You're STILL bad at all the actual good ones. You always will be. Not that you can help the mental deficiency.
It's not even better than SA1, and that's a low bar.
SA1 had better stages
Because you grew up with it and are unable to accept that other games did things better than it and that 2/3 of the game is shit
Most of the Knuckles/Rouge levels are good and the Tails/Eggman levels are mediocre at worst.
Sonic Unleashed exists you fucking retard
Childhood is loving Sonic Adventure 2
Adulthood is realizing Sonic Adventure 1 was better all along.
And true maturity is realizing that only Classic Sonic is good.
Rouge the bat
Because they never made 3
>inb4 muh sonic 06 = 3 theory
No
Because this was your first Sonic game you played. Or actually, SA2B was.
Any 90s era Sonic fag would always say 3K is best. And most of them, myself included, didn't play it first so no first time bias from me zoomer.
We talking sonic overall? If so, thats probably for S3K or Sonic 2. If 3D only, Heroes still reigns the supreme chad king.
>sonic levels
>chaos levels
>chao garden
keep these, throw the rest of the levels in garbage and nothing of value would be lost
If by BEST you mean WORST, then yeah
>>chaos levels
???
And true enlightenment is realizing that Sonic was never good.
I never understood the hate for the treasure stages, this is hands down one of my favorite levels in any video game
shit, i meant shadow
Wait, Sonic game? Pretty sure you posted Chao Garden 2 though.
To zoomers, yes.
People just got butt blasted by the gimped radar, which does fucking nothing. The levels are just too big past Pumpkin Hill.
I mean each stage only takes 3-4 minutes, save the last two on your first try. But honestly I enjoyed exploring the planets and ark, it's not like other levels where there's no way to shorten the length
True Planar Ascension is understanding that just because a different generation of people generally don't enjoy playing the same games as you because they are outdated does not make the outdated games good.
Define outdated and explain how your use of the word is appropriate.
its flat out better than SA1 and I'll never understand the people that think otherwise. when it came out all I could do was grind out those A ranks and emblems like an addict i was helpless to resist
>no pointless hub world leftover from when it was an rpg because they at least half knew what they were doing from the start of development
>better graphics
>better music
>better action stages
>better non-sonic stages
>better story
>better bosses
>better final boss
>better settings
>better atmosphere
>more modes and things to do/mission variety
>better chao garden this isn't even a contest as SA1's chao garden sucks
Literally the only thing anyone can say that SA1 does better is that the controls are slightly better. That said, it just takes some adjustment. If you're skilled, you'll be getting A ranks in no time. All for that sweet sweet shitty 3D remake of Green Hill and your own personal satisfaction.
>I mean each stage only takes 3-4 minutes
Afterwards. As in, hinesight. There's too many videos of people taking ~5-10 mins in one because of bad RNG, and that's happened to me at least twice playing the game again years later on Steam. Rouge's levels are dogshit. Knuckles' are far tamer but even the Space level he has is far too tall and wide. Mad Space is just cancer, no one should tolerate that shit when Mario Galaxy shat all over that trash.
I'm not against open world Sonic, but that isn't the best example. It's better to be lower over taller and thinner instead of wider, especially if its already too damn tall.
Nigger the fuck did you just typed out? I legit don't fucking get the shit you said, was it English?
If I get half of what this shit was, are you claiming SMB1 is unplayable today? When that Battle Royale meme just shits all over your post since shittons of people played that shit and enjoyed it?
>>no pointless hub world
Stopped reading there.
because you can play as Sonic AND Shadow
You can always tell a gamecube kid because they actually appreciate SA2 and Heroes
>Sonic and emo Sonic
Gay. Sonic 3 is better.
I love the game but sonic 3 and knuckles is goat followed by mania
Unlike knuckles
I never chuckle
It's pretty good but not the best
It’s the best 3D game by far, but Sonic 3 & Knuckles is the best overall.
>1. Sonic 3 & Knuckles
>2. Sonic Mania
>3. Sonic Adventure 2
>4. Sonic 2
>5. Sonic Generations
SA1 is better
I think it has the best sonic controls of any 3D game.
>Generations over Sa1
Garbage taste.
Sonic Mania but with new levels and in 3D would be the best game period
Prove me wrong
You can't.
It was a hard pick user. Ultimately Generations is a lot more polished and has more highs than lows.
how is that new sonic racing game? is it any good?
Adventure 1 is trash. Even with nostalgia goggles it barely holds up.
