If it's just a general username, I use one I came up with.

I only ever get hung on on character names when full names are obligatory. One word names and nicknames are easy as shit but when you gotta make a fucking family for your character its gay. When I tried FFXIV I probably spent 2 weeks in character creation JUST because I couldn't come up with a surname for my character that I liked.

Depends on the genre of fiction. Fantasy or scifi that doesn't take place in our hypothetical future: I mash syllables together until I get something that seems fitting. Like Kayren Morrso or Boragg Tohr.
