered the game with barely any knowledge beforehand because i like experiencing everything new
>gunplay was disappointing as fuck
>the response of the zombies were canned so it didn't feel that good to shoot them
>game was literally unfinished with only half of the maps being playable
>took them like a quarter of a year or so to release the second half
>melee fatigue was added in later for balance
>the free DLC was basically a horde mode and not what people were expecting
>people kept thinking that more DLC would be coming since it's valve
>L4D2 is announced and people are pissed because it was so soon after L4D and the original didn't even feel fully finished
This all happened during the peak of steam and valve cocksucking though so it got buried.
>melee fatigue was added in later for balance
no it wasn't, that was l4d2
Versus was ebic
I played the SHIT out of the 360 version way back when.
Hilariously balanced in survivor's favor though.