Classic sonic is half the game and is a pretty big low for the most part, not the mention planet wisp is a terrible level for both modern and classic and it has the worst final boss in the franchise,
Again trash taste the only thing that doesn't hold up is the camera and maybe big but his story takes 15 minutes so its a non issue.
Classic Sonic wasn’t great but it’s okay and can be fun. Also Big isn’t a non issue, that shit was nearly unplayable.
How was it unplayable? I agree it wasn't much fun but you can catch froggy in less than a minute in every level and its insanely consistent as long as you actually know how to control the game.
You forgot about the shittiest cutscenes, the shit tier controls, the worse chao garden, the short ass levels, and the garbage facial animations.
>zoom
>boom
Can you guys have an discussion without these words
I'M GONNA BE DESPERAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE
>he didn't unlock the chaos levels
It's decent. It's just not ASRT so rosterfags are assblasted by it and didn't play it.
>shittiest cutscenes
While badly animated what they are trying to convey is great and the most in character Sonic has ever been.
>the shit tier controls
The controls are unironically the thing that held up the most in the game Sonic has never controlled as well in 3D to this day.
>the worse chao garden
True but its a side game that you aren't forced to play.
>the short ass levels
Sonic has always had short levels have you ever played the Classics?
>garbage facial animations
Already talked about this.
When you’re playing it as a kid you probably aren’t gonna know how to play it. Even replaying it when I was older I had to search up some tutorial on YouTube to beat it. Maybe there’s a few people who figured it out easily but my experience is pretty common from what I’ve seen.
>What is a franchise spanning nearly 30 years of fans?
If you ever went fishing as a kid it was pretty self explanatory pull the rod when they bite to get him hook'd on.
The SA1 hub is completely fucking pointless and only adds annoying downtime between fun segments.
>sonic free riders forever condemned to kinect
I'll never not be mad, wanted another riders so badly and they lock it to ms and their trend chasing camera.
I don’t remember it working like that in game. Either way it sucked.
>Why is this STILL the best 3D Sonic game ever made?!
fixed
It does and works everytime just because you couldn't figure it out doesn't mean its broken. You are no better than those reviewers that shit on hard or weird games because they can't git gud.
Opinions?
you've had your opinions for months, now buzz off
Not them but...
>While badly animated what they are trying to convey is great and the most in character Sonic has ever been.
As a 90s fag, no. Not at all. That's either Sonic CD, Sonic Unleashed or Sonic and the Black Knight. Unless you mean all Sonic characters, then I still think other games does them better. Amy is a hard pass, mainly because of what happens afterward, but Unleashed she was cute and in the Boom/IDW series she's not a pointless thot.
>The controls are unironically the thing that held up the most in the game Sonic has never controlled as well in 3D to this day.
Play fangames drone
>True but its a side game that you aren't forced to play.
That is moving goalposts, user
>Sonic has always had short levels have you ever played the Classics?
I have, and 3D games aren't 2D games. The amount of times I realize mucking around in 3D fan games to realize I spent more time in them than in a Classic Sonic game without even realizing I would have died by that point, without it feeling long and drawn out, proves short levels is a fucking meme and outdated trash. 2D games work better for this like in Mania, 3D games need to feel like a real living environment, not some outdated 90 arcade Temple Run.
Dude. NOBODY could figure it out.
But it's comfy and the music is good.
Not so fast.
I honestly like the Knuckles stages, but people hate them. The mecha stages are dull as shit though. They deserve the hate considering it's just you moving through a stage while you hold and let go of the shoot button. It's honestly the least interesting game mechanic I've ever seen.
This so fucking bad...
It's in the manual, in game tutorial, and tikal hints
I miss it so much bros...
It and Fzero GX were my favorite racing games from that era/console
Why do these discussions always have to derail into furfaggot shit? I just like Sonic because he was my favorite game character when I was a child. I don't want to jack off to him. What the fuck is wrong with this fanbase?
>advance above ad2
>the special stages were awful to get to AND to do
>introduction of top speed was better than in advance
I'll concede Black Knight probably has better characterization
>Play fangames drone
I have and they all have controls fit for giant open world meme levels that have no actual content.
>That is moving goalposts, user
Well not really I never said Sa1 was the best Sonic game ever I was just saying it was good and still is good.
>3D games need to feel like a real living environment, not some outdated 90 arcade Temple Run.
Again if you enjoy open world meme levels thats on you but I personally don't.
It's a troll. He's been at it for months.
>SEGA made kino Riders
>SEGA made kino F-Zero GX
>Both better than Mario Kart
>Both died thanks to gimmicks
Fuck this gay Earth...
