Three member bands are rarely good. You really need a fourth member for bass/keyboard/whatever. It gives you WAY more flexibility.
no vergil
Still enjoyed it a lot but
>V is boring and breaks the pace of the campaign, I like that he's a DMC1 throwback but using him is just boring
>The one thing Itsuno refuses to re use from DMC2 is giving the characters their own small campaigns and instead prefers to have players constantly switch
>Very forgettable bosses outside Cavalier, and King Cerberus
>Vergil's final fight is underwhelming and attempts to get by entirely on DMC3 nostalgia
>Game's story is a mess and takes far too long to reveal Vergil, awful pacing
>No alternate costumes AGAIN
>DLC version of Cavalier is clearly superior to the base version
>Can't use any DLC weapons in Bloody Palace because its ranked even though no one fucking cares about Bloody Palace ranks because the requirement for an S Rank is so fucking low why even bother ranking it
>Royal Guard takes too long to get max meter again
>Way too much loading, holy shit the amount of loading in this game is fucking absurd. Especially when the game loads, then plays a cutscene, then loads, then loads the pre-mission screen, then has to load again to start
V. Fuck that guy and his missions. He is cool as a concept or background character but not as a playable character. Such a jarring pace shifter.
Your birth.
Great game that lived up to the hype. Cons are following,
>No free choice of character for all missions after you have cleared the game for the first time. V is a decent character but i rather play Dante/Nero
>Top many loading screens
>No vergil
They can absolutely work if your frontman is either on Guitar or Bass. See: Rush. Granted once V is back to being Vergil I can't imagine he'd take the same place in the band, and I imagine that Trish would be good on keyboards and Lady would be a good drummer.
Rush is problematic because during live performances and albums they have to overlap prerecorded tracks of geddy lee either playing the bass or playing the keyboard. You really need a fourth person like JPJ from zeppelin to be that super talented guy in the background that doesn't get much attention.
He could have been a playable character unlock after you finish the game, that would have been ok.
>Lady
>good drummer
Trish would make a better drummer just because she has inhuman stamina from being a demon. Put Lady on the mic and hope she's another Ann Wilson
>>No vergil
I think you mean too much Vergil. The story in DMC5 is highly retarded with possibly the most boring and anti-climatic no stakes end in the whole series and the whole thing diminishes Vergil's appeal a lot.
>Clearly burned through its budget faster than anticipated, leading to the final ~30-40% of the game being rushed in some ways
>Loading screens got tedious when going for good rankings (or even just dying when gitting gud)
>Bloody Palace almost complete at launch, held back a month as a way to keep people playing, but the Deluxe Edition Breakers & Cav R are banned in it for no good reason
>The story was so focused on the beginning of Mission 20 that it kind of fumbles things like Nero & Dante's relationship, the purpose of Trish & Lady, and just the pacing of the final act in general; it has a lot of fantastic individual moments but feels like less than the sum of its parts
>No option to run each stage with each character (or at least those which are feasible; a couple of Nero's would be hard to do for V & Dante)
>The "expectations exceeded" stuff got people to think that 5 would have the level of content a Special Edition would at launch or with early updates but that isn't coming until they actually make a 5SE which will either be a new disc or if we're lucky a $30-40 upgrade that gets a separate disc for late-comers.
I don't mind V at all, and his stages are mostly fine, but I feel like there's very little that is moderately difficult for him; his playstyle makes things either quite easy or very hard.
DMC5 is like an A game, teetering towards an A-. 5SE should definitely be an A+ if it exists.
No (official) turbo mode.
Menus are a bit sluggish and there's too many loading screens.
No Legendary Knight Sparda difficulty.
No boss rush, and Bloody Palace doesn't have V's bosses.
V gets cucked by the plot and could have used a month or two of extra polish (compared to Nero/Dante).
No word of any expansion on the horizon.
Otherwise it's an amazing game. The story isn't as good as 3's and it lacks some of the features of 4 but in terms of core gameplay and quality consistency it's easily the best.
Lady reminds me more of a Joan Jett but either works.
Should've just been a game about dante
>The "expectations exceeded" stuff got people to think that 5 would have the level of content a Special Edition would at launch
Aye we got bamboozled with this. I at least expected Vergil as an extra for bloody palace but forgot Capcom is still Capcom.
Tbh I actually enjoy V's gameplay. There aren't enough games that let you play a summoner. That said the default controller scheme for him is clunky and he feels unfinished. Vhas a clear lack of abilities, as more focus clearly went into Dante and Nero. If he was more fully fleshed out I think a lot of people would like his gameplay more.
