It's the second game in its trilogy and most would say Rorona+ would be a better place to start, but you ultimately can start with Totori. It mostly just has some recurring characters, it doesn't heavily impact the coherency of the plot or anything but rather you'll miss out on that "oh, they're back" feeling.

Honestly I'm so fucking behind on my Atelier catalog.

MC's design is nice, but other than that it should be standard yearly release fare.

Play Rorona DX on whatever current platform you own. If you like that one, play Totori and Meruru next. Arland is generally seen as the most well regarded of the Atelier subseries, or at least of the ones that have been localized anyways. Mileage may vary going forward into Dusk and Mysterious and no one has played Ryza yet, which is the beginning of a new subseries.

Though it's kinda outdated, and I actually recommend the Arland trilogy first, as since it's the older one, you'll feel better progression going into the Dusk series. And the time limit isn't THAT bad, unless you want to go for 100% on your first playthrough.
Rorona is piss easy if you play casually. Just remember traits matter more than levels.

It's not completely unpalatable. Any of the ateliers are worth a pirate if you have nothing better to do. But it lacks the draw of the arland series, which fans of jrpgs should play.

It's not native 1440p. It's upscaled from 1080p. The Arland DX port is extra hilarious. Totori has arbitrary internal resolution support, while Rorona and Meruru run at 1080p internally no matter what.

They're all terrible. They run like complete ass and only a third of them have resolution support of any kind. Sophie and Firis were inferior to the PS4 versions. I don't understand what these clowns are doing. It's par for the course, considering they queef out these games in 12 months of development time.
