>canonizes the meme of doomguy being op
>makes it someone else

Reminder that this is Hugo Martin, the creative director of the new Dooms, favorite Doom game. Anyone who thinks they aren't the same is a fucking braindead moron.

Doom64 isn't canon

Doom 64 is a great game. Wish it had more enemies, but that is the only complaint.

Read thisthen have sex.

>Reminder that this is Hugo Martin, the creative director of the new Dooms, favorite Doom game
Source? That's cool if true. Doom 64 is a fantastic game and highly underrated.

This

Can't say I'm a huge fan of the "soundtrack", but otherwise I agree, it's superior to Doom 2 in many ways.

I thought he said Doom64 was his first Doom game.

Doomguy remained in Hell and fought demons and then after Hell invaded Argent D'Nur the templars found him and made him their king and then someone else WHO IS NOT DOOMGUY/SLAYER betrayed them and demons absorbed Argent D'Nur and then DoomGuy went back into Hell and fought the demons even more and then got trapped in his tomb.

OR

DoomSlayer was the ruler of Argent D'Nur and betrayed them and was sent to Hell and inevitably trapped in his tomb.

Oh and even the fucking Quake Champions game which everyone praises as gospel because it has Daisy's foot admits that they are all separate characters.

Attached: Quake Champions.png (502x874, 418K)

I love the soundtrack. It's different, absolutely, but it feels right with the darker atmosphere and artstyle that 64 was given. It only works with that game, though, I tried to PS1 Doom port and the new audio just doesn't work with the old artstyle.

The Lore skins for every character are past versions of each character. They are all canon. Every other skin is just flavor. That plus the Daisy's foot lore item means Doom Slayer = Doomguy.

How are Doom Marine and Doomguy the same character.

People who say he isn't the same Doomguy are the flat-earth theorists of video game theories.

>Every other skin is just flavor

According to who? id clearly has no issue treating it as important as the other main Doom entries. More so than Final Doom, even.

Attached: 1562555875501.png (946x677, 1.41M)

He said all the skins are canon yet every other skin is just flavor. What does this mean? He didn't specify what "every other" skin is. What skin was he referring to initially?

WHY THE FUCK DO YOU CARE ABOUT THE STORY IN DOOM
IT VERY EXPLICITLY DOESN'T MATTER
WHAT, ARE WE GONNA DEBATE WHAT FLAVOR PEACH'S CAKE IN MARIO 64 IS NEXT?

Literally just there to make Doom 3 fans happy. Nothing more. The base skin and the lore skins are all connected to each other for every character.

Reminder that the Seraphim is visible on Doom Eternal's cover art.

Attached: 1546418516343.png (560x814, 785K)

why are people so against the idea of the doomslayer and doomguy being the same thing?

Attached: 1561142905520.gif (530x620, 2.69M)

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's bad, it's just such a departure that it feels really "off." I suppose that's probably what they were going for, and in that regard it's a good soundtrack, I just prefer the classic Doom music.

>He said all the skins are canon yet every other skin is just flavor.
He said the *lore* skins are canon, with the others being flavor skins. In this case the Doomguy skin is the unlockable lore skin, with the Arena and Marine skins being added for flavor.

Because it’s retarded

You are contradicting yourself. The DOOM 3 skin is just there to appeal to the audience, it means nothing. Yet you follow that with "the base skin and the lore skins are all connected". So is the DOOM 3 skin connected or not?

It's just one guy who keeps trying to come up with shitty arguments otherwise.

Him implied to be the same guy is the best part of the nulore, you dumb faggot. Him being some nobody original character would be lame as fuck.

It's just a few people trolling.

>Muh loooooooore

It's one extremely autistic individual who has really bad arguments and constantly makes threads over it. It's really pathetic.

Because the Doom Slayer isn't human, he's from a previously conquered race.

That wasn't me that said that, flat-earther.

