Is stadia just the natural end of video games, you don’t own the console, the game, the connection, any of the data. Have to pay for a console fee, a publisher fee, a gamer connection fee, the dlc/preorder fee. And loot boxes if you don’t want to fall behind.
Why does this have to happen, I already know it’s gonna be mega successful, are gamers just the weakest willed people?
Take the indiepill user Leave stupid bullshit behind and play itchio and gamejolt games
James Thompson
>are gamers just the weakest willed people? The wouldn't be gamers otherwise.
Camden Parker
Latency will kill it. Especially for multiplayer games. It won't be popular among anyone who isn't a complete and utter casual.
Justin Anderson
>complete and utter casual So most gamers?
Brayden Lee
I took the indie pill a while ago I just wish they still had huge mega games I could get excited about as a celebration of potential, resources and talent took place.
Michael Evans
Indies are as stagnant as the dead sea. There's no innovation there.
Camden Morgan
Then look for the remaining AA devs left, they can release big games sometimes Im still more interested in a quick indie romp through a mediocre platformer than an awful AAA games with microtransactions out the ass
Adam Roberts
There's nothing actually wrong with it, I'll go through the criticisms logically in every way
>you don't own your games! I think it's safe to say you'll own them in a playable state much longer than with the normal consoles where remasters are such a huge thing.
>You need the internet! Fortnite, apex, pubg, cod, GTA, FIFA. The 6 biggest games are all multiplayer
>You can't play your games without paying! Already the case with the PS4 and Xbox. Gotta buy multilayer pass on either to play anything popular (with the exception of a few f2p on PS4)
>it's expensive It's the same price as buying 1 month ps plus cards, and ofc you have to actually buy the console to play games with the PS4.
It’s everything casuals love about gaming, it’s gonna print money no one cares about the “gamers” anymore since they are viewed as worse then the worst hate groups now
Brody Hill
Stadia is DOA like every other Google tech project and anyone who believes otherwise is either uneducated retard or a shill.
>I already know it’s gonna be mega successful What the fuck makes you think that, do you realize how many things Google fails at? It's going to have a year or two of support, maybe three, then every Stadia will be a fucking paperweight when Google ends the service.
Justin Perry
Casual players drop games way faster, if they notice their SP game starts lagging, they will not hesitate to completely stop playing.
Ian Powell
>WAHHHHH U DONT OWN THE GAME >*has a steam account and doesnt see the irony*
Stadia will fail because artifacts, compression, and delayed input are still a thing. Google has the money, but with the current technology streaming games will always feel off and inferior.
Colton Butler
Blame piracy.
Jason Barnes
Games on Steam last way longer than anything else at the moment.
Juan Martinez
1. Not true and if they cancel the game there is no way to get it back 2. I don’t play multiplayer 3. True 4. Having to pay a fee or losing access to my single player content is beyond ridiculous
5. I forget which buzzword you are supposed to mindlessly repeat to this mindless insult. Dilate I think?
Leo Jenkins
If you spout wrongthink while playing Stadia will Google be able to outright ban you from using it?
??? Dead in arrival. If it was a fee to play all games in its catalog like EA access it would be an instant success and would put steam and epic out of business. This is also how many people thought this would go down. A gaming flatrate to end all gaming Flatrates. But this?! Ahhahahhaha oh nononono the absolute STATE
Adam Kelly
baka beats everything
Kevin Turner
1) yeah the same thing gets said about games on Steam, at the end of the day the only thing which matters is if you will end up rebuying. This happens way, way less on the pc online stores than with the consoles. Games on stadia will likely last even longer cause they won't eventually get too old and difficult to run on modern operating systems
2) the vast majority of people do so this doesn't really matter
4) single player is such a small thing now there is basically no difference between having to pay to play any of your games and having to pay to play multiplayer. It's not just about you lol.
Jordan Wilson
This, no one likes having unresponsive shit, people upgrade their phones for this reason most of the time, when they realize there's nothing they can do to fix it they'll move on.
Jordan Collins
IDK how many times you have to hear this, but Stadia isn't a threat to PC/console markets, it's a threat to mobile markets. Why play Grindware Premium when you could play an actual fucking videogame on your phone? It's going to be successful, because it's going to be taking a bite out of Candy Crush and Jerkoff Hentai Game #341, not deleting your steam account. If anything, it's taking mobile gaming money, and turning it into actual videogames.
Connor Martinez
How is this different from Xbox gold or PS4 online pass?
Jeremiah Martin
>it would be an instant success and would put steam and epic out of business It wouldn't for exactly these reasons
Christian Hughes
Video games are already dead.
