Honestly only pvp games gave me goose bumps. Getting a high rank or clutching a game are the primary ones.
I wish the audio design in Ace Combat games wasn't so dreadful. Even if I crank up the music from the settings, it still feels like all the sounds are muffled together into a horrible mess. When they play a hype song, it should take center stage and play clearly over all other sounds.

Shit was gold at that moment, we had no idea how many times Akh Morn would hit, and they just kept coming and coming.
Music, plot, buildup. Everything was perfect at that.
And before the fight, Dragonsong kept on playing after cutscene, when you were standing on that bridge. Best moment in this game
The first PS1 game I ever played was FF7. When I finally got to link related it blew my mind -- at least the first time.
I kind of fell out of XIV about halfway through Stormblood (When Yotsuyu gets her memories back). Is Shadowbringers good enough to pick it back up again?

It's the Final Fantasy we have been waiting for since X (or IX).
After disappointing myself with XIII and XV, this hits the spot. Best story I have seen in ages, and it's in MMORPG. Characters get much deeper and get fleshed out. I really enjoyed talking with everyone during MSQ, when we were travelling together. And antagonist is done so well, that you feel sad when it's finally time to fight.
I highly recommend that you pick it up, you wont be disappointed.
And music rocks on, as usual.

First time I played mass effect. Everything blows up and they dig out everyone but you. They look back and know you are dead and begin walking away. Then the hero music starts and you run up the ruble. They all turn and look, you begin to limp down and a smirk grows across your face.
Or when you find that recording on Ilos, not virgil, but that one just after you have to fight the 4 colossus armatures. It ends with 'CANNOT BE STOPPED! CANNOT BE STOPPED!' when it was talking about the initial reaper invasion.

End of Halo Reach
Tonight...Gehrman joins the hunt.
youtube.com
That was a great set piece but I was more awestruck by the end. Particularly the top of the pool area before you dive down. The bizzare and beautiful golden light caustics playing over the cave walls. it was incredible
Fallout 1’s ending when everyone dies because you’re a fuck up. It’s far more impactful when you actually can save them but just didn’t succeed, unlike all the “every ending must morally ambiguous and equal” style that people eat up now
This absolute unit and the Army Battle, 3 consecutive normal battles and the duel against him
I got to agree. That moment really got me hooked as well
I can think of other examples, like the Fallout 2 final boss...
But currently, that one moment that made me feel goosebumps is kind of a weird one.
I played KCD mainly for the draw of Czech history.
And when I reached the ending, I fucking got goosebumps realising all the fates of all the characters like Hans after the events of this game and the plot of the sequel and seeing the game pretty much foreshadow it.
Everything in the game is leading up to the Hussite Wars, Godwin downright jinxes it by implying that Jan Hus being killed would cause a scandal and the church would never do it, he was wrong about the Church not doing it, but holy shit he was right about the scandal and the revolution that followed afterwards. Hans Capon will die a horrible death to the anti-Hussite Church sympathisers according to history, prompting Henry to take revenge and join the Hussites. Henry's real dad Radzig is anti-Hussite according to history, but also dies horribly, what Henry will do is a complete mystery, but holy fuck the amount of foreshadowing and build up gave me goosebumps and when Hans and Henry left on horseback to reach the nobles at the end of the game, I realised the hell that will follow them within a few years, and that those negotiations with those nobles is only the beginning of the war...
An example of something that actually got to me that wasn't just heavily implied would probably be Action Doom 2's intro and the first level, as well as the final boss fight. Hell might as well give the whole soundtrack that praise.
And lastly the one moment that still gets to me
Halo Reach's Last Stand ending. Hell any emotional doomed last stand in vidya gets to me, even garbage shit like FFVII Crisis Core.
Oh and also LISA's 35 Years Last stand, forgot to mention that.
for me, it has to be [extend arm]
You did this wrong, you’re supposed to grab up whatever useless territory you can while never actually completely destroying any of your enemies so the map is a mess of microstates, enclaves, and enclaves strewn about your bloated and unstable country that looks about as aesthetically pleasing as the HRE

That’s generous, you have to remember that all the teenagers on the internet say their age is nineteen because they want to appear to be old enough to post but not like they’re bumping it to the more obvious eighteen. Not that everyone saying they’re eighteen or nineteen is lying, just the fact that saying anything lower results in an instant ban kind of skews the results.

Everything after the Lvl 80 dungeon in Shadowbringers. I will remember him.
The ball landed on the tomb guardian and he grabbed it somehow. Tomb guardians are slow as fuck and have the lowest agility, so he couldn't dodge away from any of the dwarves. So those were 5 turns of setting up clever chain pushes to move the TG upfield and score on the last one

Came here to post this. The transition from phase 1 to phase 2 is what makes it. The soundtrack blindsides you while the screen stays black and you're just kinda bewildered at what's happening before the scene fades in on a second boss fight with an ethereal backdrop and Sephiroth descends from the top of the screen in his glorious aspect; then the game kicks it up another notch with the vocals at the approximate moment both sides trade their starting blows. Nowadays, it's obvious that the final boss is gonna have multiple phases, but this was my first video game and I was a dumb little kid, so getting my ass whupped by phase 1 only for another, even harder phase to come outta nowhere and finish me off was shocking. Even though I'm an adult now, I still appreciate the genius presentation.
The only way to top this is if there's a whole pokemon league of old protagonists.
epic larp for sadness bucks. VERY cool

