As long as they're not the tired MUH NATURE shit that most beast races are. Also, anything sexual can't be at the forefront. They need to be more culturally distinct than "they're people but beast-like". Argonians and Charr (fuck the Olmakhan and sparklecats though) are decent examples.

I have always liked the appeal of races who preferred to take it what's theirs and being stoic in the face on a challenges.
Charrs seem to have good philosophy

You can make an original style tough legionary charr, you'll just have to deal with the big eye bitch in xpacs and the hippie charr in LS4. Plus, sparklecats in the game world.

Yeah, there are at least a few scrappy medium armor pieces that fit the charr engineer theme. Depending on your preferred game mode you might be shoehorned into being a holosmith though, which I don't think fits charr as much as scrapper.