- Too many moves thrown in to make the player feel artificially proficient as opposed to feeling like they've picked the optimum tool for the job, because there rarely is one
- Pussy enemies even on higher difficulties
- There's two types of levels, city and demon tree
- Too many lizards
- V is fun but ultimately straightforward
- Retarded plot jumps back and forth without ever really justifying it
- No fixed camera angles
- It's basically a greatest hits compilation, a victory lap of 3/4 particularly, V is the only truly novel addition
It's still really good though
1 > 4 > 5 > 3 > DmC > 2
>4 above anything
Whole post goes in the trash
4 ISNT THAT BAD YOU DUMB SHIT WHAT IS EVEN WRONG WITH IT
You can mod him into the game at least
I love 4 but it's literally two of the same campaign put end-to-end.
>needed more missions to have better pacing for the story but it's not that bad at the end
>no vergil even though the story is about him (no v doesn't count)
>v is boring to use and only fun for the first playthrough
>dante should have been introduced earlier
>no alt costumes or new difficulties
>no divergence mode
gameplay and everything else is excellent though
>4 above 5
Bait. Half the game was recycled content. Yes Dante was cool in 4 but unless you were donguri level player, it was meaningless.
>Too many moves thrown in to make the player feel artificially proficient as opposed to feeling like they've picked the optimum tool for the job, because there rarely is one
Never seen this spun as a negative before. The ability to freely choose your favorite option for a given enemy feels like the ultimate realization of Itsuno's vision of the series.
>4 above 3 & 5
I don't get it. You can prefer its level variety, you can prefer Nero's Buster animations, you can think its story is more coherent, you can think Credo as a boss helps the game, you can mention 4SE's content as giving it very high replay value, but at its core the game is unfinished and has the worst Dante of the good games in the series, an underdeveloped Nero, an oddly-designed Vergil, a pretty simplistic-if-fun Lady, mediocre bosses outside of Credo, pretty poor level design that takes staples from 1 & 3 and does them worse, and draws some of its depth from unintended bugs that the team kept in.
5 >= 1 = 3SE > 3 = 4SE > 4 > DmC:DE >>> DmC = 4R > 2
V is shit
Does he even work properly?
That doesnt make it bad though. The characters are all fun to play and the story is the perfect amount of cheesey. And the sparda hoard mode was great too.
>Dante's wet noodle moveset that lacks variation even when you get good
>Possibly the worst enemy design in the series
>Garish art direction that aged poorly
>Limp soundtrack
>Campaign might as well be in a beta stage
>Forgettable bosses outside of muh Credo
>Worst bloody palace in the series
>KYRRIIIIIEEEEEEEE
On that last note, thank God DMC5 allowed Nero to be an actual character this time. He managed to end up my favorite in spite of being introduced in the trainwreck that is DMC4
>its all opinions
Missing;
> ldk mode
> turbo mode
> Vergil
> co-op bp
> drive on reb and sparda
> being able to play one character for every stage.
> too many moves
> shitty enemies
> no fixed camera angles
> V is the only real novel addition
You're a madman.
There's never "enough" moves. Give me all the moves, forever.
Enemy quality, quantity, design, and difficulty have never been greater. And they have to be especially more difficult because of how much stronger you are now. Dante and Nero are waay stronger now, and V is op.
The camera's never been better. And I hope fixed camera angles die for the rest of time. They have no place in a modern or future game.
And Nero + Dante got showered in new weapons, moves, and power ups. Not to mention the big, positive changes to level design and ranking. The new bosses. New enemies. The gallery. The deluxe edition stuff. New music. New graphics. New lore. New new new.
They added countless novel additions, you entitled bastard.
Wow, just like your post! Wow it's almost like opinions are what we use to rate and rank games in sequential order like you did. Do you possibly have autism? At any rate I don't see how you can write off some of what I said as an opinion, stuff like the campaign being unfinished and the bloody palace being worse than 3's and 5's is pretty objective.
nothing
>wordwordswordswordswordswords
Why did you even come to this thread with your hot opinion if you didn't want it to be contested or discussed? Just fuck off dude the whole thread is words you insufferable 4 autist
To long,didnt read
Nothing but the game's budget
nothing went wrong
the panels from this weekend are up on dan's facebook if you guys want to check it out btw
good God, how old are you?
Doesn't matter that 4 is unfinished or recycles stuff. It doesn't matter that you have to face each boss three times. It doesn't matter about the dice shit.
It's still faster, more fun, more varied, more challenging, and better paced than 5 is.
Again
>wordswordswords
nope
Damn. You really BTFOed him with fafts and logic right there.
Nothing
My post was just as valid as anything "he" said. He didn't make an argument
>game I like is more fun than game you like
>no it's not
Wow that was hard
Damn, i really gotta git more frisky.
Sure kid. We all know V is better 4. It's okay kid. I understand you are still stuck in the past.
Counter point: you're a feminist
These threads should be an immediate ban
loading wasn't that bad for me. also the game was way too short.
