Was this a good twist?

Was this a good twist?

Attached: dsc02263b.jpg (480x640, 95K)

Yes, and it was easily the best executed twist in the series.

>despite everything, it's still just you

>stupid interdimensional time-travel bullshit
would be good if there was an actual realistic explanation behind it

Game is still full of plotholes and shit doesn't make sense in the grand scheme of things.

yep, one of the best in all of vidya

please greentext me the plot

Yes, but it was a bit disappointing to me, because I was expecting all of your different playthroughs to come into play as information from different timelines or something. Kind of like what they did in VLR, which made me very excited when I played it afterwards.

life is simply unfair
dont you think

IIRC that particular scene is some time loop shit, fixing shit in the past.

my motives are complex

>9 random people are trapped and will die in 9 hours
>Except it's not random they all have a connection to a series of experiments on kids to get them to activate the ability to use psychic abilities
>Some of the people were experimented on, some had some part in organizing the experiments
>The 19 year old girl with you was experimented on as a child and was successfully able to use her abilities, but relied on communicating with your timeline to survive the experiment as it was a puzzle that was impossible to solve on her own 9 years ago sudoku
>She is actually the mastermind of the game and trapped everyone to avoid the paradox
>The scenario is deadly to create tension, and one of the players is the leader of the experiments and is trying to cover his tracks and by killing everyone

fug

>Your mom

the OP pic in particular is the reveal that the top screen and bottom screen (it's a Nintendo DS game) have been two entirely separate POVs the entire time.

what is game?

9 hours 9 persons 9 doors

No, it contradicts that puzzle room with the photos of Junpei and pals.

Attached: g.jpg (325x155, 9K)

How? I haven't played in forever

I don’t understand how the girl telepathically connected to Junpei, isn’t it only supposed to happen between twins?

COMPLEX

It's because both of them were in dangerous situations I think.

Is it still dual screen on other devices?

They were aware of it. The twist in itself is good, they just needed to rework that one puzzle.

Bottom screen is Akane solving the puzzles, so why would there be pictures of the future contestants.

No. The Pc port is botched

No.
>Akane Vision
holy shit, what were they thinking

>snail leads to jogger getting killed
>man realizes life is unfair and creates a doomsday cult
>he shoots himself once revealing himself, foiling his own plan

Densely packed Deltas

>you can turn it off
>if someone turns it off, when the name changes to Akane Vision it turns on and stays on
>players who do this are suddenly slapped in the face with a twist they don't even know about stuffed into a mechanic they thought they had turned off
I know it's impossible to replicate on a single screen but for fuck's sake

Oh, and how about the puzzle they decided to replace sudoku with
>solution is nearly complete and clearly says "password"
>takes about 10 seconds to flip the corresponding letters in
>you don't even need to know the rules of the puzzle to solve it

Don't forget
>then you're supposed to enter another password by hand
>if you fail often enough Junpei will just straight up tell you the password

You're a little girl the entire time until the ending

That actually sound pretty neat. How does that affect the game?

Attached: 1541005245245.png (300x310, 3K)

Oh it's amazing, but depending oh how you feel about endings the series in general might be a hit or miss.

it doesn't change the game all that much since it's a VN but the buildup and execution of that reveal was 10/10

No, top screen is Akane solving the puzzles. You're transmitting the answers to her by playing on the bottom screen. You just flip at the end.

you later realize that large portions of the narrative occur from a different character, in a different time and place and that a very central plot point is confirmed as being real in-universe.

Don't want to spoil it too much.
Play it, it's a good game. It's a VN with actual puzzles and like 9 endings.

It doesn't really change anything about the game, it's just one of those twists that retroactively changes your understanding of something you didn't think twice about before

Take a look at the picture in the OP and think again which perspective each screen represents.

You wake up on the Titanic and have to solve puzzles to escape or a bomb inside you will kill you.
The number 9 is very important.

Yes, the Titanic. Even though it's been sunk for decades.

It was pretty cool, that last minute sudoku however...

it can technically happen between anyone with a strong link. Twins is just supposed to be easy.

No, it doesn't. You're in a stable time loop.

old man siggy was a better twist

Attached: Despite everything its still you.png (914x472, 295K)

What's your problem with the Sudoku?

Well Sudoku is hard for a 9 year old about to be fire blasted

Somehow didnt realise my spoiler tags weren't up.
As far as a narative goes, you solve all the puzzles on the bottom screen as well as interal dialauge shows on the bottom screen. Asside from one particular scene involving getting wet in an elevator, the plot twist reveals that all the thoughts and puzzle solving you did in the game was the result of the girl in the past, except at the point in ops screen shes supposed to die cause apparenty sudoku is hard.
The game then turns upside down so now the touch screen is on the top screen, thus solving the puzzle in the future to save the past.

it's actually not the titanic but the gigantic, which is one of the titanic's sister ships, and it's not even the real ship

>No, it doesn't. You're in a stable time loop.
Why would there be photos of Junpei and co in the past?

