when a scout calls for a medic at full hp he wants you to buff him. he's going to leave and fight anyways and it takes half a second.

huntsman is faster, has no fall off, can one shot every class, and uses the projectile hitboxes.
it's not OP since the sniper rifle is straight up better, but it is stupid that you can do 120 damage to someone who is on the other side of the map with a projectile.

pipes have obscene range against groups of people. You can hit someone next to the preferred target and do 100 damage to both of them. I would honestly say on average they have better range than a huntsman, being a lot easier to aim mid range.

A. the opponent stands still
B. is unaware of you (which means they're walking in one direction)
C. running through a bottle neck, where they are unaware they will be unable to dodge your arrow

I've seen 70 minimum typically. 50 is at the far edge of the splash, like bare minimum. You have to remember that you always deal 100 damage because it lacks fall off, so it does way more splash than rockets.

Medic's health regen is slow as fuck.
He can also heal others far faster than he regenerates, so ideally you let the medic take the health pack and then he heals you to full and you have two players at full HP rather than one.

when it comes to melee and combat in general, the faster you are, the better off you are, so in most scenarios, the escape plan is better, since you can avoid damage more easily, and match the damage of the equalizer thanks to random crits.

The problem is even if you nerfed the escape plan, the equalizer would still be shit for it's supposed intended role because
a) increased melee damage honestly means fuck all when you're really relying on instant-kill crits to win you melee fights in the first place and
b) as you've pointed out speed is very important in melee, so the second slowest class in the game isn't going to be waddling into any melee fights, especially when his HP is low enough to get any meaningful amount of increased melee damage from the equalizer. This is why literally every soldier uses either the escape plan, the disciplinary action, or the market gardener.
Nerfing the escape plan isn't going to make the equalizer any more appealing because the equalizer is shit.

What was the purpose of the Huo-Long Heater? The ring of fire it creates isn't really useful for holding down a cart or a point since the Heavy would probably be killed long before anyone got that close, and it doesn't really do much against spies (except igniting them for your teammates to then kill, I guess) because... again, they can backstab you long before the fire kills them. It goes through ammo way too quickly too. I just don't get it.

At least the Brass Beast is good for MvM.

Except that in order for afterburn to deal more damage than it would have before, you would need to deal enough damage to the enemy with the fire particles that they'd die before they even reached it's old duration. This is irrelevant anyway because afterburn is still put out by literally everything, so nobody ever dies to afterburn unless they're at 10 hp.

In battlefield you can just run around like a moron and revive teammates while dodging bullets like some sort of prussian ninja. In TF2 you can actively take potshots with the arrows and kill snipers in 2 hits, while also building up a powerful ability.
every other game makes the gameplay loop focus on healing only, resulting in a boring and repetitive experience

How would you fix Pyro? It's consistently been the most broken class that just doesn't fit in since release. Valve has tried and tried to balance Pyro but it never works, no matter how many different primaries/secondaries/melees it receives to change its playstyle or how many times they adjust the flamethrower.

The crossbow is the best thing that's ever happened to medic not because of how strong it is, but because it lets medic have a taste of actual gameplay between standing next to a teammate doing nothing while his medigun works automatically.

I fucking hate the Scorch Shot so fucking much. I hate the Phlog too but at the very least they can't airblast and have to get up close to do any damage, plus it's easy to kill them the second they pop their Mmmph.

But the Scorch Shot is such a bitch to deal with. It's so easy to double-whammy someone by hitting them with a SS flare then letting a Solider get a free kill while you're stunlocked. And the splash damage just takes the need to aim. You can just stand at the far end of the map and shoot flares, racking up kills and assists without even trying.

While it is shit that the weapon doesn't do full damage until the second shot, it does still deal a fair amount of damage overall.
Like I said, that's the least of the DFury's problems when it also has an airblast that completely disables the weapon for several seconds, a bugged projectile that gets rendered inert if another projectiles passes through it, and firing mechanics that actively punish you for missing while simultaneously encouraging you to lay on the trigger.

