The audio in the White Desert is fucking bone-chilling when combined with the visuals. Nothing but silence and weird, digitized scraping. Just as harsh and uncomfortable as the eye-searing white that goes on for miles and miles. As ugly as it is, it's an intentional choice. They were a relatively known musician on NicoNicoDouga for a while, but four of their UTAUloid (a similar thing to vocaloid) songs got really popular to the point where they got translated reuploads on youtube and a whole bunch of OtoMADs/YTPMVs and the dude went totally nuclear, deleted everything, and left a suicide note. People suspect that he came back later under the name Speder2/2gou/NiGou, but that one vanished too. Uboachan has a whole thread about the guy.

I think that's the good thing about YN. There's no narrative, there's no cutscenes, there's no dialogue, there's no exposition, there's no play order, you're left to wander around and draw your own conclusions about what you see. The fact that Monoe and Monoko are so close together probably means something. Madotsuki already has some clear murderous tendencies, given that the knife is "hidden" in such plain sight. Monoko has a puncture wound. You need to kill Dave Spector to see Monoe, and all she does is smile at you with that knowing grin.

White desert is probably where the worst of Madotsuki's trauma is. Just judging by Uboa alone.

As long you have some good exploration senses you will be okay. The dream world might be overwhelming at first, but the more you explore the more you realize it's actually really small.