Former, no contest

Yep. It’s why you never see his face in DOOM and why his armor covers him from head to toe while Doomguy has his arms exposed

If you don't understand that the Doomguy and DoomSlayer are two different people you are too far gone.

Attached: Councilmen.jpg (1200x900, 141K)

Then I guess Eternal retconned him into being the original Doomguy.

Realistically, how will they explain that in-game. Will they just assume that the audience has played DOOM 64?

>This guy who you think is an otherwordly demon slayer from Argent D'Nur is actually human and he used to live on Earth and another demon invasion happened at a corporation coincidentally also called UAC and the earth was completely destroyed then he went into Hell again and became king of Argent D'Nur.

Attached: CE.jpg (1199x718, 148K)

Can you please tell me why it's not a good thing that they are the same character? Like, what do you get out of them being different? To me, them being the same guy makes all of Doom (2016) so much better when you think about him stopping this all before, going to and staying in Hell, getting donned with some sweet armor in Hell, getting out of Hell and putting a ton more demons back in their place all while being so fucking vicious that literal demons tell campfire stories about him.

>This guy who you think is an otherwordly demon slayer from Argent D'Nur

Only a few brainlets think that. Majority says he's the same Doomguy from the classics.

Because it doesn't make sense, man. Earth was destroyed along with the UAC in DOOM 1, 2 and 64. Now in Doom 2016 Earth is totally fine and the UAC is back and no one back on Earth is aware that demons exists? How does this make sense? Alternate universe? Jesus man how complex of a story are they planning to weave.

Attached: Burning Clown World.jpg (799x1200, 98K)

>This guy who you think is an otherwordly demon slayer from Argent D'Nur
If Doomguy's from Argent D'nur then why is his armor a completely different style compared to the Night Sentinals? Because he isn't.

I hope one of the DLC's is from the demons perspective.

If Daisy's foot didn't exist in a game that is not even Doom you would think that he's from D'Nur. Literally all of the Lore in the game points to that.

ur moms pusy isn't canon

>How does this make sense? Alternate universe?

Yes, because dimensional travel is the main crux of Doom?

The armor was specifically crafted for him by the Seraphim.

>The armor has english letters on it! It's from Earth!

The demon masters in hell also speak English. They're from Earth too, right?

Attached: Expand Your Mind.png (1186x1190, 2.44M)

>Now in Doom 2016 Earth is totally fine and the UAC is back and no one back on Earth is aware that demons exists?
It's a parallel dimension. 2016 also confirms that the events of Doom 3 occurred in a parallel dimension. 2016 then also confirms that you can travel to different dimensions through hell, since it acts as a connecting point for the different worlds it invades.

It's not rocket science.

Attached: 1545499731700.jpg (1024x576, 118K)

I bet it's strawberry

Every characters' base skin and lore skin are canonical, everything in between those are just for fun.

For starters, Earth is never mentioned in 2016, as the entire story takes place on Mars/Hell. As for the UAC you really have a point there. Because no one could ever rebuild a corporation sarcasm

Yes but realistically how will they explain that within the course of the game? How will they explain it in a way that is comprehendable? They can't, man. It's much easier to just say "it's a reboot of DOOM 1 and 2".

Attached: Gnomes.jpg (1200x834, 300K)

you're right it's demon science

>They're from Earth too, right?
It is the melting pot of the universe after all.

>The armor was specifically crafted for him by the Seraphim.
No it wasn't. It was given to Doomguy by a traitor demon, "the wretch".

Better give a good explanation why the demons are back to the old style.

why the fuck would they explain anything slight hint is enough why the fuck do you over-analyze the plot of fucking doom game goddamn stupid nerds

People were saying he was the same Doomguy ever since the story leaked, flat-earther. None of the in-game lore contradicts this at all and is intentionally left vague.

Seriously, have sex. I recognize your posting style from the last thread. Stop trying to argue your headcanon when you barely have fucking shit to support it.

