Most men wouldn't have the strength to do so either. And the longbow wasn't nearly as good as people think it is against armored targets. The French were losing because they were disorganized rabble who charged willfully into defensive positions.
Most of the French (the regular soldiers) were wearing shitty armor, too. The nobles wore armor that could easily shrug off even direct longbow strikes and once armor production techniques improved the longbow went the way of uselessness.
Frankly, the longbow is one of those things that people have built legends on when the reality is far less impressive. There was a reason everyone quickly switched to muskets and it wasn't just because of the ease of use.
