That doesn't make any fucking sense, you're never actually paying the devs. The game's already developed and they already got their salaries while developing it, all sales just benefit the publishers.

if the company no longer exists they can't get hired to develop new games
Besides that's not even the point. The publisher of the game was responsible for rushing this before it was ready and then blaming the problems on the developers which was one of the main reasons why their company no longer exists

Wikipedia says they actually had a sequel starting to be planned while Troika was still alive. If Activision didn't kill them, maybe they would've worked on the sequel and had the potential to earn more money and make a proper sequel instead of what we're getting now with an almost entirely unrelated team
