Nah, I think they adapted and made the character customization smart in this game. They turned Corpo, Nomad, and Street Kid into actual background lifepaths that make your identity and start, and turned Solo, Netrunners, and Techies into classes and professions. If you think about it, it makes sense, what stops a Corpo from being a Solo who works for the suits, or a Corpo being a netrunning hacker? It's perfectly understandable for story NPCs. Let's say you kill an important NPC. He does not appear anymore in a major cutscene, which requires an entire separate script for the mission, as well as another separate script for every mission he would have appeared in.
Now let's say you kill a second important NPC that would have interacted with this NPC in many cutscenes. They would have to create alternate cutscene for this situation as well as all the other ones.
Do you realize how complicated and insanely expensive that would be?
