Something that always kinda bothered me with Daisy was how we never really got to see what kind of princess she was, who are her people? Why does this princess spend a lot of her time away from her kingdom?

Sarasaland is an empire consisting of 4 seperate kingdoms, and is geographically fragmented across mountains, deserts, canyons, oceanside, and fields. There are multiple different races, such as the Pionpi, Gao, Goombo, etc. Based on this information it is likely Sarasaland is an economic and geopolitical rival to the Mushroom Kingdom, as the geography of Sarasaland demands military expansion, most notably during the reign of Tatanga. Obviously this is why Daisy spends a lot of time away from her kingdom trying to keep the peace with their neighbors and avoid a massive war between the two powers.

Wasn't this whole daisy-luigi based on the movie? Like when I saw it I thought "why Peach fucking with Luigi" but turns out she was Daisy.

I'm a recent convert. I sided Peach in Smash all the way to melee, but her posture, animations indicating that she's just pumped to wreck shit and something more anemic than an aloof princess that just seems to come on top has made it for me.
