I've been enjoying the Octopath Traveler demo, but how does the full game work? Do I complete one character's route, then simply pick another character's after it's done? Or do you end up meeting the other playable characters all in one route? If it's the latter, would that mean you miss out on some stuff and are encouraged to replay from the other characters' routes?

A friend gifted me Jade Empire, so I'm playing that. Also nice to take a break and play a game in English once in a while.

I'm playing the best one: FFV

My favorite jrpg series are fire emblem, growlanser, ys, atelier, SaGa, and souls. Which of the following should I play and in what order: suikoden, baiten kaitos, arc rise fantasia, stella glow, neptunia, treasure of the rudras, alliance alive

Haha...

Japan has seriously awaken to asses in the last few years.

I’m playing Dragon’s Dogma, does that count?

None have released this year that interest me and I'd rather play other games than work on my backlog.

I'll choose what one to crack at next though based on what my post ends with:
>1-2
Breath of Fire 3-4
>3
Faxanadu
>4
Xenogears
>5-6
Phantasy Star II-IV
>7
Alliance Alive
>8
Folklore
>9-0
Shin Megami Tensei If + Strange Journey Redux

Playing Oath in Felghana. Gotta beat all those games on nightmare, dude

Alliance Alive, Neptunia. Disregard the rest

Name of game?

Trails of coldsteel 4

That is Emma Millstein from The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV

Is it good

Probably due to their adoration to black American culture over there.

>Trails of Cold Steel IV
The Third one isn't even out yet in the West. I've never played 4.

haha

PS4 only REEEEEEEEEEEE

>first time playing FFV
>make Galuf my white mage/bard
>that one battle against ex death
>have to unequip healing staff to deal damage with fists
>took 300+ turns to finish the fight
Games that let you customize your party this deeply shouldn't mess with your fucking party like FFV does

Yes.

Bouncing between TTYD, Strange Journey Redux, and XBC2 right now trying to decide which I’ll play all the way through first.

I'm Playing Dragon Quest 4 as my first DQ, I just got the horse and wagon and got to a hot springs town

Bad jrpgs annoy me when I finish

Good jrpgs with good characters and strong relationships between them make me feel hollow and empty inside when I finish them and that feeling lasts for days

Falcom's biggest detractors being it's fans should tell you something about this series

Attached: 87.jpg (480x359, 93K)

>Falcom's biggest detractors being it's fans should tell you something about this series
And that's that it's fairly niche and few people play them outside their dedicated fans and otaku only there for muh animu highschool schlock

that's a fair complaint
I made Galuf a tanky knight/spellsword/samurai hybrid so it went pretty quick and then I got the gap moe of Krile being an insane swordgod

should have just restarted desu
but I'm surprised that you didn't keep the flail. That's some poor planning

>no porn of her like in OP
fuck

Literally ruined the game for me.

You can do everyone's story chapters in any order you want, but if you want to beeline someone's story you'll probably have to grind a lot.

I just started playing Breath of Fire 3, about 3-4 hours into it inside some big mansion. Enjoying it so far.

I am currently trying to level up in Dark Souls 2. Then I will play either FF6 again for the first time in 9 years, play FF9, or play Bravely Default.

Also, I have study coding and look for new job to for quick money.

There's a chance I gave it to someone else but I can't remember

I'm playing Mary Skelter but it's been 2 hours of nothing but dialogues so I'm thinking about dropping it.
If I wanted a visual novel I would just play one.

What are some good mobile jRPGs?

Attached: 799b3c5eac63d2af1bfb40711478c52c.gif (620x620, 1.14M)

There's a bunch of DQ ports on Android.

GBA emulation exists.

Going to play either Kingdom Hearts III, Ys VII, Nier:Automata or Dragon Quest Builders.
Trying to finish up Borderlands TPS and TFTB first.
I hope the Grandia remasters turn out alright despite the changes.

Attached: 30-tray1.gif (143x168, 74K)

>Grandia remasters
I'm still angry they are digital-only. Do they hate money?

Squenix ports and emulation. Any RPG I've tried on mobile otherwise has been shallow garbage, and I've been looking around a fair bit recently.

I know right? I would kill for physical copies other than my PS1 and Dreamcast copy.

Went back to Skies of Arcadia of the disgusting garbage that was FFX. Needed a pallet cleanser.

Attached: GEAE8P-51.png (1748x1080, 1.86M)

I suspect that I'm nearing the end of Romancing SaGa 2. I've dealt with all of the Seven Heroes other than Wagnas, who I am about to challenge, and Dantarg, who I've heard absolutely nothing about. I'm guessing Dantarg must be in the remote south somewhere, and I'm not sure how to get there just yet.

I've decided that my current armor is probably complete garbage, since a lot of the stuff I'm using was available at the start of the game, so I'm trying to get some new stuff developed before fighting Wagnas. Some enemies have been hitting me for 1000+ damage, which seems a little excessive. I can still get by, since my offensive power is plenty high, but I'm losing LP constantly.

Baten Kaitos is really damn good.

Tactics Maiden is actually decent.

Because I just finished one and now I have nothing to play.

Dantarg is in the area where the herders are, south of the gemstone mine.
You get some good armor from chests and stuff but yeah some are worth developing. However since there's multiple tiers of development you won't be able to get the best stuff by the end of the game if you start now.

I looked up some videos of baiten kaitos and it seems really confusing, which isn't really an issue, but it also seems to have some sort of real time element? Is it really intrusive? I hate ATB.

>JRPPRRFFGGG

Its real time element is about the fucking cards.
>get milk
>wait 30 minutes
>now it's yoghurt
>wait another 30
>cheese

Consider dealing with Wagnas since by defeating him you open up a certain part of the map and some pretty important lore stuff you'll otherwise completely miss.
As for armor, you should have plenty of good stuff if you have only two heroes left, after you get to the last emperors you also open up some dungeons with outrageously good stuff, and both emps come with Harmonium armors by default too.
Either way, things like Tentacle attacks will still do absurd damage even with endgame armors, the best defense in this game is either specific hard counters in forms of spells or mikiri when available, or just killing things before they kill you, do not expect armor to make much difference outside of normal battles.

Attached: DvFD2-PV4AEymeg.jpg (1536x2048, 251K)

oh goody it's another thing that gets spammed hourly.

But this isn't a smash thread

What said.
>get shampoo and conditioner
>wait 356 days
>empty shampoo and conditioner and a pile of songs in the sound test

I feel like I've gotten tons of great weapons from chests and random drops, but almost no armor. I've been using things like steel armor, budo gi, and gauntlets for basically the entire game. It seems like development progresses after just fighting a handful of battles, though, so I should be able to get something at least a little better. I tried to keep a lot of money on hand in case another expensive and important purchase like the academy came up, so I largely ignored weapon/armor development.

As for Baten Kaitos: it's not very similar to ATB, thankfully. I'm not a fan of ATB either.

Noted. I ran through an area recently that had a ton of enemies that could spam tentacle attacks for 1000+ damage, and spellcasters that could hit my entire party for 300-500, which made me feel like my defense was less than adequate. For the moment, I'm actually using lighter armor than usual in an attempt to act more quickly than enemies. Killing a group of enemies in one round is no problem so long as I can act before they do.

Im playing mhw right now and I don’t like Japanese character design at all

did you miss the rapid stream formation? With that your party is guaranteed to act first (until the formation is broken)

Just beat Tales of Symphonia was gonna go for the platinum but playing this game 4 times is a bit excessive imo. Are all tales games like this?

>Killing a group of enemies in one round is no problem so long as I can act before they do.
You have the Rapid Stream/Dragon Tail/Amazon Strike formations for that, light armor only helps if you refuse to use those or for your emperor in the spearhead of Dragon Tail.

So you can just switch between what story you want to play whenever you want? Why is it difficult to finish one story right away?