Earth is mentioned various times by the hologram greeter and the PDAs.

Attached: Camille Claudel.jpg (789x981, 88K)

>realistically how will they explain that within the course of the game?
Why do they need to? People have already put the pieces together themselves.

Don't get mad at me now because I make more sense than you do.

Attached: dietary habits.png (870x432, 368K)

Phylogenetic trees apply to demons as well.

>sense

lmao

Personally figured that since hell doesn't have the Wraith Well or Argent anymore, they went back to their old ways.

More shit to support my theory than yours.

hugo martin is based AF, watch interviews with him

Don't worry in eternal they'll make sure to separate the two Doom guys by adding unnecessary amounts of lore. :)

You're a pretty effective troll, I'll give you that. These threads are pretty great bait.

The demons in 2016 were having their DNA manipulated to be better suited for bio-weaponry. The demons in Eternal are original demons from Hell. I don't know why they're all still the UAC ones when you go to Hell though. There's mention in the monster descriptions about their experimental Pinkies escaping and returning to Hell though

its eerie and desolate, Quake II N64 uses the same and its eerie as fuck.

i used that one for use on Zaero for Q2, since modern ports can use different folders for music

Attached: 26FC9788-FD22-45B6-A31D-0C968C146E99.jpg (376x1024, 50K)

Well, I guess the rebuilt UAC helped get Earth back on its feet after the disaster using all the Argent energy that was left over from literal demons attacking

>rebuilt UAC
No. See

>ww2 is hell

deepest lore

Okay but why are they pretending that everyone on Earth or even on the lower-levels of UAC personnel don't know that demons exist? Wouldn't their parents tell them about how their ancestors survived a fucking apocalyptic demonic invasion.

Attached: Agharta.jpg (962x1000, 297K)

Otto Von Bismark was right

Something must had happened to case this parallel timeline shenanigans, also the 2009 wolfenstein game is Canon to RTCW and 3d

Yeah, and wait, Deathshead was in 2009, also, AND rtcw

>2009 wolfenstein game is Canon to RTCW and 3d
It's also canon to the the nuWolf games, as is certain aspects of RTCW.

The whole "split timelines" thing is too messy, imo. I think it's better to just set things as parallel dimensions that feature some differences from each other.

Please allow me to concoct the storyline leading up to Doom 2016 based ont he infromation present on this thread.

>A really long time ago a portal to Hell uponed up on a UAC base on mars. A marine fights them off but the demons find a way to Earth where they completely destroy everything but the Doomguy kills them all. Sometime after that, he goes back to Hell and stays there for a reall fucking long time to supress the demons. Then a place called Argen D'Nur gets invaded by demons but they find doomguy and make him their king. Then another guy who IS NOT DOOMGUY I REPEAT IS NOT DOOMGUY betrays everyone and their world gets absorbed into Hell and the doomslayer fights demons there and gets trapped in a tomb.

>THEN... His tomb is brought back to another dimension that is completely identical to his initial dimension, even having the exact same name of the space organization, except demons have never invaded there. Then they release him to stop a demon invasion.

This is canon btw.

Attached: Civilization 4.jpg (1192x805, 167K)

I'm trying to think of a way without all that, while I'd be fine if that is the case, I'd like to think he returned to his own dimension. Unless they do something that makes 3 canon in Eternal's world, I'll believe what I do.

That's a bold assumption. I was under the impression that the members of the UAC all knew that their power was coming from demons. Just because some were tricked into becoming Revenants doesn't mean no one told them about demons. They probably thought they were getting augmented to fight demons. I mean, there's lots of assumptions going on, but I don't really remember anything about people being unaware of the existence of the literal thing that the UAC was studying and getting its power source from. Don't the holograms talk about Hell pretty extensively?

It's mentioned in the data logs that only "Tier 3 advocates" are aware of where the energy truly stems from. Holograms in sub-tier 3 locations only make subtle nods toward demonic activity. Another data long mentions that people back on Earth are suspicious regarding the nature of Argent energy, but the UAC refuses to comment on the issue.