That's how I feel about Link, so I know that feel bro
Is it really that good?
I like how Sonic 1 is usually never rated as good as 2 and 3. The level design in 1 is the most clever used in any Sonic game, if people bothered to use the fucking rolling, jumps and momentum right, but seems people only remember "Green Hill" and "Labyrinth sucks"
Also, the enviroments of 1 are the best and how they managed to balance levels from colorful ones to darker one and how they handled the backgrounds and lightning.

He's not a troll. He's a /trash/ munchkin that leaks out from his shithole and shitposts on here and on /vg/. He's just a parasite, nothing more, nothing less.
Please tell me this wasn’t a flavor of the week thing and it’s dead now. I need to find time to play this.
People just like speed in Sonic bro. But non casuals at least want more than just hold right to win, so those people prefer 3K over 2. Most 2fags are just modern boostfags I noticed, or at least Advancefags.
Brainlets just couldn't get into them and item heavy kart racers are easier to market
Swap Shadow the Hedgehog with Team Sonic Racing and you have a good tier list of Sonic games.
That's probably the only reason why I go back to 1. They had to really incorporate Sonic's rolling into the level design moreso than any other game since spin dash didn't exist yet
Wish we'd get a 3d game that does this along with using the Z-axis more
Absolutely. You won't regret it.
Its community is still going strong, and I still play it once per week. Simply download the game, go to the multiplayer, pick a server that has the most quantity of players, and enjoy. Make sure to practice a lot through Time Attack first.
Sonic 3's more gimmicky stages have a lot of flaws, the & Knuckles portion and Mania's modern take on the design ideas present in 3 are much better.
I can't argue with that, I guess I was disappointed with how TSR turned out
Thank you for archiving my legacy.
>Mania's modern take on the design ideas present in 3 are much better.
Nice b8
how?
Cool argument friend.
Heroes says hi. Steam fucking when?
Mostly because it relies on no skill and just random RNG. That's why Japan likes party games because "random makes it fun". Fucking hell.
Makes me wonder if Crashfag's racing remake will stay relevant because of this. It would suck of the same shit happened to them because of muh random gameplay.
Mania's level design is overly long and repetitive when compared to 3&K. They took too much from CD's garbage level design too.
>Mania is too long
I hear this every now and then and I still don't see it whenever I play, sorry.
Ignore him, he's shitposting.
Personally I kinda agree with the 3 portion part. I was just taking about the level design overall being less linear like in 2 but not as vertical like in CD.
Where did all these people suddenly liking Shadow's game come from?
He's just a bitter S2fag.
Explain the point of playing video games, you ADHD internet-addict.
Zoomers that played Shadow are likely 18 by now. If you were 5 when playing that game you're posting here on Yea Forums now.
Mania's stages have a lot of meat to them but they're certainly not repetitive, and can be beaten very quickly once you learn the levels much like any other classic Sonic game.
Alot of the level on first playthrough can go up to 8 or 9 minutes and its not like they have interesting gimmicks to keep it fresh either you see everything a level has to offer within the first couple minutes of playing.
kek I probably wouldnt even put 2 in my top 5 Sonic games while 3&K sits at number 1.
...
As much MKW I've played, I think it has the worse item roster. I usually turn it off
Classic Sonic is the Genwun of Sonic. Just because it's the first doesn't mean it's the best.
>8 or 9 minutes
uh...
come on, not even on my first playthrough was it that bad
What is the greater purpose of having to move around a mostly uninteresting hub world to get to the next enjoyable part of the game that you're actually playing it for? To say nothing of areas like the bigass forest that are even more pointless to navigate through.
The Egg Carrier adventure maps are fucking cool though, I admittedly won't knock those.
Literally how can you have spend that long in any level when 3/4 of them are revisited levels with familiar level design? You're either rusty trash and used your first experience to call it shit or you're just being a retard overall at video games.
CDchad here. Mania's levels are nothing like it. They certainly are more 3K like. Maybe a bit longer yes, but the game is nothing like CD I can tell you that much.
>you see everything a level has to offer within the first couple minutes of playing.
3K does this for every level not named Lava Reef.
>Just because it's the first doesn't mean it's the best.
That's why Sonic 3K is the best Sonic and not the first game, right? Same is like this for nearly ever game, from DKC2 to Ms Pacman to SMW2, etc.