Attached: 1551942009079.jpg (800x600, 154K)

Not really

>Good Trails games
Sky SC, Sky 3rd, Zero, Ao, Cold Steel 3

>Average Trails games
Sky FC, Cold Steel 1

>Bad Trails games
Cold Steel 2, Cold Steel 4

I'm attempting to make one myself in gamemaker.
It's pretty fun to work on, but I have doubts because I know the combat isn't typically fun, it makes testing it and debugging things a bit harder because of it.

I was playing Digital Devil Saga but it got boring.

Yeah, I'm still missing that one. I've mostly been relying on the amazon raid formation.

I may need to experiment with the dragon tail formation. From the description, I thought it just made your characters act in a fixed order. If it allows everyone to act directly after the emperor, that would be really useful for me. My current empress almost always acts before anything else.

Do you think we'll finally get another Wild Arms game now Symphogear's finally over? Kaneko needs to get off his ass and give is another Wild Arms game.

Attached: Wild_ARMs_2_Cover_Art.jpg (200x200, 12K)

To be fair Sky FC is absolutely great in its writing, especially characters and dialogues.
Plot is nothing original but it's a hell of a ride.

Need help deciding what to play next
>Alliance Alive (have it on 3DS, but might just wait for the definitive edition)
>Lost Odyssey
>Baten Kaitos: Origins
>Radiant Historia
>Tales of Symphonia
>FF13
>Jeanne D'Arc
>Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines

Attached: 1822926714_jerry_seinfeld_21798_xlarge.jpg (250x271, 9K)

The game expects you to have multiple characters. for each story's second chapter, and the only way to do that is to go through another character's chapter 1. Top it off with the recommended level counter usuallly being well exceeding what you'll have for the time you reach the next chapter's town by yourself, grinding becomes a necessity, which isn't easy to do early game.

Most of them will take 2 playthroughs tops, actually 1 but its more efficient to do 2 with NG+ perks

Because I prefer the zen of destroying difficult action games.

playing Tales Of Vesparia right now. I just wish CPUs would stop burning through their MP on trash mobs forcing me to tell them to stop almost every fight.

Attached: 1264750076566.jpg (468x468, 49K)

I'm playing Dragon Quest VI and I love it. It might even top V as my favorite so far, been going in order. V had the raw emotional weight of its personal story about family, but I love the cast, world, story, and class system of VI so much.

Oh, I think I get it now. So you have to play as a character to get him to a certain point on the map and meet up with another character you played as? That sounds pretty good.

Attached: 1552124853937.png (650x700, 270K)

is baten kaitos properly emulated on dolphin or should I just buy a used copy and play on my wii

Pretty much.
>clear one guy's chap 1
>wander around the map
>find another guy
>clear guy 2's chap 1
>guy 2 joins your party.

Radiant Historia drags a bit around the middle, but I emjoyed it overall. It has good combat mechanics and a good protagonist.

Tales of Symphonia is a pretty well-rounded game. It doesn't excel in any area, but it doesn't really have any glaring flaws, either.

FF13 sucks. Maybe it gets good after 20+ hours like some claim; I don't know and I'll never know. The beginning isn't worth putting up with.

Jeanne D'Arc is a mediocre tactical RPG, and there are most likely better ones available on the PSP that you haven't played yet (Wild Arms XF, Yggdra Union, Gungnir, Tactics Ogre, Growlanser 4, etc.)

I enjoyed Oreshika quite a bit, but it's definitely not for everyone. Whether or not you'll like it depends on how interested you are in the family/dynasty-building gimmick, and how much you care about plot and characters in JRPGs. Oreshika is more focused on mechanics than storytelling.

The other games in that list I haven't played. Overall, Tales of Symphonia was probably my favorite of those games, followed closely by Oreshika and Radiant Historia.

I have a love hate relationship with FFXIII.
I can't stand walking down a straight line to fight enemies. But, the auto battle system is surprisingly in-depth. I can't stop farming for traphezodrons.

Lost Odyssey without question

>I thought it just made your characters act in a fixed order.
Every party member in the Dragon Tail formation gets to act in slot 2-3-4-5 order after the Emperor gets his turn in a round, it's basically a soft (or balanced) Rapid Stream, works great with lightweight and fast classes like City Thieves, Kunoichi and the likes as Emperors, considering it's also the earliest formation you can get it can be put to very good use.
Unfortunately, the formation's pattern makes it a bit risky for certain kind of attacks that travel horizontally and pierce through your lines, much like Rapid Stream is dangerous for vertical row attacks.
I can vouch for both Alliance Alive and Oreshika, the rest is either bad or just not worth your time.
Jeanne D'arc might be fun if you like Mahou Shoujo/Tokusatsu though, it's basically a Toku show VERY lightly inspired by the real world story, the SRPG side is very very basic though, and the game's not really interesting outside of the sheer dumbness of Jeanne being a bone fide magical girl and a certain twist, in that sense Radiant Historia is much more competent in gameplay, even though it's just as bland for everything else.

can't afford the console / PC

If I could afford it I would play it, name of game?

That its good? Gonna give it a go then.

You don't have to play the previous games right? I just want to play the game for the girls.

Waiting for Three Houses

Was Fire Emblem Echoes any good?

change their tactics, tell them to conserve TP

I'm kind of thinking I should get back to playing one. My playthrough of Persona 4 stalled some time last year and it's always been in the back of my mind that I ought to finish it, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Remembering what each Persona does is going to be a PITA. I should finish P4 since I'm going to upgrade my PC soon and that will make P5 playable at 60FPS most of the time (I think).

I've also been thinking about starting either Xenoblade, Valkyria Chronicles or Folklore. I've got too much shit to play.

All and in the order you listed them

fuck no

It looks really weird how her legs move but her butt just remains frozen in time

Yes

Why are the Trails games overwhelmingly positive on steam?

They are great games.

suggest me one to play

I got work in 10 minutes

Can you summarize what makes them great? Just really thinking if these games are worth or just another cope with not being able to play persona on pc

Judy is best girl

>not being able to play persona on pc
5? It's playable, doubt you even need a good PC

I only played the first one, but I wasn't too impressed with it. It does a good job of developing some of the characters, but outside of that everything was mediocre at best. I would have appreciated the massive amount of time and effort spent on world-building if the world was less generic.

>wanting to play persona
you can play all the good SMT games via emulator

>just another cope with not being able to play persona on pc
You can play every mainline Persona game on PC, I'm pretty sure. For free even, plus anything other than P5 should also run on pretty toaster-tier PC. If you want to play Persona, go right ahead.

So thats Emma, right?
Did they actually make the 3D models lewder?

More webms of this whore? I'll decide if I play the game or not after seeing them.

that's a round ass

What are some good jrpg's on the 3ds/ds that isnt bravely or the SMT games?

Let the BBC doujins roll, baby

Dragon Quest

No but the previous two arcs (Trails in the Sky and Trails to Zero/Azure) are

So I will use ths thread to ask, I just finished the sky trilogy and now I am thinking if I should start coldsteel 1 or wait for the geofront guys to finish the zero translation.

Is the coldsteel quadrilogy bad compared to the rest?

Haha...

Attached: F16AF358-2491-44F2-88AF-61E27E2BF5DE.jpg (1920x1080, 136K)

Yes, Cold Steel is notably worse especially compared to Zero/Azure since all the gameplay "upgrades" in CS are from those two. You can wait for the translation, but then you'll end up waiting years for the translation for Azure.

Because I need more than eyecandy to pay for a game

>Is the coldsteel quadrilogy bad compared to the rest?
No.

Busy bonding with sister.
We'll play EDF V later

Because two years later I'm still strictly only splaying Splatoon 2.

