Say, Street Fighter 2, any other fighting game event has a station or two or maybe even a side event featuring some variety of SF2 (usually super turbo, but sometimes the ultra vanilla world warrior release). Frankly it's as much fun today to wack people's faces in in a halfway sensibly designed fighting game than it was 25 years ago. And it's not "ironic" fun, it starts all jokey like "haha I barely know any combos :^)" and then everybody plays like their life is on the line

I burned out from vidya, just didn't find any appeal in it. Took a break for a few months and decided to come back and play the original DOOM for the first time. Had an amazing time and the game rekindled my passion for vidya.

The worst problems with PS1/PS2 games aren't graphical, but technical, and they're issues that can easily be adapted to with enough playtime (such as Megaman Legends's Control system). Lowpoly visuals can look pretty nice in games that took advantage of what they good, and starting with PS2-onwards any game that had a clear artistic vision with their designs generally pulled it off well.

I'm not going to play this trash, but millenial nugamers pay top dollar for boxed SNES games.

A remake uses an original idea as a base and then does its own thing. Resident Ecil 2 2019 and Goldeneye on Wii are good examples. But just because you have played these doesnt mean you have played the game in question. Pet Semetary 2019 isnt Pet Semetary 1989, entirely different movies by entirely different directors. Also, every game made after 2008 is going to be "HD" or higher, so why the qualifier?

There is not a single fucking HD remake so far that has looked better than the original, and I say this as a 1999fag who started with the PS2. Maybe this is just because I'm a total artfag, but every major HD remake I've seen has done little else but completely fuck up the art direction of the original games and make them a muddy, ugly mess of yellow and brown hues and mobage-tier designs.
That being said, remasters that do little else but upscale some textures and increase the resolution the game renders at (like the KH remasters) are pretty good. Wish there were more of those.

As long as they are good games, yes. A lot of old console games are fucking trash shovelware, but a lot are also really well designed games that are truly great.

They're fun, short, not at all time consuming, don't require a subscription or being online all the time and with emulation you have save states which means you can stop at any time if you need to go afk.

I’ve felt the same way lately. CTR Nitro has kept me hooked mostly, sadly MK11 has lost me almost completely, which sucks because that’s unironically my favorite series. I got Saints Row 3 on game pass after not having played it in yeeeeeears, and I can’t put it down. It’s so damn stupid, but it’s so fucking fun. Having a high speed chase in horse carts being pulled by gimps, those same carts exploding for no reason after taking enough damage, doing WWE moves to random people on the street, the insurance fraud games, it’s too fucking fun. It actually makes me want to try 4 again after being bored with it when it came out.

And honestly, I’ve thought Saints Row was better than GTA since the first SR came out. Minus Vice City, I’ve always had more fun as a Saint.

Old games are probably more enjoyable now than they were originally because savestates let you cut out a ton of frustration from limited continues, game overs, and no passwords.

So I just 'beat' Ghouls 'n Ghosts for the first time on Genesis. Recently bought one of those retro bit genesis controllers (literally a godsend) and have been enjoying plenty of titles I haven't before. Some of the enemy locations are a little annoying and the final level with multiple firebrands, boss rush and then the final boss was quite insane. Super Ghouls is always going to be my favourite, but this was a nice version too.

I love GnG on Megadrive/Genesis. The JP version is even harder as the checkpoints are less lenient.