I had that same moment, where initially I was just awestruck to be seeing the sky in a Portal game before the gears started turning in my head and I replayed all that dialogue about the moon in my head. I had a legit, Hollywood movie-style flashback and when the game went quiet, I wasn't sure if it was gonna work or if I had fucked up or something. That scene is brilliantly scripted because it got the exact reaction out of me that they wanted.
No idea what the context is, but I can already tell it's awesome.
god i wish valve had never gotten a store monopoly
it used to be the one, single company that:
1) had shittons of world-class talent consolidated in one company
2) was privately owned and unbeholden to any publisher

Oh I was talking about crosscode
We never found out who the G-man is or what he wants, did we? It wasn't in the HL3 story leak.
The real hype moment was the parade of team-ups with ff characters. Replaying it now, the abundance of cutscenes really drags the pacing down.
The final save point and James's monologue before fighting the pyramid heads combined with the soundtrack was the big moment for me.
It's hard to not get hype at that, even if you're not a smash fan, like me. The first time you hear the lyrics in the WoL trailer was also solid.
Yep. I was the biggest valve fanboy back in the day. I have pretty much given up on them now though. I was hoping their VR system would at least be subsidized or at a reasonable price point, and that it would have shipped with a proper flagship title from valve to save their reputation. But no, that was hoping for too much.
No. I am not too disappointed about it though. I am sure he is some higher-dimensional being and that is enough for me. I would have rather played through EP3, at any rate.
There was that HL1 source code comment that referred to him as "misunderstood hero of the people"

It is because you were... afraid
The whole final stretch was a spectacle, but when you fought Ansem, Xemnas, and Xehanort all at once, I think that's the moment Nomura's vision for the game is most fully realized. It's three final bosses teaming up to fight you at the same time and they actually have great synergy.
Fuck, I forgot to continue my play on this game

Always and forever this scene.
This whole finale gave me a wave of intense goosebumps that I had not felt from a game in years.

The moments just kept coming, one after another. Well worth the wait. After playing ff15 and kh3, it was nice to play a game that lived up to the hype.
Managing to get Ludwig to second phase firs try, watching that and then getting pulverized by an AoE arcane attack that lit my whole screen up. It was glorious. I got disintegrated
The spellcard right before this was the one that got me into shmups, but I didn't play this on lunatic until much later. When I finally got around to playing this on lunatic and got to this point, I was washed with a sense of fulfillment, like the circle had finally closed.

That prologue sequence of Far Cry 5 was the most "in the shit" level of a game I've played. Really got chills when the father takes the radio headset and tells the dispatcher everything is fine and she reveals she is one of theirs.

Crosscode is so good, I had forgotten about it until about half a year ago after playing the demo on gamejolt back in 2014? 2015? and forgetting about it.
Personally meeting Shizuka got me really good, with the new information getting me as well, even though I already predicted it from the previous bits in the area.
I'm married, and I never really understood how absolutely devastating this is until I had someone to lose. My wife was pregnant earlier this year, there were complications, she had to undergo an abortion and for three days it was touch and go. And the whole time I kept thinking "what do I do" if I were to lose her then. This game is to date the only horror title that managed to touch me in my primal fear spot, what if my wife were sick, it tore us apart and it made me kill her because I hated what the sickness made her, and what she had become. I can't even begin to process that line of thought.
Only shows how much your love for each other is real. Take solace that at least you have someone like that in your life that you can worry about.

more like reddit plays, because they get the mods to ban problematic posters and they schedule more difficult events for when the traffic is lowest and they can flood with their numbers.
Every Silent Hill game I've played has had at least one of these.
SH1 with Lisa
SH2 with the ending, specifically the part where you actually read Mary's letter
SH3 with the killing and the part where you're in confession

Near the end of MGQ Paradox Chapter 1 where you're running to escape the collapsing tartarus while La Croix holds off Adramelech and then Radio states something along the lines of "The Master's life-signs have ceased" while you're only around half-way out.
>scenes women can't understand
It was probably when the patriots were first talked about in MGS2. The thought of something like that existing is chilling. But of course something like it already does exist.
This one moment really makes the whole game for me.

Do you want me to acknowledge your existence, or your strength?
This whole part of the game set in me an emotion I didn't know I had.
Defeating Owl (Father) in Sekiro
Christ, so many attempts and so many failed parries finally gave way to glorious victory over the old fuck. Now he's one of my favorite fights in the game
Hearing this ingame for the first time gave me chills. Etrian Odyssey is great for going in completely blind, plenty hair-raising moments.

It's too bad the trailer kind of spoiled the encounter. But man that fight was amazing for several reasons.
This entire expansion.

Though specifically everything after the innocence fight is pretty chilling.
Never thought an expansion to an MMO would hit my list of favorite RPGs of all time.
That moment at the climax of Mass Effect 2 when Shepard is getting out of the Collector ship. That leap of faith was breathtaking
The part with Emil right after that hit me hard too.

American Venom in RDR2. Why did Yea Forums hate it so much? It really did give me goosebumps.
I like it alot when the protag overpowers/out-crazies the bad guys and makes them shit their pants
>No Ash Lake
I went into that place blind; just hitting the illusory walls because of the messages people left. I kept going down and down and down the root system wondering where this was taking me. When the music boomed and my view opened to the stone trees rising up into the mist out of an endless ocean, after being immersed in the game for hours, I was as close to being breathless as I have been in a video game. I had never seen a Hydra in game up to that point either and it made my mind run wild wondering what else could be living down there beneath the world.

Honorable mention to the City of Tears in Hollow Knight, though. I spent a good while sitting on that bench listening to the rain.

Epic fantasy settings are truly the best settings that could ever exist.
The actual best moment is when you go down that really long hallway in the hotel near the end, and he recalls a memory of Mary yelling at him in her frustration, telling him to leave only to get depressed and lonely, finally calling for him to stay and not leave her that she's afraid to die and be alone. That shit fucking kills me every time.