Attached: Woomycopter.gif (308x360, 1.44M)

The story, characters, pacing, and combat are all better in the crossbell arc compared to Cold Steel, plus it deals with some unresolved plot threads from Sky that won't be as fresh in your mind if you wait too long to play them. There's no reason to skip any games in the Trails series unless you're only interesting in school shit.

Get a Switch, it has every Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy from 7 'till 12, and more.

Anything not made for mobile phones (ports/emulators)

>the rest is either bad or just not worth your time.
>implying Lost Odyssey is bad

Playing TWEWY for the first time.

>F13 sucks. Maybe it gets good after 20+ hours like some claim
It doesn't, don't fall for that like I did

How would you rate it thus far? was thinking of getting into it when it was almost releasing but ended up not having time, now I do have it though

Should I play breath of fire 3 or wild arms 2? Other suggestions welcome.

I'm finishing up Breath of Fire 1 now. This last section of the game is pretty questionable.

game has some fire music though actually

>same face
>same voice
>Awful plot
>Turn based
>Grindy as shit

Reminder everything in Cold Steel was because of a curse even those who betray you are just being brainwashed

huuum I sure dont want to know where this meme comes from
When the geofront one drops I will play azure with the current translation after finishing it
good, I was thinking even if some characters are bad I still really like the world/setting enough to power through it if the overall plot is good enough.

If any of you guys have played coldsteel 3 and 4, I was thinking since I heard 3 starts to get everything together with the other characters from the other regions would you guys say the quality of the narrative goes up or it just gets worse?

I'm playing Evenicle, does that count?

>huuum I sure dont want to know where this meme comes from
They literally write "haha" a lot of time when they don't know what to say and with Rean the "haha thats our Rean" when he pull out some shit to solve all problems.

>Party member die
>revive
>Party member betray us
>he was good boy
Repeat twice

i'd play in order. i personally find cold steel to be very good but it's a lot more anime than trails in the sky. there's a lot of upside to them though.

Bruh I'm playing Tales of Destiny right now

I'm playing this one too.

the game has 0 challenge and boss fights are usually just groups of random enemies

what the hell happened

>good, I was thinking even if some characters are bad I still really like the world/setting enough to power through it if the overall plot is good enough.
Crossbell has some of the best characters in the series, Cold Steel is the one with mostly bad characters until later on in the arc (and even then some of them are bad and it has a major issue with Mary Sue type characters like Aurelia, Rean, and Towa). The plots are generally fucking awful besides CS3 and some of CS4 unfortunately. CS1 and 2 combined feel like the first 3 chapters of FC in terms of actual story content; there's a lot of filler and they're the only games in the series that feel like pieces of a story rather than a complete story on their own.

The localization cuts down on the amount of "haha"s and "Rean..."s a lot at least.

>there's a lot of upside to them though.
Yeah like anime schoolgirls and uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Haha...

>turn-based
Just play an ARPG, you autist

DS, Switch, or mobile?

TWEWY, Radiant Historia, Etrian Odyssey, Dragon Quest, DS port of Chrono Trigger, Tales of the Abyss 3DS port, etc...

>interesting, fleshed out world
>cool locations
>good combat
>lots of minigames and good gameplay flow
>cool and varied cast of characters
>great ost
all of that

For me, it's Joona's Joonas

Attached: junagrope.webm (480x295, 703K)

I have it, but I want a kusoge fanservice-y to pick up and play.

I'm emulating Persona 3

It's mostly boring as shit but when there's actually story to get through it's pretty good. Haven't had to go out of my way to obtain specific personas yet so that's a positive, just started July though. Also the voice acting is either fantastic or some of the worst I've ever heard, I curious how those casting meetings went.

Attached: 1557865547660.jpg (524x468, 51K)

I like JRPGs but they're too much of a time commitment.

>>interesting, fleshed out world
Which isn't as interesting or as fleshed-out as it should be
>cool locations
Which aren't as cool as the previous games
>good combat
A strict downgrade from the 3 games before CS1 and arguably still a strict downgrade from SC due to the laughable difficulty
>lots of minigames
They ruined fishing and Blade is neat but ultimately pointless and it was better in Brandish anyway
>cool and varied cast of characters
Of which about 80% are fucking terrible compared to the previous arcs
>great OST
Can't argue with this one, although they do run the best song from the first game into the ground

I am

Based FFV

Just got done playing Dragon Warrior 2. That game made me want to blow my brains out

>why are the both memeing it as cold steel, it seriously can't be called that
>that's exactly what it's called

Modern JRPGs are dead

I really want to replay this since it's been over a decade since I played it last and it would be fresh. I think it's time.

Attached: 1532298818044.jpg (975x554, 75K)

Reminder not to trust anyone who has something good to say about Cold Steel, 4 completely destroys the series and makes me regret the time I invested into it, also there is a fucking FIFTH CS game coming out because condom can't let go of his self insert

Yes. The story was enjoyable. The art and animation are stellar. The maps aren't too good but they were good enough.

I like the damage formulas.
On a fourjobfiesta run atm and I've got Mystic Knight.

Have two swords, Enhancer(102 attack) and Rune Edge(50 attack) and I was curious with how they measured up since rune weapons have different mechanics.
First Rune Weapons spend mp with attacks, for a bonus attack, 20, so it's actually at 70, but then the magic stat is added onto the normal strength based damage formula, and it cuts enemy defense by 4, so it outperforms the enhancer, especially when I have !Black equipped on the mystic knight.

Attached: RuneEdgeEnhancer.png (961x501, 32K)

Wat what about the "end of a saga" part in the title?

The actual VA for the MC posted here and someone made him record this
soundcloud.com/anime_sonicmega/rean-coldsteel

I've been enjoying it quite a bit. The mechanics are pretty solid as usual, and I like the basic premise. Playing as all the heirs of a royal dynasty and expanding your empire while battling the Seven Heroes across multiple generations is a pretty unique setup. I also always appreciate base/kingdom building in JRPGs, as well as having a bunch of characters/classes to play around with.

You can see her thing...

Kondo doesn't feel like he's done with Erebonia and CS yet

The ost literally get worse as the game ascend. They changed the composers they normally used in the latest trails for III and IV.

Here is your true final boss theme who also is used in the final dungeon
youtu.be/Hxn65baVPTc

Rean story end but he will still keep appearing and next game has been teased to be some sort of 4.5 with a brand new mc but trying to conect with future entries. Similar to trails 3rd while you played as Kevin but still recruited the whole SC cast

Persona 3 has the slow start of them all. But after that it's the story I liked the most. P5 being the worst.

I unironically enjoyed CS2 because that means extra Laura content.

Attached: 1561662373534.jpg (600x675, 86K)

What are some of the best JRPGs on the switch? I think I might pick one up soon.

I've been playing DoW instead

Persona 5 was my favourite in term of waifus, outside your team lol I actually liked the main story first half but its just get worse by the end. Ialdabaoth literally worst evil entity

There are like 3 JRPG (DQ, FF, SMT) series worth playing, and then not even all of the games in them. And a couple off odd ones as well I guess.

I heard Persona 3 has 15 versions with different bonus content. Which do you play if you only want to play the game once or twice?

You can't play her game but yiu can olay her other game and have a nap on her thighs

Why?

Just play fest on ps2, the fest part is because they include an after story called "the answer" and you play with Aigis as mc. It also include the main campaign.

P3P for psp has a female version of the mc and you can date the guys, it has some new parts written for a girl's perspective but doesn't include the answer. You can still play the normal campaign with the male mc.

Webm's game is CS4 which is not out yet, 3 COULD be released this year for filthy gaijin (it won't).
You can sleep on her lap in 2 which is out though

Haha...

playing XB2 now for the first time and loving it. It reminds me of the magic I felt with JRPG's as a kid.