I do like speed like in Star Light Zone, but also like platformng like Marble or Scrap Brain Zone(like top route)
I put all classic in the same tier, but my favorite is still 3&K, despite liking a lot how Sonic 1 looks and the things it does. 1 was that game that made me love and abuse rolling
ST killed rolling and spindash since Heroes. That is one of the things that annoyed me the most in 3d Sonic, removing abilities that made Sonic unique.
Which is why I like to go back do the Adventure games, because at least it tried to keep the things that made Sonic. Even if not as good as classics, it was there, you could use them, but needed more polish and work.
>Enjoys sonic
>Is autistic
And what a fucking shock that was.
So as someone who got the game in 5th grade when it released and was active on various discussion boards and youtube, the biggest hate shadow got from fans was the over done edgy-ness and 4kids voices, while the normal players were upset at how the game only had "5" levels, no lock on, bad camera, annoying mission structure, the non gamecube ports had known bugs, all this with the fact that this was one of the few $50 games at the time.
The game wasn't ever terrible, it's always been mediocre and seen as the black sheep, now that you can pick up a copy for the gamecube on the cheap most people just see it for what it is, a run of the mill TPS following the PS2 trend at the time.
>My legacy of posting the exact same thread every day for at least the last year
Weird flex, but OK.
I always liked finding curved surfaces and spindashing off them in adventure games. Too bad they removed them, what were they thinking with heroes honestly? Looking bad, it just feels heavily congested with ideas that should've been left on the cutting room floor
Of course you can cut down times after a couple playthroughs. I replay the original trilogy once a year and am pretty good at classic Sonic, Mania was the only game where I even came close to timing out especially the last couple levels.
But the length wouldn't even be a problem for me if the levels were actually interesting once I did a level gimmick once or twice I was over it but they make you repeat it over and over again. But let me just say I still love Mania and it is easily my favorite game to come out in years, it just goes to show just got good 3&K was desu.
It's were the bulks of the Sonic Autism began, the other majority is thanks to Archieshit. Sonic would have been completely different in the public eye if SA2B, SatAM, Penders and Chris Chan never happened.
Oh and Sonic X as well.
Not that user, but I did waste that time in some levels. I was enjoying too much exploring things and trying to find big rings
I do remember FB Act2 being a bit confusing at first if you pick some routes that go around way much, that shit could take 8 minutes and then that boss was.. something different from the Sonic franchise, even the classics. I wasnt expecting something like that, like most bosses in Mania, but that was cool with the pinball physics idea back.
how good*
Heroes had a some weird spindash using the team mechanic with speed formation, what the hell was that, really.
I also tried things in Adventure with spindash or just rolling(by holding the button while running). It was fun the moon physics while jumping. Sonic could skip a lot of segments in Ice Cap for example
Because the only games that even tried to replicate its success were Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 06, and they failed.
Always ignoring the classic that is Sonic: In Search of Love
pastebin.com
Heroes botched the fuck out of the SA2 physics engine. They mess with the speed values to make Sonic faster, but didn't do it in the right way, they just increased his acceleration speed but his traction and controls wasn't tweaked to work with that right so it felt like slippery garbage. The HA was made slower homing in on targets compared to SA2, and because of that you orbit around enemies a lot like you do when you use the Light Speed Attack in SA2 without holding down on the control stick. The HA was really broken in SA2/Heroes, but it was made worse in Heroes, among other things like the shit tier rail switching.

This is why Classic Sonic needs to return. I don’t hate Modern Sonic or boost but normies are put off by him. You never hear anyone calling Classic Sonic cringy because people are nearly always making fun of Adventure/Modern.
Same, hopefully one that cuts out the fat from 1 and streamlines and refines the good parts
>Sonic X
What even was the pacing of that show?
If it wasn't Chris being obnoxious, it was just Sonic runs around and does things while that same leitmotif plays in the background
>Being so fucking young and brainwashed by shit games to believe that ANY FUCKING 3D PLATFORMER IS FUCKING GOOD
Jesus fucking shit, children.
What they should do is redesign Sonic to more like Classic with a modern vide on him. The green eyes could just be tinted like in the Mania box art which are brown tinted, make him have the soles on the bottom of the shoes and make him talk a lot less often and there you go. Then it's all a matter of trimming the fat between gameplay vs story, keeping a fair balance of both, with actually competent momentum physics instead of boosting. Make Boost gameplay just Super Sonic, it's the same damn thing really.

I would kill for a legitimate anime or even a faithful manga adaption of Sonic Adventure 2. I don't mind if they have to expand or take liberties to the story, but not to the extent that Sonic X did where entire plotlines were changed to shove this obnoxious character into a major role.
