I can't help but feel like I missed the train with this game. I bought it back on Realm Reborn's original release and played for about a month then got bored. I went back to it a couple of months ago and started again and realised the game so repetitive and boring.

Now is as good as ever. If you can't take it slow and enjoy the story and the small things though it's probably not for you.

Each expansion adds about 80-so hours of story content, and the patches add another 50-100 hours per expansion, so the sooner you start the less daunting catching up will seem. Most of the main scenario quest is made up of fetch quests, reading and cutscenes too, so if that's not your thing it may be hard for you to get into. The game also has a level sync system for dungeons, and incentives for high level players to do low level content, so you don't have to worry about no players doing early content.

After having played GW2, I just can't get back into traditional MMO combat that much. Trinity as well, I prefer the GW2 format where every person is largely responsible for their own survival.

BRD is ok, still has a few bits of useful utility left (improved DHit rates, 10% damage reduction for the party, increased healing potency for the party) but is not so heavily crit based as procs are based on % chance. AOE wise I would say the job is better than it once was. Only people that will still play BRD however are the hardcore BRD mains that will not switch for anyone, whereas others will go to MCH for the higher numbers and more stuff they allegedly have to do.

It does get good, it gets really good in fact. However, I’d never give it a wholehearted recommendation because having to invest 100+ hours into an average single player game in order to unlock a much smaller amount of good multiplayer content is an ass of a system. I wish I had friends to play with but I wouldn’t want to subject them to this unless they themselves really wanted to get into it.

If you see a PF that says "DPS south" it's most likely going to be a wipe party. It's better for DPS to go north during the adds part because it allows melee to get more uptime on the add instead of being all the way south and not hitting anything.