Same, second playthrough in a row. So comfy

God, I love pixel art. Who did that one

Xenoblade 2 and Ys VIII are the only JRPGs on it I've enjoyed. I tried Tales of Vesperia but didn't like the combat and overworld so I dropped it early.

thanks

I probably wouldn't play fem anyway, not in this sort of game.
Fest it is, thanks bro

Attached: 1209578568429.gif (310x233, 113K)

I recommended it to my little sister for her first jrpg and now she’s fallen in love with the genre completely
The game doesn’t really offer anything new to the genre but it’s great as an entry point or nostalgia trip.

the new one is basically a spinoff that addresses the remaining plot threads or something.

>maybe it gets good after 20 hours
it doesn't, it doesn't even open up like people claimed. It gives you tutorials right up until the final boss. I liked the combat though, best combat in the series bar none since you have to actually time shit. You know, active time battling.

i just beat chrono trigger today

Finished Ys VIII. Poor Dana.

What are generally light hearted jrpgs with turn based combat and less focus on grand politics or world ending shit?
inb4 play VNs

I started playing dragon quest builders today on switch and it's got me pretty much hooked already. charming and chill.

Attached: Screenshot_2015-09-30-16-43-08.png (1080x1920, 1.1M)

Outside of the intermissions and the end. The game felt boring and padded especially when the dungeon designs and gameplay is braindead.

I was thinking of getting XBC2 when I next paid, but since it’s so close, I’m gonna hold on to my money until three houses, then get the former after I feel like I’ve finished 3H

>play any recent jrpg
>it either starts nice and takes a huge dive in quality some hours in, or is straight up bad from the start, and both are why I usually drop recent jrpgs

When I was a kid and didnt know better I would play and finish them regardless of quality, but now I have limited time for vidya so if a game cant keep my interest I will switch to something else as soon as possible.
Last one I actually enjoyed fully was Persona 5.
YS VIII, Cold Steel 2 and Bravely Default just barely kept my interest, but I feel like only stuff up to the PS2/GC era manage to be consistent in quality.

How the fuck does gear in Vagrant Story work?

Attached: 1541965026610.jpg (546x706, 92K)

>Last one I actually enjoyed fully was Persona 5.
>YS VIII, Cold Steel 2 and Bravely Default just barely kept my interest
So you've enjoyed the one that's offensively bad while decent games can't keep your interest?

cringe

>part 2 bravely

Attached: Pour.jpg (640x480, 32K)

I'm replaying XB2 though

I'm playing persona 2

Attached: 1478581664615.png (500x384, 79K)

>Last one I actually enjoyed fully was Persona 5.
this fits the reason you supposedly don't like jRPGs far more than ysVIII or bravely default

Attached: kodak.jpg (1189x1200, 86K)

Monstania and the Atelier games are all that really comes to mind offhand. In the latter series, I enjoyed Mana Khemia, Rorona, Totori, Meruru, Ayesha, and Annie.

Metal Saga and the Metal Max games might be worth looking into as well.

Thank you fren, all those settings kinda started to look like the same

Played Cold Steel 1, than I learn that I fuck up.
Start playing Trail in the Sky and I definitely fuck up.

This serie is doomed anyway, it's either beyond saving if you're a falcofag or was never good if you hate them. Just go with the flow and see how far they can go

>Persona 5
>bad

Did you try to bait or are you really retarded?

The Caligula Effect

Playing Trails in the sky right now
Pretty comfy

Attached: Sky.png (1366x768, 2.73M)

Just google it you fag.

Attached: cute.gif (620x620, 1.14M)

I get where you're coming from. Personally, I appreciate it when the focus is on the protagonist trying to achieve their own personal goals, rather than them just reacting to the villain or some impending disaster.

not him but her's right. The poster who praised P5 says he doesn't like jRPGs because
>it either starts nice and takes a huge dive in quality some hours in,
yet this applies more to persona 5 than any other jRPG out now. The gameplay amounts to a watered down SMT at best and the story is just awful by the time it reaches kaneshiro, ending off with one of the worst final arcs in jRPGs lately

Playing 3rd myself. Enjoy Kondo's wild ride.

Attached: 58278477_p32.jpg (1200x960, 680K)

seriously cringe

great argument, I bet you're giddy at the thought of handing over $60 shekels for what should be a $20 max expansion for P5

>shitting on Persona of all jrpgs
I would tell you how stupid you are but it's not even worth the time.

Look at those gams.

It more like, after finishing Cold Steel 1, I learn that I was missing 5 games worth of story.

Is it good?

I like persona 3/4, 5 was a disappointment. There's nothing interesting with the combat since they drained all the difficulty out, the story gets worse as the game goes on, and it's stretched out far too long. The calendar events (or event, there was only one) is a joke compared to 3/4

unironically can't wait

There are people that think FFX is the best FF game. Let that sink in.

Is Shadow Hearts worth playing?

Attached: 1557304024987.jpg (512x512, 31K)

>yes please fuck my ass harder atlus, I'll gladly pay $60 for $15 worth of content from a ps3 game

Attached: artworks-000278785370-xuy3qu-t500x500[1].jpg (500x500, 44K)

If you've watched Symphogear then you know that Kaneko has completely lost any and all ability to write, and you wouldn't want to watch him ruin the WA series.

I'm playing FF12 TZA.

because jrpgs are bad
over time i have realized the only good ones are drpgs

I like it so far
It's kinda slow at times and has some backtracking but it's not that much of an issue in the pc version thanks to the turbo button
It's up to you

But I am

Attached: 20190714164418_1.jpg (1920x1080, 353K)

I'm playing the superior jp only version of FC on Vita right now, and it's basically the final stage in evolution for "classic style" jrpgs. The setting, the art, the 3D models and the aesthetic are all perfect. It's an old fashioned society with a type of magic technology that powers their weapons and airships and whatnot. The characters are great, and the battle system is like the turn order based system of FFX but with positioning on the map actually being important. There are also little quality of life things everywhere that make the game an absolute joy to play.

Apparently that all goes out the window in Sen, though, because from what I've heard and seen the game progression gets a lot more linear and the games star a typical LN haremshit protagonist as the MC. The games even have a stupid school idol type student counsel president who the current Falcom president is shilling as the mascot girl of the series.

You playing 1 or 2? I'm too broke for 2 right now.

Not him, but 5 was miles and miles ahead of 4. 4 was just a bad game, and people who didn't like the ending series of events where you plot against Goro and then find out Igor was an imposter are dumb.

Because I cant find a torrent for Xeno chronicles x JP version.

>I've played nothing but JRPG this year
Send help
The worst of all is that i still have a huge backlog of shit i want to get in

Attached: 1556740438366.jpg (1280x720, 119K)

p4 had its problems but was consistent throughout, unlike p5 which just gets worse. It didn't have nearly as much filler

>are dumb
why? goro is an awful character and yaldaboath didn't have the tonal or story build up that nyx avatar did in 3

>Bianca
would you look at that, it's my first childhood crush

Attached: 1549566065973.png (389x290, 98K)

Because 95% of JRPGs are the same cash grab shit game with the same garbage tropes in the same garbage stories.

I used to like Tales of Symphonia before I realized it was every single JRPG in a nutshell.

If I wanted to spend half an hour in a tutorial, I would do it with something that would actually enrich my life.

Whats a good jrpg with good fanservice
Playing xenoblade 2 right now and its pretty good
Trails looks good but I'm not a sonyfag

I wanted to like P3 more but I didn't like controlling one person regardless of tactics. I really liked the story until towards the end of the game and I lost interest.

Attached: 2348b3005267e6998574db158438c644.jpg (827x1377, 181K)

>but was consistent throughout
Consistently mediocre for the most part, but then literally everything surrounding the true ending was stupid and made no sense. The just start yelling about finding the truth, and then suddenly all the evidence you gathered means nothing and you pull the identity of the real culprit out of your ass.

>goro is an awful character
Who died like a dog and was forgotten. It was fantastic. They'll ruin it with Royal I'm sure, but the base game was great.

