Why was it so much more soulful than the sequels?

Why was it so much more soulful than the sequels?

2 had more soul

Was it? 2 and 3 were pretty good, I thought.

ratchet 1 had the best visuals and story, all of the ps2 titles have soul mate

they were all excellent games, I'd even say 2 was a better game overall, but I thought 1 had the richest atmosphere. Best aesthetics, best music, so many memorable NPCs,
the best main dynamic and arcs for the main characters including asshole Ratchet and clank's mom, etc.

This, 1 is such trash but 2 is pure kino

1 is a great game you're just a fag

ya nigga, it was so fucking good they completely remade it

they remade it because of the movie
and the remake sucked balls

Yeah but 2 improved on the movement and also added nice stuff like health and weapon upgrades and holds up a lot better than 1, that being said RaC1 was still great, just not as great as RaC2 (or 3) desu

I actually don't like the health upgrade system as much. Weapon mods were cool, and an improvement over the gold bolt stores in the original, but I didn't particularly enjoy upgrading them with xp.

Strafing made the game more comfortable but also removed a lot of the interesting movement options and enemy designs. I wouldn't say it's a straight improvement, just that it's something different.

Theres a two hour long video by a britfag that explains it all

2>3>1

but all still top tier

That's fair, I felt the XP upgrades felt more rewarding than using gold bolts + regular bolts to upgrade weapons with. I can definitely see what you mean with the movement though, RaC1 has a lot of cool momentum based stuff you can do like chaining long jumps and such for more speed.

The first 3 were all great 1>3

Couldn't have said it better myself.
R&C1 had more of a focus on platforming, and the lack of an experience point system meant more difficult fights couldn't be cheesed by leveling up your weapons or grinding for more max health. The entire trilogy is fantastic. In spite of its shortcomings 3 is the one I replay the most. I've maxed out everything at this point and I'll do an NG+ run to kill an afternoon.

deadlocked is CLEARLY the best game out of the Ps2 games desu

Why were Ratchet and Clank games called diffrent in yurop and burgerland? Why is gladiator deadlocked?

I enjoyed the gold bolt upgrades because it helped mix together the collectathon exploration with the combat. I felt it really emphasized the hybrid gameplay style, making one reward the other.
2 improved on this system by adding more mod shops and not requiring you to spend crazy amounts of regular bolts to get your weapon mods.

The american titles were too spicy for yuros I guess.

This is what I'm talking about.

Sony's European division were sensitive sissies back in the day.

Because ratchet was an asshole, which made the dynamic between him and clank more interesting.

Why did Ratchet and Clank 3 have so many covers?

Attached: Ratchet_&_Clank_3_kansikuva.jpg (353x500, 66K)

it did?

I do get why Japs had a different one but whats with the other 4?

haha what the fuck

>Original
>Because Yurop didn't like the "arse" in Up Your Arsenal
>Because the Net Play infinity logo didn't catch on

They had to keep remaking the cover in PAL for various retarded reasons is my guess.

>Because Yurop didn't like the "arse" in Up Your Arsenal
The majority of europe doesn't speak english

3>2>1
but the total quality gap between 3 and 1 is minuscule

3 > 1 = glad > 2
for me

Localization is a funny thing, user.

Which Ratchet and Clank game had the best looking RYNO? for me its the first one

Attached: RYNO_render.png (350x295, 82K)

europoors are fucking weird man.

Because you get to look at Ratchet’s cute feet

not a ryno but in terms of how the actual projectiles look, the harbinger unparalleled

not bad user

Because ratchet's ears have proper physics. You can see the difference between 1 and the rest if you wear the classic skin in 3 and see that his ears are just static in 3 because they use the same physics has his helmet regardless

2 had extremely soulless environments

Name them so I can agree or disagree

1 is the best

people like this are retards

>soulful than the sequels

Soulful because the story, therefor the journey was worth it.

The First Ratchet & Clank was shit. Gameplay was fine, camera angles are fucking horrible, the enemy placement is suffocating, and the textures suffer from ps1 wrapping syndrome. The only thing I liked about it were the cutscenes and the music.

Cause he's barefoot

>He could not handle Thugs 4 Less.

Right answer

>the enemy placement is suffocating,
literally just learn to dodge, it's the only Ratchet game where character positioning is interesting
>and the textures suffer from ps1 wrapping syndrome.
what the hell are you talking about? There was some weird LoD stuff going on but there definitely wasn't any texture warping.

Isn't that weapon that brainwashes enemies? If so why is there an explosion?

2 > 3 > 1
all of them are great games
remake on ps4 should be fucking removed from existance

RC2 at least had color, UYA was soulless as fuck.

Man, that box art just oozes soul.

I have learned to dodge, it's the fact that some of these enemies are incredibly cheap and eat up your health faster than you can tell how far away they are. The camera doesn't help either because a lot of these enemies are often hidden away from your field of view and often bullshit their way towards you and attack you. What makes this worse are the lack of visual checkpoints. There are incredibly long linear sections of platforming that usually leads up to some enemy encounters, if you die you have to repeat that 5 minute section all over again just to see if you can attempt at that one tricky section. It doesn't make you better at the game, it serves no other purpose other to waste the players time.

Ratchet had personality and the music in most levels reflected that, a real early 2000s hip hop / punk vibe.

The only soulless planet in the entire game is the last planet, it just screams "generic enemy HQ"
Also Smolg is criminally underrated, just look at this. I hope they never remake it, making the ground visible would ruin the soul.

Because it had an arc. It's like with any buddy-cop movie sequel: what's the point if they'd already die for each other?

I fucking love that level and its general vibe, but according to the developer commentary, its a mistake to them and most people hate it.

Redpill me on Tools of Destruction

Because Ratchet was an absolute chad shitting on virgin Clank the whole game. In sequels he became a pussywhipped nerd, much like Clank.

all of the ones that copy R&C1 levels like endako/megaopolis

>"Come on down to slim cognitos sneaky handjob parlor."

Attached: file.png (287x176, 16K)

Most people are tasteless faggots and I don't care what they think, it's a great level and it oozes soul. The only "mistake" in that level is not putting some kind of puzzle when using the levitator (like flying through some rings to disable a force field for example, generic sure but other than in silver city you never use that shit so it could have been nice), but even without it just by the fact you can get so up in the sky and cover such great distances makes the level even better.

Ratchet 1 was the only game that gave Ratchet a character arc. The ps2 sequels ceased on giving him any further character development and just had fun with the idea that he's now an experienced galactic hero and then the future saga just wasted time answering the question of what happened to his race when it was never really an important part of Ratchet's backstory that needed to be explored.

The galactic peacekeepers or what they were called in 3 were hilarius.
Always was funny to jump into the fray with them.