He literally wakes up in nu-doom in just his skivvies, he's blatantly human.
An over the top buff human befitting a marine that's slain countless demons, but a human nonetheless.
youtube.com/watch?v=5azKGR3K4bg

>I'm trying to think of a way without all that
Why? It's clearly what 2016 sets up as being the case.
>Unless they do something that makes 3 canon in Eternal's world
It already is? Eternal's a sequel to 2016, which already confirmed that 3 happened in some form with the stone etchings referencing when hell tried to invade ancient Mars (like they did in 3), and the soul cube being present in Olivia's office.

All of the templars in Argent D'Nur are clearly humans too.

The Soul Cube is an easter egg, in the same way the Turkey Puncher 3 arcade game is. It doesn't have to mean anything. The stone etchings are the iconic piece of cover-art for DOOM 1. It's in the game because it's recognizable as a piece of Doom's history.

Was it the demons that took off his suit or the UAC?

Well, I'd be suspicious too if people were getting power from Nazis, doesn't mean I don't think that Nazi's exist or don't remember that they did. But, the beauty of the human race is that we can believe different things and both make wild assumptions based on what we took from the game.

I mean, while he's right it doesn't "have to" mean anything, the fact that the Soul Cube is there is pretty interesting and I don't think I even noticed it.

>already have safe, plentiful, and renewable source of energy with the advances in nuclear energy
>"What if we replace it with mining demon energy in hell instead for a better profit margin?"

Attached: ancap.jpg (262x192, 7K)

I recommend that you actually read the logs if you want to understand the background of the game.

Doom 64 for PC, it's good.

>doom64ex.wordpress.com/

Fucking sweet. Thanks, user.

I never played Quake Champions because it's a shitty game. Either explain your shitty game to me or don't expect me to take you seriously.

I shill it in every Doom thread I see because it's actually a really nice game and being able to play it on PC natively is really nice.

>It doesn't have to mean anything
What a cop out. There's nothing saying it doesn't mean anything either.
>The stone etchings are the iconic piece of cover-art for DOOM 1
The etchings are a direct reference to 3's stone etchings as they both feature the soul cube on them. Besides 2016 already has a reference to 1's cover in the form of pic related.

Attached: 1541846731807.jpg (422x516, 97K)

We dont actually see them naked, but it's possible.

>Demons dropped a temple on him and sealed him in a box.
>Jacked his armor while he was unconscious and put that in a seperate box.
>Hid both boxes in hell with giant DO NOT OPEN YOU FUCKING RETARDS stamped all over.
>UAC come along and open both.
Whoever dropped the temple on him was so scared of him waking up that they didnt take the oppotuntity for murder.
Or they just thought it wouldn't stick.

Fuck you its peach

Tier 1 and 2 are certainly aware that there are "non-human entities" within the facility considering that this is in their training manual, what was it that you wanted me to find?

>Or they just thought it wouldn't stick.
most likely, it's like with ajins. better kept in constant coma rather than killing them in combat

If I wanted to play basic-ass doom right now, what's the best way to go about it?

It’s peach flavor, dumbass

(You)

I don't get up in arms about it, but I like to imagine Doomguy is just a typical college bro military guy, the equivalent of Adrian Shephard. Having him be some immortal monstrosity that even the demons fear kinda dilutes the appeal of him being a normal person that perseveres through extraordinary circumstances and beats the odds. I want to believe he gets a happy ending after Doom 2 or Final Doom or whatever and isn't consigned to fighting demons for eternity. At the most I would be okay with some sort of timeline split, one where Doom 1 led to Doom 2 and the other wads, and one where Doom 1 led to 64 and then Nudoom.

Attached: maku-zoku-17-finale.jpg (1920x2715, 1014K)

Nu-doom lore is cringe. Linking it to older games is unacceptable.