>and yaldaboath didn't have the tonal or story build up that nyx avatar did in 3
"It wasn't as good as 3" doesn't make it bad, and the reveal about Igor was fantastic, especially if you played the game in moon and were aware that his seiyuu had passed away. It was a meta twist that I've never seen done in a game before, and it was brilliant.

>died like a dog
>had an "epic change of heart" moment

>finished YS VIII
>got true ending
>mfw everything about the story

Attached: rs.jpg (459x336, 11K)

>liked the P3 story
>until the end
You got it backwards.

>It was a meta twist that I've never seen done in a game before, and it was brilliant
fucking persona babies

you shouldn't play ys for the story but to be honest there were too many cutscenes in VIII

Attached: latest[1].png (252x376, 96K)

What are the best JRPGs on the PC? I stopped playing JRPGs but I want to get back into them. Any good suggestions?

emulate SMT nocturne, xenoblade, and mother 3. souls series is another obvious one

I'm playing Breath of Fire 3 actually. So far it's pretty comfy

Not really. Haru even tried to recruit him for a second and he didn't go with them. They were treading on thin ice, but it was fine as is. Like I said, I'm sure Royal will involve him surviving and joining your party because saying sorry is enough to excuse murdering a bunch of innocent people in cold blood including the father of one of the cast members (and maybe even Futaba's mom) and will ruin the whole thing.

Name one game other than P5 that used the death of a well known seiyuu as a reason to switch the voice of his character entirely, only to reveal at the end that it was an imposter in the story and the real version of that character still had the same kind of voice. You can't, because you're a fucking retard who just wants to shitpost about Persona.

I liked the story for the most part but the ending was pretty unsatisfying. Tragedies are fine but I really hated the Eternians getting erased/the castaways not remembering anything about the situation you were in during the "dream" world

>muh thousand years dream
Fuck off

9 is the best, but X is my favorite. I'm in love with the concept that you're playing a direct sequel to a game that never existed. Kinda like the first Castlevania with Some.

the voice twist was used in MGS2. No one died but obviously I can't use death as a means since that's an obtuse event. The twist doesn't change the fact that everything about yaldaboath was shit. It may have been an EPIC MOMENT! but it doesn't have substance

>but obviously I can't use death as a means since that's an obtuse event
Do you know what "meta" means? That was the whole point of the meta twist. So either provide a comparable meta example or fuck you, you shitposting retard.

metal gear solid 2, colonial AI voice

*Soma

Not him, but how about MGS5 then, since that's more recent?

Any non-emulation games? I am honestly looking for some good story/gameplay waifubait games.

Do you know what meta means?

>Jade Empire
>a JRPG
Yep, Summer Yea Forums is here.

Attached: 1557455100435.png (708x835, 1.19M)

Been playing FF7, but I hate playing games on my laptop, setting it up on the tv is a hassle
I lost interest in X-2 and XIII because I didn't like the combat, but after playing VII, I may go back to them.
I haven't played P4G because I'm afraid the sauna miniboss will kick my ass.
I haven't continued Ni no Kuni because I've been focusing on other games/jrpgs
Haven't been playing Digimon Cyber Sleuth because I've been focusing on PS3 games
I'm too big of a coward to continue DeS or DS1
Every other JRPG I own I haven't started because those games are long and I have too much of a backlog. With the PS3 dying I'll start P5, Tales of Gf/X1/X2 eventually.

Dragon Quest. I've only played IX, but my biggest complaint was how many side stories and neat adventures there were that were completely unrelated to the plot at large. Coming from other more plot driven rpgs I really wasn't able to appreciate it as much

yes, campbell's VA was told to act in a certain way to trick the audience in the same way raiden gets tricked about the situation

>playing JRPGs for the challenge
fuck off Darksouls degenerate

there are several jRPGs more difficult than the souls series

Like?

Attached: 1562716843802.jpg (540x480, 48K)

Yes its great, the first two games. Third one was weird and doesn't follow the same continuity

Which Atelier game should I start with? Saw a torrent for the Arland trilogy recently and got me thinking about trying the series. Never was a big fan of time management shit so I never looked into the series, but having finished Persona 5 after retrying it, I'm willing to give it a second look.

Should I start with Rorona or go back to one of the PS2 ones?

woo
only took 14 phoenix downs and like 19 Flares

Attached: LockeShinryuVictory.png (966x858, 345K)

Japanese, Chinese, Canadian, it's all the same shit.

1 and 2 are kino. 3 is weird like said but was still a lot of fun. Play it for Ricardo alone

Attached: ricardo.jpg (540x405, 41K)

Because Hollow Knight refuses to end

I've searched for answers of that before but never gone through with them. I think the general answer is to start with the beginning of any trilogy.

I'm (probably) close to the end of DQV, will likely go to IV next. I'd tried IX and XI but this was the first time I was really able to get inot a DQ game.

That's still all contained within the story and doesn't leverage a real world event outside of the game like P5 did.

I'm playing utawarerumono if that counts

If I remember correctly Shadow Heart 1 both ending are canon, that shit blew my mind a lot also Karin being Yuri's mom

Nice i'll start playing them soon then thanks for the answers

Attached: 1561311140778.jpg (1196x1200, 92K)

Shadow Hearts is one of the few games where the bad ending is actually canon. Not that it really matters

Lilika is best girl.

Attached: l.jpg (296x350, 21K)

>Goro gets exposed solely because of pancakes
That shit was retarded and you know it

Kaneko is a girl. Also we got a new Wild Arms and it was a shitty phone game. Let's pray they don't make any more.

Kanon is best woman though.

Attached: 26446808.jpg (1280x944, 575K)

Here, have a higher res you poor soul

Attached: wa2 lilka.jpg (1016x1200, 817K)

Going to play FFX once I get burnt out from Risk of Rain 2

>best JRPG of this year so far was a fucking MMO

Attached: emet.png (338x327, 169K)

This is now a Wild Arms thread.

Attached: Wild Arms 5 Illust2.jpg (700x850, 185K)

I don't need it to be that difficult. It's probably the easiest RPG I've ever played, though.

I haven't come close to dying yet. I never use items because the game heals you after every single battle. You can actually use your food sack to heal while just walking around, but I've never needed it. I haven't done any grinding at all. Boss fights last about 20 seconds and feel like random encounters.

I think I'm about halfway through now, so maybe it gets harder.

Thank you, you're a good man.

Attached: 075.jpg (1024x576, 51K)

I can only play the vita version, would you still recommend it?

>Boob jiggle
>No ass jiggle
Disappointing

What JRPG even came out this year? I feel like all we've been getting is ports, re-releases and remakes.

WA2 bros stick together

Attached: wa2 access.jpg (591x800, 174K)

I'm playing some FF X-2, and while the gameplay is good, the dumb story and the completion bullshit is driving me insane

Attached: 20190714190011_1.jpg (1920x1080, 157K)

I don't know then, it seems like it would run really badly
not to mention Overdose does give more content

You're not going to get close to 100% without following a guide, so don't even worry about it. Just shut your brain off for the story, it's irrelevant anyway.

Attached: 1467697534802.gif (350x174, 272K)

the bad ending of the first game leads to the second game where the good ending resets time to the start of the first game so you can get the good ending

Akifumi is a boy's name.

Huh, maybe I don't remember the first 2 games as well as I thought I did.

I'm on NG+ actually, even with a guide I managed to somehow miss all this shit, some of these like the moonflow intro makes no fucking sense to me since I know for sure I went to all areas on every chapter so I guess the game's kinda fucked or some shit

either way, it gives me an excuse to replay it with the japanese audio, if I don't get 100% from the extra % of the new yevon route then I'll just fucking save edit or something

Attached: ffx-2 completion bullshit.png (1179x897, 1.61M)

I think we're all in agreement that this is the best JRPG ever made.

