It's easier than FRLG in pretty much every way
It also commits one of the worst video game sins in the process which is breaking it's own rules

if you take lethal damage sometimes your pokemon will just live with 1hp anyway and it only happens to you not other trainers
just a completely dumb nonsense thing the series has never done before just to make the game even easier than it already was

Thought it was fine. Only problem was it played terrible in dock since it wanted to force you to use the fuck terrible motion controls.

Other than that it gave a much more fun way to hunt for pokemon and shinies then endless breeding or waiting through endless random battle load screens.

And since it was trying a new idea in a new way I didn't mind it reusing an old area and not having all the pokemon like some other upcoming titles.

It's okay game as long you consider it a spin-off and belong to its own series because of different but very causal gameplay with Pokemon Go's catching. Overworld encounter is actually good and following/riding pokemon were cool.
I say this, but I never actually played it at all. I skipped it on purpose because I hates Go catching and was waiting for new main games. I know it has lots of opinions, but I still will buy Sword just for overworld encounter.