Quake made extensive use of verticality and gave us the 'look down, shoot, jump, fly' rocket jump as we know it. Soldier has arguably changed the least since the original form as well- he lost the shitty nail grenade (and frags, of course) and got more health in exchange for the removal of armor (armor being a carryover from Quake itself along with the four ammo types everyone carried in QWTF and TFC, even if they didn't use them- Valve was lazy), but still amounts to "shoot rockets (four at a time), shoot shotguns, jump around with air control, blow shit up." Nothing as extensive as Engineer's building tweaks or Scout losing undisguise-on-touch and team-ping or Spy losing feign death and so on.

They're worth literally nothing, 3 cents is just the absolute minimum that can be charged and no one is buying.

It takes a minimum of 1 brain cell to use since you don’t have to aim, and it has a fucking annoying “stun” that lets them push you around with a single click. If you look at the other classes, they take immense effort to achieve the same. Why learn to juggle enemies with rockets when you can right click? Why go for DoT build for scout when you can left click?

Pyro is mediocre in the end. The ceiling is lower, but easier to achieve, and since few people want to spend the time mastering a class Pyros will always be popular.

if soldier runs shotgun he is either going to be grounded/slow most of the game or need a medic up his ass half the match
if he doesn't he's easy pickings for scouts, has limited staying power, and can't easily finish off retreating enemies

overall soldier is the most mobile class but has to pick and choose his fights carefully because if he overcommits, bombs at the wrong time, or runs out of rockets mid fight he's dead.

because you have 2 classes that do nothing for 90% of the round (spy, pyro) and 2 classes that are literal gods (sniper, demo), incredibly long queue times where one match can take HOURS to start because there are a hundred snipers mains for every one medic main, and a boring as fuck meta because defense classes heavily punish aggression while requiring very little skill to do so. 9 players means personal skill matters much less. having lots of slow classes in play means you can't rapidly take ground with soldier/scout/demo without overextending. Big plays are extremely rare because the enemy team has to seriously fuck up for you to get 5 or 6 kills in a row. I seriously doubt you have ever played hl or 6s much less in an actual competitive match if these flaws were not immediately obvious to you.

And that's not even getting into the actual logistical issues of 9v9. How do you deal with players leaving mid game? The match will probably end long before you find a medic replacement. How do you measure the skill levels of each class? How do you find a heavy of equal skill level to a demo or sniper? What kind of ELO system would you need for this? How do you have LANs? Sponsors now have to pay for 9 plane tickets? LAN centers now have to accommodate for much larger teams which means more floorspace, PCs, chairs, tables, etc. Increased costs across the board. Spectating is now hell because keeping track of 18 players all doing their own thing all over the map is extremely difficult. Comms are a mess and it's very difficult to coordinate anything without deafening your team. Also lets stop with this nonsense that TF2 was built for every class to be in play at the same time. It wasn't. Robin Walker and several other key devs have stated numerous times in dev talks and commentary that the generalist classes are supposed to be the core of the team and be played the most, ie soldier and demo. The other classes are specialists and should be used when the situation calls for it. Furthermore the game was originally built for 8v8 and class limits have never been a part of any official ruleset ever. HL is a joke format where 6s players sandbag for shits and giggles while the lower ranks are for shitters who don't play 6s because they only know how to play one offclass and won't touch anything else.

Yes, yes it would. Comp subset of the community was just fine balancing itself on the side without affecting the main game. Squeezing comp into the actual game was a mistake and a kneejerk reaction to Overwatch.

comp was fine how it was but people on the outside looking in always gave their shitty opinions. Most of the weapons that got nerfed didn't even have shit to do with comp. The caber for example got nerfed because sniper mains kept whining

so what, 12v12? how are you going to know what weapons are broken without competitive 12v12 matches with skilled players testing them which if you read my post at all should easily see why 12v12 comp matches are a really stupid idea. if you aren't going to have competitive matches how are you going to know what needs fixing. just trust the devs to make the right decisions? because that's how we got cancer like the DDS and the old short circuit. pubs only work because the devs have nerfed most of the really retarded weapons into oblivion where they are so bad you're crippling yourself by using them and pub players are dumb as shit and they might as well be 3v3 matches with the top 3 players on each team being gods and the rest of the server being easy mode bots for them to farm their stranges on when they're not fighting each other. balancing around 6s is the best overall choice and if you want to see the other classes played more it's on valve to try to fix the problems accompanying them