Attached: suikoden 2.jpg (800x783, 139K)

This shitpost never gets old.

Why do people say Breath of Fire 3 is the best in the series when 4 is clearly better?

youtu.be/wLImJOIl2D8

Not that user but do you remember the Alice dying was the bad ending and mc was sad because of that the whole second game? at the end of the second game mc kinda like reset his whole adventure and time travel to the past so now he can make things differently implying the good ending

Is this your first time playing it?
I was excited for X-2 after playing through X, bought it when it came out and hated it.

Only if Luca could have lived longer to spread his madness more.

>finish cold steel
>like it
>come to Yea Forums to talk about it
>find out it's actually a bad game
>start disliking it
This happen to anyone else?

Haha...

No. I've never played a game staring a special snowflake highschool MC with hidden edgelord powers that has girls tripping over themselves and falling onto his dick and thought "What a great story!"

Yeah, while some parts are enjoyable I'd definitely lean towards skipping this one, I'm just completing cause I'm in too deep at this point and I hate leaving things unfinished

Attached: 20190616123354_1.jpg (1920x1080, 593K)

No. I was kinda hyped when finish first time but later in a second playthrough I start disliking it more, playing the older games also had a negative effect I cannot see them as good anymore but allow me to say the combat in Cold Steel is the best in trails simply because they been refining it for each entry however the difficulty seems to drop when they keep expanding the system.

You kinda break the final boss with all these playable characters

Attached: Cold Steel IV.jpg (907x618, 228K)

t.

Attached: npc.jpg (455x768, 51K)

Fair enough.

I've been playing through Terranigma and it's kinda ass. Everything is just so tedious and slow. I don't think the town expansion mechanic is worth the slog

I was going to replay through Trails in the Sky since I lost my save in a harddrive failure. Honestly though I find the first game really drags for most of the beginning and middle. It's making it a chore to redo

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

You have ADHD, you should go get some meds to help.

No. I still really enjoy Cold steel and even CS2 despite that game having a lot of fucking problems. They are definitely the weakest in the kiseki series, but they are still really fun games with good and interesting characters.
You can still like something and acknowledge the flaws of said thing.

the classic sky fc experience

>FC drags for most of the beginning and middle
Sounds about right.

Attached: 37457634_p0.jpg (1000x719, 545K)

I am playing Xenogears on my PSP, i am planning to play wild arms 2 on PSP after i finish Xenogears then emulate Shadow Hearts 1,2 and 3 since i just finished Koudelka right before i started Xenogears and i thought it was kino.
I also have to start Xenosaga 2 and 3 since it has been a while since i finished Xenosaga 1.

Too many games, too little time though.

Attached: 1542911526481.gif (271x270, 1.73M)

cuz it's a jrpg

Attached: demolaugh.png (350x352, 125K)

just the first one. had it for a long ass time and never gave it much of a chance until now

cause all jrpgs play the same and use the same uninteresting chzracter archetypes

woohoo I killed 278460602081 slimes so now I get to upgrade my magic attack for character X so I can just one shot the final boss

.t zoomer

So I win, thanks for the (You).

yes, you're a true "winner" kids

Attached: retard wins.jpg (620x330, 34K)

Enjoy killing slimes, rats and mimmics until you can level up your "Sword of god" attack to defeat the "elden demon", sure is fucking interesting gameplay!

Attached: Screenshot_2019-07-15-06-16-49-883_com.android.chrome.jpg (1080x1166, 225K)

PokeMMO combines 4 pokemon regions into one world, lets you play in real time with hundreds of other players, and implemented a Dragon Warrior Monsters breeding system. It's absolute cocaine

Can only play on Android phones though

>all JRPGS play the same
>TWEWY, Dragon’s Dogma, KH2FM, Chrono Trigger, SMT, and countless others all play the same
Yeah, no.

not my fault you keep basing your opinions on isekai "rpg" anime and Dragon Quest retard

Final Fantasy 1 might be the most boring game i've played in my life

Because that's what JRPGs are. Storyshit that belongs on Yea Forums. Same with western RPGs over the last 20 or so years, they're just fucking wannabe JRPGs that belong on Yea Forums.

Hey ACfag

You mean this one?

Attached: Screenshot_20190714-224121_Google Play Store.jpg (1080x2220, 834K)

I'm at work

what is the point of continuing to play jrpgs after finishing xenogears?

Attached: FC.png (768x576, 532K)

because they're all inferior to Divinity: Original Sin 2.
youtube.com/watch?v=gZ8pLgFDO6k

Attached: runescape_2007.0.jpg (1200x800, 177K)

Nothing really, it's just been ports, remakes, remasters, Neptunia, and Atelier. Shadowbringers was the only good new JRPG

I was thinking of picking up xenoblade chronicles 2 how is it? Is the story good? Hopefully not filled with clichés

Attached: 1561655155958.gif (497x372, 120K)

watch your average harem anime instead

has both

there is no harem in xenoblade 2

I can't wait for RS3 to drop and sweep all that garbage aside

The finale in that game was fucking crazy. I know some people hated the ending though.

>snake faggot
>"there's no way to prevent this"
>"there REALLY is no way to prevent this happening"
>"IN ABSOLUTELY NO WAY, EVEN WITH A MIRACLE, IS IT POSSIBLE TO STOP HUMANITY'S DEMISE"
>"ok there's a way, follow me to my fountain"

What kind of spin can you give a traditional turn based JRPG to make the combat less of a chore and more fun?
Asking for science.

Attached: 580b585b2edbce24c47b29f6.png (384x313, 39K)

The fuck is RS3?

stop grinding like a retarded child.

give it press turn or a rhythm mini game

>has good story
Why do you have to lie?

Is the story at least not shit?

Attached: 1562891908868.jpg (720x644, 69K)

yeah the pacing is fucked though, Chapter 2 and 4 suck

didn't you watch E3? Romancing SaGa 3

I simply don't give enough of a fuck to grind for 500 gorillion hours to enjoy a 4 hour movie or reading a book.

>Is the story at least not shit
Come on, user.

Attached: 1551756936461.webm (854x480, 2.05M)

you shouldn't listen to this guy, he posted a video from a side quest. He hasn't played the game

But wouldn't it be better, for the companies who make games like that, if you did grind for 500 gorillion hours instead of watching a movie or a book? Think about it.

Come on, user.

Attached: 1552612103251.jpg (892x4518, 1.06M)

There's a patch if you're going to emulate that let's you control your party member, if you want to.

>Hopefully not filled with clichés
It's literally that, and not in an enjoyable way.

it's weebkino, I don't mean that in a demeaning way. The director went all out with his insanity and otaku fetishes

>weebkino
>otaku fetishes
so it's shit

don't know which one to play

please respond

Attached: chihuahua.jpg (683x683, 68K)

Not liking boring stretches of games isn't a sign of ADHD

Fuck, man. Is it at least fun?
I just need some jrpgs for my dumbass switch

Attached: 1562886331913.png (750x709, 651K)

Grandia combat is the greatest implementation of turn based JRPG combat

I was going to wait for Grandia HD to replay it but I think it is vaporware. I'm really curious about the Japanese dub though.

combat is great, exploration is worse than Xenoblade X but better than any other modern jRPG unless you consider the souls series as jRPGs

>I need some jRPGs for my switch
you made a huge mistake buying a switch for jRPGs if you were iffy on xenoblade 2, it's the only worthwhile jrpg

if you are looking for a good story, go far away

if you want as many shitty anime tropes as you can find, stay

Attached: 1551751163437.webm (1280x720, 2.74M)

Alright, last time I'll bother you guys. Are the tropes more amusing and silly or fucking obnoxious? sorry for so many questions

Attached: 1562101639803.jpg (627x1027, 97K)

Which JRPG should i play? FFXIV, ni no kuni 2, or digital devil saga 1

yes to both, amusing in the second half, obnoxious in the first

DDS

DDS

ni no kuni is meh and FFXIV requires a good amount of investment

>3 COULD be released this year for filthy gaijin (it won't)
Isn't it coming in September?