And I don't want an IDW adaption. Ian Flynn fucking sucks at pacing.

Unleashed was garbage why is it so high?
The pretty graphix and it's not 06 tier.
It was the best out of the 3D boost games which really isn't saying much but hey its something.
I would never understand why people preffer Transformer over the first one. The air and water section sucks and the roster and all starts moves are worse. Only thing that is better are the stages
Rosterfags are cancer. When your only reason to play something is to play with dead IPs, that's sad. At least with Smash most are requested, ASRT wasn't requested, they were shilled.
liberty city
SA1 is the best 3D Sonic game.
>Treasure hunting improved
>Tails can fly
>Chaos>>>>>>>>Biolizard
>Comfy hub worlds
>Big's story is 20 minutes long.
>E102>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SA2 mechs
SA2 should've expanded on above, Tails didn't need the walker. Eggman can freakin fly and shoot BULLETS and the same time.
And fuck grinding, it wasn't good until Final Rush and it made everything linear garbage. Sonic Mania was good without rails, SA didn't need it either.
I said it before. I'll say it again.
If SA1 had SA2's engine and cutscene treatment, it would've been the superior perfect sonic game.
I love the aesthetic of the game. It's very unique and no other Sonic game has captured it since. It just has a vibe going on with it that's difficult to explain. It probably wasn't even intentional.
And I don't want to because I agree. I want Christian Whitehead to make a 3D Sonic game with Saturn tier polygon graphics. Just like the emerald stages in Mania, but with full 3D gameplay. I imagine it being similar to the fangame Sonic Utopia (most 3D fangames play very similarly, but that's the best one imo).
nice bait list heres ur (you)
But you're right
???
Fucking trash taste dude. Sonic Riders 1 was better than Mario Kart Double Dash on the same system. Zero Gravity was so trash, everyone played Mario Kart Wii at parties instead.
I'll humor you dumbfrogposter
>Treasure hunting improved
Treasure hunting stages are just portions of sonics levels, bad controls. All it has is the radar.
>Tails can fly
Which completely breaks his level design causing every race stage to just be automated by the rings
>Chaos>>>>>>>>Biolizard
Biolizard at least has the theme song playing for the full fight
>Comfy hub worlds
Just Mystic Ruins
>Big's story is 20 minutes long.
Still a waste of resources
>E102>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SA2 mechs
He only has 1 actual stage.
Grinding wasn't a major component in any non space stage except sky rail, you have no idea what you're talking about if you think there was a lot of grinding in the game.
SA1 had more replayable stages once you learned the gimmick each level had, for sure. Honestly Sonic controls so much better in the first one as well, only thing 2 improved upon was that bounce he could do.
Neither of them are particularly good games even though they're the high water mark of the series.
Name one thing that's wrong with it. Hint: you can't.
Nah. Sonic controls are much better in SA2.
The thing is that HD version doesnt feel as tight and smooth as DC and GC's versions, and I am saying this because I played a couple of weeks ago the GC version again. then I tried the HD version again and it didnt played as good, I couldnt control Sonic as well as I did in the GC version.
>Nah. Sonic controls are much better in SA2.
I don't know how you could prefer that gimped ass spin dash and that AWFUL roll move over the instantaneous on-the-button spindashes in SA1 that let practically let you climb vertical walls
I do prefer that, but in SA2 Sonic handles/controls better(let's say i enjoyed running in circles in stages like Final Rush to keep speed before jumping into a rail). A mix of the best parts of both games was always my wish for a 3rd game with SA1's infinite spindash, SA1 moonphysics when jumping, SA2's homing attack, handling, bouncing included because that shit was fun(and you could get extra points for the ranking if you didnt drop the bouncing while destroying enemies on the way)
The original DC SA1 has 360 analog rotation. SA2 had 8 directional angles like Sonic Lost World and Forces does, but it's far more smoothed out then in Forces which feels like it snaps to each preset angle.
So by objectivity SA1 had better controls. And I can definite see why being an SA2fag myself after seeing the SA1 stage mod ported to SA2 how you moved worse in the stage then in the original SA1 game.
>waste of resources
>E102 only 1 stage
>Chaos was fought multiple times, but he only remembers Biolizard for the finale
Stopped reading right there. Final Rush, Crazy Gadget, and Sky Rail are mostly grinding. And nobody needs grinding in a Sonic game. What a step backwards.

I don't care which new sonic game uses either controls, as long as it doesn't have a dedicated run button or a boost button, I'm fine with that. Just fun momentum platforming.