*blocks your path*

did you know? ever 17 was released in the year 17, just like how hitman 2016 was released in the year 2016

>apparently sudoku is hard
it is when you're like eight with an alarm blaring and the knowledge you're about to be fucking incinerated

That was actually one of the things he oopsed on. There's also the small character cards that also have their pictures even though that's impossible too. iirc he even got asked about it in the Q&As

Why did people hype this up again? You won't even know it's impact on a first playthrough anyways.

Oh, that's simple.
The moment you enter the Cargo Hold, you're outside of the stable time loop. the bottom is no longer another perspective.
It's ALL JUNPEI. Why? Because the only valid reason that route exists is to get the SAFE ending, which is a dead-end. Akane never survives the first nonary game in this timeline.

Can somebody please explain the story behind that picture with the blonde guy looking in disbelief in the mirror? I see it posted in ZE threads almost all the time and I'm really curious.

To be honest, the best twist is still "you're blue now" by a mile, even if it had no plot relevance.

Ever17
Admittedly I haven't read it but from what I recall you're led to believe you're playing as a kid but the twist turns out that you're like 7 years older, sorta like Old Sigma in VLR.

That, the remaining boss mix-ups, OH YEAHor was it OH YES?, and Mercy being destroyed were so much better.

Addendum, it's "impact" is pratically nothing.

Uchi already confirmed that the bottom screen is Akane throughout the game and this one puzzle room was some kind of oversight.
>you're outside of the stable time loop
There is no real stable timeloop in 999 as for the true ending you need multiple timelines.
>Akane never survives the first nonary game in this timeline.
So who would set up the second game?

So what's the name of this game?

You and the POV character are lead to believe he's the kid on the left when he's actually the kid on the right

Attached: Ever17%3A.Out.of.Infinity.full.1460820.jpg (2116x3007, 956K)

Boku no piko. It has an anime you can watch for true ending route

>You and the POV character are lead to believe he's the kid on the left when he's actually the kid on the right
How does that work? They didn't have any mirrors too?

Is Remember11 good? Does it have some mind blowing plot twists too?

is sudoku really that hard that June couldnt save herself?

Depending on how you replayed the game, the first look at the mirror has no context. Seeing it again, at the end, seems to be important, but still doesn't provide context. When you start a genocide, then it's "fuck". It's extremely subtle but somehow important despite being a flavor text machine.

Been to long, but I think there was just no reason to take a good look at yourself while being trapped in an underwater amusement park that's slowly filling with water

>while being trapped in an underwater amusement park that's slowly filling with water
But.. you're in an underwater amusement park, aren't there tons of aquarium? In VLR you can say that the mirrors were made to be fucked up by Sigma before the game started.

Oh fuck, really? I played 999 on a fucking ipod touch lmao, guess I missed out on that

Reading up on it again, there was amnesia involved with that character, so there is your excuse

Yep, and it was the peak of the series. Going back to the game with the context of the morphogenetic field makes it even better. This game is pure kino from start to finish. If only the PC port was any good.

>one window is a dudes face
>other window is a girls face
>NO BUT THE TWIST IS THAT THEY'RE TWO SEPERATE POVS
No shit?

Kanny is kawaii!

Attached: June_(10).png (314x479, 170K)

>Kanny
>Canny
>Cunny

>picture is reveal of the twist
>reveals the twist
Amazing concept isn't it?

Kanny is a stupid girl that used Junpei for her needs, and when he was at his worst she STILL didn't came to him!

Attached: smug aset.png (1920x1080, 1.1M)

It should be pretty obvious that OP's image is the moment the reveal is made

is the nonary game son steam good? i havent played any of these games before and want to give them a go

ZTD isn't canon

Attached: Please do not bully the kanny.png (256x384, 47K)

Nothing will ever beat this.

Attached: hqdefault.jpg (480x360, 11K)

999 is objectively worse on Nonary Games, but it's still a good game
VLR is basically the same as it ever was

ok thanks, is it much worse? and can i play on an emulator or should i just stick to steam

It's just that it does the same "HD sprite" thing that Phoenix Wright got, they added voice acting (which isn't very good), there's a specific narrative choice that doesn't work at all on a single-screen system, and they replaced the final puzzle with absolute garbage

It should be easy enough to emulate if you don't have a DS

Attached: protard.jpg (1068x1200, 90K)

>In five minutes
I took longer than that, so yeah, no wonder she would die.