>FFXIV requires a good amount of investment
i already beat SHB .

then still play DDS unless you want to farm out the high end duties

They're entertaining enough at first, but then towards the end they juxtapose stupid shounen manga cliches against a more serious story and it just doesn't work at all. I lost all desire to play the game on NG+ and do the sidequests after seeing the end of the game.

Also, gachashit ruins the gameplay.

Should I play Wild Arms 3 or Tales of Destiny next?

>Enjoy killing slimes, rats and mimmics until you can level up your "Sword of god" attack to defeat the "elden demon"
Literally what game? Cause I've never seen that shit even once.

That's basically Gothic 1.

>Yea Forums has a boner for 90's JRPGs' stories
>an 80's anime that is Xenoblade 2 is somehow bad
The fuck?

Yea Forums is also incredibly insecure when some thing is "too anime" or any kind of exclusive

I spent like 40 or 50 hours on the first chapter. I was obsessed with building my town only to leave it later and start over. -_-

Attached: 54928735_p0.png (500x400, 27K)

I bet you my left nut it'll be delayed

I liked the characters, atmosphere, music and NPCs but I hate that Jesus guy.

I'm playing Kingdom Hearts right now. (It counts as a JRPG, right? I never really thought about it until now)
Game is pretty endearing, even if the dialogue and cutscenes are stiff.
However, the camera sucks fucking dick. Also, while it's usually not a problem, I don't like how you can't interact with shit in combat, and semi-ragequit (more just frustrated-quit) earlier today because I fell in Hollow Bastion (had to beat enemies to interact with something, and attacking the enemies sent me right off the edge)

jrpgs fucking suck

It counts. The camera is bad but it's worth playing through.

I think it's something you have to install through dev mode. A cursory google search will give you the website.

It's a great game with all the different characters connecting stories.

Playing Radiant Historia right now. Loving it but god, I hate turn based combat.

I don't think it's the best but I think it's the last good one we got. Last one that feels like Final Fantasy.
I loved Skies of Arcadia but I didn't like the high encounter rate when looking for Discoveries.

You're almost at the end. For what it's worth, Kingdom Hearts 2 FM plays ten times better. Are you playing the HD versions?

>You're almost at the end.
Really? I figured average playtime was like 30 hours, and my friend said I was only halfway through (currently around 15 hours in). Is there a lot of cutscenes or something?

>For what it's worth, Kingdom Hearts 2 FM plays ten times better.
I'll keep that in mind. If I continue with this series I plan to go down the rabbit hole of playing them all in release order, though, so next would be Chain of Memories.

>Are you playing the HD versions?
No, original version. Don't own a PS3/4.

Just started Tales of Graces F. The characters are somehow less dumb than Berseria, and the towns are more streamlined than Vesperia which is nice.

Well, after Hollow Bastion there's some shit that goes down, then you return there. After that it's mostly cutscenes and shit until the final world unlocks IIRC

Replaying cold steel 2 getting ready for 3. Also got the English patch zero and ao today

What am I in for?

>Xenoblade 2
>80's anime
You don't watch 80's anime.

it's inspired by the 80s anime takahashi watched as a kid

>Takahashi said...
You don't watch 80's anime and you never read the actual interviews with him in Japanese.

Trails series really is shit. Especially Cold Steel.

Well, that is our Trails for you.

nope, Trails is fun and comfy.

Attached: mill.png (1280x669, 1.7M)

I loved XC2, as waifushit that was actually fun to play. I tried both Shining Resonance Refrain and Ys VIII as replacements, but both felt mediocre. What is a good JRPG I can play on Switch that has enough gameplay depth to actually be fun but is also trashy enough to be waifushit?

How far did you get on Ys VIII? Also it didn't click with me until I put it on higher difficulty.

Wild Arms 3 is kino

Is kenshi a jrpg? Bad luck Brian here posting with my tounge.

The first T-Rex boss where you get your third party member. Someone said the game was "like Tales of," so me in my boomerism assumed that meant "like Tales of Symphonia." If any of the characters had made an impression on me I would have continued regardless, but that was not the feel.

>Someone said the game was "like Tales of,"
Shoot that person

I've never made a white mage character that doesn't also have either summons, black magic or time magic to back them up. All of those have offensive options.

Calvard when?

Attached: calvard when.png (405x646, 21K)

Never ever

im about to start vagrant story. some top 25 ps1 games list said some shit like "if you play the first 5 minutes of this game and dont continue on youre crazy" so i wanted to see whats up.

Attached: tumblr_p6f6w3v3B41wbtqhjo1_1280.png (1280x1280, 1.09M)

I played it when I was a dumbass kid, you're pretty much guaranteed 100% on NG+ as long as you continue doing most things and just take the different options when they're presented

I really hate the FF X-2 being "actually good" meme. Most of the game is lazily recycled from FF X including the awful controls now made even more awful since there's awkward jump points everywhere that are barely indicated. The writing is fucking atrocious at all points, most things just don't make sense on a fundamental level, and for a game where you spend the majority of it retracing over Spira and talking to people for sidequests, that's kind of a problem. The combat is also nothing special, it could've been good but the game slows down to a crawl to let any spell animation go off completely invalidating the active time battle aspect. Ironically this is something FF XIII did much better. it's just fucked up that a fully turn based game like FF X actually delivers faster paced combat for the most part. Music is also fucking garbage and I hate it. Lulu's still slim and wearing her bondage dress when she's ostensibly 8 months pregnant which just goes hand in hand with how lazy everything is.

>it's just fucked up that a fully turn based game like FF X actually delivers faster paced combat for the most part.
Turn/speed-based combat is always faster than ATB or cooldowns crap, more news at 11.

Does Judgment count?

Attached: 1562640699836.jpg (900x462, 77K)

ur a faget

>it's just fucked up that a fully turn based game like FF X actually delivers faster paced combat for the most part.
The problem with ATB outside of being inherently garbage gameplay wise is that FF games are all about visuals so of fucking course everything has to be drawn out and take forever, which reflects on the ATB messing up with the battle system and make everything take forever because your average animation is 10 seconds long.
Take another ATB system actually done right like Last Ranker and you'll see the difference.

>Defending XIII
And just like that your opinion is invalidated.

Equip the white maps for a sane encounter rate

Why is Wild Arms 5 so rare? I can find 3 everywhere.

Damn. I didn't know about that. Pretty sure I got under 50 Discoveries.

I was hoping for this since I honestly didn't care too much for Xenoblade Chronicles 1. It looked like a different experience. Maybe I didn't give XC1 enough of a chance.

Attached: tumblr_p0gr4wWbBg1ueqs8po1_1280.jpg (850x1161, 116K)

Both are very good, the only thing in the series so far I wouldn't recommend would be X. The plot and characters are really awful, not because they're cliche but because they're barebones and you play a hangeron who watches the real MCs do everything.

I wish they would put Koudleka on PSN I never got to finish it.

I still prefer Xenoblade 1 to this day. Less obvious pandering with the story and characters and the open world fodder at least sticks to offline MMO shit and doesn't mix in elements of shitty mobile and browser games.

Because I’m busy trying to get through the FF XIV msq

I still can't find a Tales I enjoyed as much as Symphonia even though everyone tells me it is bad. Last one I played was Zestiria and I'm too gun shy to try another recent one.

Enjoy that fucking kino

That's alright I don't have access to a Wii U.

Not 'less obvious' just in a different style. XC1 is anime as hell, the only people who say otherwise haven't seen anything outside of entry level shounen.

Xenoblade Chronicles

>XC1 is anime as hell
Name one anime where the childhood friend who's liked the MC forever ends up happy with him and the strange new girl he meets during the story doesn't win. That's a serious request. Please.