Tyler Watson
I guess it’s a neat step up from bad looking loot box shovel ware to AAA looking loot box shovel ware
Camden Powell
NoNo. Its a step backward. People fought like fuck to tear the mainframe out of IBMs icy grip, now hipster retards want to give it all back. If you support stadia or any of that shit you are an enemy of mankind. TPTB would like nothing more than to take away the processors from the plebs. Dont fall for Googlish tricks.
Benjamin Clark
They've stood up to really bad practices in the past, but the main problem is, they probably just don't care enough. "What ever, long as I can play and spend as little as possible without feeling like a pirate." probably being the thought process for some of them.
Jordan Robinson
>you have to pay for the console, THEN pay for the substriction AND THEN pay for the game >to have in every way an inferior experience
You are an idiot if you didn’t run when the first online drm check wasn’t met with anything but laughter
Austin Wright
>Piracy dies off >Practices get EVEN worse, because now you have no choice but pay or leave >Try to complain >Kek, we "need" all this money bros trust me, it's for the servers, just keep paying >games you love shut down, can never play them again, no matter what >some cry, but most don't so pulg ears and pretend like they're not there, not like they can prevent it Good thing you can still buy games outside of "gameflix"
It will fail just like the other streaming game services. Google can put a trillion bucks in on their end and it won't mean shit. The infrastructure isn't there for like 95% of users. It's like pumping out 8k content to an original Gameboy. Totally useless.
Kevin Stewart
>Ey, buy a platform that can run 4k-8k videos, pay for a really good internet connection, for the subscription to our game streaming site and then buy the games you want to play, it's better than just jumping over step 3, because you can save up 1000$ ... well not really you'll more or less be giving us that and maybe more in subscribtion fees, but don't worry about that, just subscribe! So this is the power of advanced capitalism.
At least Steam games can be downloaded, backed up locally and cracked. You don't get anything to work with for stream-games
Chase Kelly
Some games don't even need a crack, kenshi can be played without opening steam even. witcher games don't either if I recall right, some devs don't add all that stuff to their game, maybe out of kindness. Pretty based.
Why are all the consoles girls with bulges? Why steam instead of PC?
Nicholas Morales
>Is stadia just the natural end of video games no, only if because of one thing that can't work on stadia - competetive gaming/esports
Dominic Mitchell
You don't have to pay for your own internet again with Stadia, the fee is for some shitty "free" games and slightly better discounts.
Aaron Long
Ps plus and stadia fees are both required to play games, but with the stadia the fee is all you have to pay but with the PS4 you've actually got to buy the console as well
Ayden Smith
the 1080p base version just requires you to buy a game, the subscription is for 4k
Jose Mitchell
You never owned the game, you never owned the data, you never owned the connection. You owned the physical materials it was all made of and you were given a license to use it. You
Brayden Sanders
Depends on your definition of ownership, because we sure as fuck HAD the game, we HAD the data. Valid license or not, we can still play those games without paying a fee or even if the people we got it from stopped supporting it entirely or even stopped existing.
Brody Davis
This is complete FUD by the way, spread by corporations who don't want you to know the rights you have. Perpetual license is functionally the same as a purchase of a physical product.
Jonathan Davis
Video games are dead already. Even if Stadia becomes popular it won't affect anything important.
>I think it's safe to say you'll own them in a playable state much longer than with the normal consoles where remasters are such a huge thing. ????? what the actual fuck do you mean by this? I can take my halo 3 disc from 2008 and still play it today, but I can't download a game I paid for because it's been removed from a storefront.
>Fortnite, apex, pubg, cod, GTA, FIFA. The 6 biggest games are all multiplayer yep. and I can play them at 30 ping with my normal 40$ internet. for stadia not only do you need crazy fast internet that 80% of US doesn't have to be able to play in anything that isn't in shitty quality, but you also need it to be able to have minimal lag, which will still be incredibly noticable.
>Already the case with the PS4 and Xbox. Gotta buy multilayer pass on either to play anything popular ?? i don't pay for ps+ and yet... my games still work! that's right, I can just plop a game disc into the tray and *gasp* play the game I paid for without being forced to pay an additional fee!!!!
>It's the same price as buying 1 month ps plus cards, and ofc you have to actually buy the console to play games with the PS4. it's like 12$ a month for 12 months + the special controller you basically need if you want minimal input lag that costs 80$ + a Chromecast ultra that costs 60$ if you want to be able to play on a TV of any resolution. so let's round it down to 280 for a year, not counting any game purchases. now I can go to my local GameStop and buy a PS4 slim for 200$ right now and, here's the best part, it won't lock me out of my games for not paying a good goy fee!
