I would like to say that doesn't make sense, but it probably would turn out like you say. I'd rather have face buttons. Any fine aiming of the camera can be done with gyro, so your thumb is free to press the buttons anyway. In fact, I will follow your lead and remove the right stick and put horizontal camera control on the back to be sure developers can't mess it up.