Oreshika is complete shit. Sorry my dude.

For manga? Alive, the final evolution and it was shit for it.

Melia is best girl and best girls always lose, user.

Mental Illness: The Post

Maybe its time to finish Trails of Cold Steel 2. I feel like the pacing is screwed up. Last time I stopped was at the 2nd of the 4 Spirit Shrines.

I didn't ask for one manga from 16 years ago, I want to know which anime do this.

Melia is a good girl, but Fiora was best girl.

Oreshika is GOAT dungeon crawler material

Attached: ore2_20180228_011553.jpg (960x544, 94K)

I had a dream about this game last night

3DS unfortunately.

XC1 has a greater for penchant for standard JRPG tropes than anime tropes. XC2 is the opposite.

is there a game that actually corresponds w this gif? i love me some cat ppl

The Persona series is a masterpiece of mediocrity but no one feels confident enough to give their honest opinion about the games because they are shilled so hard that people believe their opinion is invalid. 3 is shit, 4 is double shit and 5 is dipped in shit.

If you are a Persona fan, you fell for the marketing and flashy lights.

>Likes whiny sluts

>He thinks those are separate things

Vita denialist confirmed.

>Less obvious pandering with the story and characters
XB1 is the same revenge tatakae shit as one of the most popular and overrated anime titles of the last decade.

I'm so sorry to hear about your brain damage, user.

Not him, but they absolutely are. The only people who think they're the same and that XB1 was as anime as XB2 are the people that don't actually watch anime, or at least haven't watched it in the last 20 years.

Has anyone played The Awakened Fate Ultimatum? Is it worth it for the waifus? I've had it for years now and haven't touched it yet and don't have much experience with roguelike aside from Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon.

Attached: afu.png (589x331, 375K)

Persona is based, contrarian Ass Nigga

They are, honestly. The Chosen One MC whose town gets attacked in the first chapter of a story is way more of a JRPG trope than an anime trope, for example.

Oh boy, is it time for you to whine about 'muh moeshit' like you types always do?

I don't really have enough time for RPGs anymore. It would take me months so get anywher.

>JRPG tropes than anime tropes
JRPG tropes are directly based on shounenshit tropes of 80s-90s. Takahashi is a giant /m/fag. You're saying inane bullshit.

Attached: FMAB.jpg (1280x720, 133K)

I'm at work
Will play p5 later tho

Are you the fucking retard from the last thread who tried pretending that everyone who doesn't like haremshit and isekaishit just says random things but doesn't actually watch anime? You sound a lot like that retard.

Work

>reading

But there was no competition. When there's no competition, the childhood friend's actually win.

t. 3000 hours in some moba or fps

>JRPG tropes are directly based on shounenshit tropes of 80s-90s
Depends on the trope. Some are pulled from old D&D campaigns and/or spontaneous trends from within the JRPG genre itself.

Because 3 is superior.

>The Chosen One MC whose town gets attacked in the first chapter of a story is way more of a JRPG trope than an anime trope

Attached: 1546921009738.png (710x902, 746K)

I suck at FPS and don't like Moba. I used to have hundreds of hours in MMORPGs but that has been years ago.

The only jrpg I want to play right now is a Persona 3 remake but Atlus keeps shitting out P5 spinoffs instead

Attached: 1542967091821.jpg (627x470, 42K)

Is there a chance I'll like Xenoblade 2 if I hated the first game and dropped it after 20 hours?

>Ghibli as a representative example of anime
Holy shit.

That movie came out after DQ2, DQ4, the first two Breath of Fires, Lunar 1, Final Fantasy II, and a host of other JRPGs that utilized that trope to some extent.

Haven't found a good one to play for a good while now while procrastinating on playing Tits 3rd.

Waiting on Grandia remaster to replay my personal GOAT. I guess YS8 could be in the category too? Finished it recently and post-game depression's still there.

Attached: icri.jpg (400x515, 73K)

>Depends on the trope
No, it doesn't depend on the trope. Even the most mammoth shit old JRPG tropes can usually be traced to Tezuka, Nagai, Tomino or other fathers of the industry.

Called it.

The town wasn't even destroyed in that movie, the elders kicked his ass out because he got infected with demon aids.

Called what? You're a fucking retard who reads shitty machines translated LNs and thinks that everyone who calls out certain cliches and LNs for being shit just hates cute things. The retards like you that keep complaining inanely are always the ones who hardly even watch anime.

None of those.

>Haven't found a good one to play for a good while now while procrastinating on playing Tits 3rd.
Get on that shit, user.

>Even the most mammoth shit old JRPG tropes can usually be traced to Tezuka, Nagai, Tomino or other fathers of the industry.
Such as?

Attached: 081.png (1747x1222, 3.46M)

Where do I grind in pokemon FireRed?
I want to go and do the E4 rematch since I just finished Sevil. Battle facility doesn't give EXP

Most people only call it bad due to it being babbys first tails game and wanting to be contrarian.
Symphonia was overall pretty solid.

Tales of Destiny 1 and 2 are both great games, mostly for the story. Because the combat in tales games is generally 1:1

My first Tales was Eternia. Never got to finish since I was renting it.

i got tales of berseria when it was on sale Yea Forums told me it was shit but its been pretty fun so far Velvet is cute

Attached: sakimi-chan-velvet-crow-finalsmall.jpg (1920x1484, 859K)

based

Attached: ss.jpg (1920x2400, 1.56M)

Most of the hate that I've seen is residual hate for Zestiria, fans mad that it's not Vesperia PS3 (which they got anyway,) and the typical 'female protagonist = shit' garbage.

fragezeichenmödchen.jpg

I've played Kingdom Hearts Final Mix PS3 for 3 hours when I noticed that there's a PS4 version with supposedly better performance. Should I start over with that version?

No, it has similar enough gameplay that if you couldn't stand 1's you probably won't like 2's either

Is there a single good jrpg that doesn't require 50 hours of grinding? Also no faggot weeb graphics

>that doesn't require 50 hours of grinding
What fucking jrpgs have you played that required heavy grinding?

>Why aren't you playing an anime dating sim with shit combat
I haven't given up on my life yet

Just started Xenoblade Chronicles, story feels basic as hell so far but I enjoy it. Appearantly Fiora doesn't stay dead and I'm not sure how I feel about that. My bad for reading these threads I suppose.

That's a relief, I tried emulating it but I couldn't get it to run well.

X has fucked up textures and FPS with emulation, yeah.

I think I could somehow deal with low fps if it were just a case of it looking bad but it also seems to slow down the game and I don't feel like playing it in slow motion.

Nice, that's always a good one.

X has by far the best overworld and best exploration of any open world game to date, and far and away the best (I'd even say, the only good) sidequests of the series. I'm glad it tried new things and didn't just aim to be Xenoblade (2), I want the numbered and X series to actually feel different and aim for different design philosophies.

Attached: 1452669619222.png (1280x792, 1.24M)

Some user told me about a cartoon skateboarding game, so I'm playing that instead.

I want X to do better with the story and characters. Pulling what they did with Cross isn't really acceptable in this day and age.

>optional cutscene
0/10

Want to play cold steel 2 but autism demands i play throuigh the crossbell games first but the translations seems like it sucks so now i'm playing hitman.
Fuck jrpgs

They aren't bad enough to ruin the games or make them unplayable. Don't let nitpickers dissuade you from playing Crossbell.

WWWWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Based on actual faggotry.

How would you know? Do you know moon?

Trails doesn't have a ton of deep, intricate dialog that's subject to egregious misinterpretation.

That’s the best version so you’re good to go.

That didn't sound like an answer to my question. That sounded like a load of bullshit from a coping dekinai. I've seen side by side comparisons of the games posted here, and the translations fuck up plenty.
