Remove Half Life and its perfect

Fuck you.

Nahh, that was 2007

2004

I agree that Half Life is overrated

97 was better you fag. It had FF7, Tekken 3 and Castlevania SotN

nobody played your kids garbage consoles

Calm down, kid.

2001

>"Mom, look, I posted it again"

No, 2004 is

'99 was better
Heroes of Might and Magic III
System Shock 2
Comand And Conquer Tiberium Sun
Quake 3
Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver
Age of Empires 2
Planescape Tormen

Can we at least agree that 1996-2005 was the golden age of games?

Yes.

I can agree to that user
DMC3 makes the cutoff and most of my favorite games after that were made before it during that timeframe like diablo 2 pokemon emerald and THPS

>3 sequels

>mgs
>oot
>re2
Yea, I'm thinking 1998 was good

NFS3 is pure shit

>3 games that defined their genres and influenced video games for decades to come
ftfy

2001 was better. Arguably, so was 2017.
2007 is overrated.
Also this.

>Dune 2000
>Shogo
What the fuck are they doing here?

You left out the best game of 1998.

>2007 is overrated.
Meant for

>only western games

Actually, it was 1999.

Kurwa?

No kurwa, jak nie jak tak.

>a game being a sequel makes it bad
?

What's the point of buying new games when there's so much old gems and mods available?

I wasted years being hyped for new stuff and being intoxicated by consumption itself before I finally opened my eyes.

Same desu.
Mostly for old RPGs and RTSes.

Most definitely

Ages of wonder 3 is available for free on steam btw.

I know, already took it.

Push up to 2008 so team fortress 2 can be included in this and alright.

We can push it to infinity so that one or two other games can be included each year.

The list would be quite empty after 2010.

Ur mum is quite empty without my dick in her, m80.

No argument here

Same as your twin sisters have all their holes empty without me and my pals?
You're right fren.

I never really got why half life 1 is so popular.
Granted I only played 5 hours or so but I was pretty disappointed.
It's not a bad game but I expected more because everyone was hyping it up.
Just felt like a generic FPS to me.

Totally subjective. However I will say that since gaming became more readily accpeted and mainstream its creative element has suffered. Thankfully however crowd funding allowed indy groups to actually develop some great games 2010 or there abouts onwards. But the late 2010's did have some major dry spells.

get this shit outta here boomer

I don't see the best in that list.

It's generic to you because nearly every FPS that came after copied it. It set the standard as we know it.

You're right, I don't see Blood in it.

1999 is a close contender, but yes

Stop baiting zoomer and quit pretending to have done things you've never done. No one on earth in 1998 found hl boring nor played it only 5 hours.

IMO the golden age was from 1986 to 2004
Some of the best games of all time were released in the early 90s (Doom, FF6, Super metroid, the golden age of point and click adventure games)

>tfw twitch will never be as based as in pic related
zoomers ruined everything

probably

you were probably born after 1998.

And platformers too!

As based as goalposting?
k

I got my first job at Babbages/Gamestop that summer. It was fucking glorious.

the best year for zoomer faux-nostalgia maybe

t. 19 year old

mfw I only bought half-life to play zombie panic

Retard. Even if you didn't like HL1 it spawned so many excellant mods it deserves to forever be in gamings all-time top 10.

1996-2006 is the golden decade of games, prove me wrong.

>I dont get the big deal about this book, its full of cliches

'98 and '99 are back-to-back golden age of gaming. We will never achieve that level of soul ever again.

I dunno man, DLC is kinda neat.

Half Life is one of the first games to build a full immersive 3D world. Doom and Wolfenstein3D levels were mazes that existed to be videogame levels. Duke 3D featured more developed and interactive levels but was still an extension of Dooms design. Quake was fully 3D with modelled enemies and true verticality but failed to push the formula forwards otherwise. Half Life was revolutionary for deftly weaving the story and lore into gameplay rather than breaking it into cut-scenes (remember MGS also came out the same year) or just a paragraph in the manual like Doom.

I have never said I played it in 98 though. I played it 3 years ago.
no
I still prefer Doom or Wolfenstein and these are older. Maybe HL 1 was revolutionary in it's design like
said. But I don't think it holds upnas well nowadays.
Maybe I should give it another try though.

It has nothing to do with the 'immersive world' half life built
The game was more modular than any other game on the market, and probably still is to date.
Mods are still coming out, all kinds.
