Finished the last story in Ys Origin, overall it was a pretty great game but I didn't like it or Oath as much as some of the Ys superfans I see on this board. Honestly I feel like 8 might be my favorite once I get to it, the multiple character style the next games use seems fun but I've heard 7 and Celceta are a bit rough compared to 8 which finally nailed it. Either way I'm excited to keep going through this franchise, it's been all good stuff so far.

Finally got overcame by hype and decided to start watching Attack on Titan to be caught up before the final season and I actually liked it way more than I thought I would. Back when the show started I stayed away cause I wasn't too interested but once Eren got his Titan powers the show got better in a way that's way more up my alley compared to the despair porn that was the first 8 episodes. I've heard it gets even better from here so I'm excited to start season 2 later.

P4G streamlines a lot of shit from P3 and that's great, but I felt the cast/s.links/story were weaker than P3 and since it's Persona is half VN/JRPG it means that I liked those parts of P3 more. If you love the cast/writing in P4 I doubt you'll like P3 more, but it's still worth playing. I like both. I'm looking forward to Royal.

Yes, definitely, if you care at all about true crime and the mob. It's dense as fuck and covers decades and decades of mafia history, so it's not a light read. The author has been a crime journalist since like the 70s, and he has a lot of insight about stuff like RICO and how it fucked the mob up.

Mother 3 actually has some QoL stuff to keep it fresh if you're normally averse to JRPGs. I'd give it a whack. If nothing else, the story is good enough to keep you invested, and it'll probably hit you super hard if you got emotional from the Toby Fox duology
I'd say move into SMT proper if you haven't already. Considering you already played P3 and 4, I'd say go into Digital Devil Saga (1 and 2 are two halves of a full game so play them as a pair) next. It's a great bridge between traditional JRPGs and Megaten proper.

I wanna get back in but I'm not entirely sure what to be working on for where I left my character. What would you recommend as major goals for someone with combat stats in the low-70's but only so-so confidence in my ability to do things like Master level quests. I've done some, mind you. I think I was working on leveling slayer and building up to Desert Treasure when I quit last. Mind you, I don't know most optimal modern strategies, in my mind Barrows is still new content somehow, dark bow and godswords for zoomzooms.

quest cape is usually a good goal to aim for, it gets you some decent stats and theres a lot of content locked behind quests

It's a safe point for most quests, since the highest level quests require stats in that range, but it's also a safe point for general combat, since it's good-enough to take on most of the tougher monsters, as well as stuff like God Wars Dungeons.

Would you maybe recommend any in particular for noteworthy benefits? I remember the cosmic and ancient spellbooks so I know to work on those, but yeah, my questing has been kind of sporadic. I made a fresh account last year after 11 years without playing, binged the game for two or three months, got to combat level 89, and then I just sort of ran out of steam and questing began to feel like a chore even in concept. But now I could go for a fun point-and-click adventure game like Monkey Island, and what is Runescape questing if not that shit? So, anything I should focus on hard around where I am if I haven't made the time for it yet, in terms of quests?

Fair. I'll have to do some grinding sooner or later, I suppose. I'm just not the biggest fan of leveling Slayer, so I avoid grinding that out with combat. It reminds me of WoW questing, except I have to pay a weirdly costly penalty if I dislike a quest and want a different one instead.

recipe for disaster for some of the best gloves in the game and should knock out a good 20 or so quests as you do it, people usually say this is one of the first things you should work towards
fremennik isles for one of the best melee helms
dragon slayer 2 unlocks one of the most profitable bosses in the game, as does monkey madness 2
theres a new grandmaster quest coming out in a week or two aswell which requires a few level 70s and the whole mournings end questline, finishing it will open up an entire new city
really its just a matter of finding something you want and doing what you have to to get it, the wiki will be your best friend when youre just starting out

Yeah, but it's generally worth it once you have a Slayer helmet and enough points to block shit quests. It's not great, but high level Slayer mobs can make you a decent chunk of cash for virtually nothing but the cost of more food, and even that can be cut out of the equation if you use Prayer or if you pray-flick the entire hour like me.

It's a pretty challenging game underneath the fat ass and big tiddy. It's a TPS Metroidvania with limited saves and multiple endings, as well as light horror elements with darkened rooms and its core themes. Not amazing but I think its price during the Summer Sale was worth it if that sounds good.

Well I'm not finished with season 2 yet but I can't really see how you could think so badly of it if you still liked season 1 after Eren got his Titan powers, since that seems to be where some people fall off. I'm 2/3 of the way in and it's still been as good as the first season, episode 7 in particular has the hypest shit I've seen from the show so far. So yeah based on my admittedly limited current knowledge I'd say it's worth it.
