This makes me sad because it's absolutely true. Pillars of niggery and the other games were trash, so was Torment Numenera. BG3 may be coming but it's made from a studio that made couch shit like Divinity.
Inquisiton starts after a very important event in DA2 that should have huge consequences, but that event doesn't really have a huge consequence and Inq is about something else entirely so you can skip it

Main bad guy is from one of DA2's DLC's apparently and you also recreate DA2's main character.
Don't play either of them. Dragon Age was born and died with Origins.
I feel like Awakening gets ignored way too much. It was a big improvement over Origins in every way.
The Big Bad of Inquisition is first introduced in one of DA2's DLC's. The red lyrium thing is also one of the main subplots in DA2.
IMO DA2 is also a much better game than Inquisition, just play it.

Not really, they tell you the main points. The main antagonist is from a DLC though, which sucks and would be nice to play his specific DLC although not required.

When people talk about Origins they include Awakening. besides ultimately no one cares. The franchise died with DA2.
the only problems with awakening was how bugged it was and how if your warden died you had to import them resurrected with no explanation. Vigils Keep was comfy and the Architect is way better than Corypheus
Awakening was way too buggy and because of the retarded decision to keep your levels from Origins it had basically no difficulty. The newly added OP abilities ruined the combat even further. That one bow ability was especially OP, you could kill a dragon in seconds with it.
On top of that you used dex for that IIRC and since dex also gives you evasion you were unkillable too

Most people I know play Dragon Age for the characters and story twists, not the run-of-the-mill combat and dungeon crawling. And DA2 made the combat much faster and the dungeons way shorter, so you never really feel like you're just grinding to get to the next story bit.
DA2 combat felt more of a slug to me because of respawning enemies

The lore comes across as disjointed bits of stories that are seemingly written and retconned as the series goes. But then again I never paid much attention to it.

they aren't nearly as good, but they don't retread a lot of the same territory in terms of plot or geography, so I found them easy enough to separate.
2 is a mess with just enough interesting sections and characters to string you along to the end. I can't honestly recommend it because it is objectively shoddy as a whole, but I had some fun with it, and it had some memorable characters.
inquisitions is a competent 10-hour game that was stretched to 30+ hours with loads of filler (areas, missions, and chirpy/quippy dialogue segments too). it's an okay game that gets excessive hate on Yea Forums because there's a ftm trans character with about 10 lines of dialogue. the characters are actually less interesting than what they managed in 2 somehow, but it's still worth playing. the two main story DLCs are good and don't have a lot of the aforementioned filler.
