i stopped because when I farmed like 500 quartz for free over months and then didn't even get what I wanted, and the game asked for money to have a small chance of getting what I want, I realized I had to just stop playing. I love the game, how it plays, and how it functions. What I don't like is over necessary grinding for materials and such pathetic odds for anything good. JETS can only take you so far.

Also if you miss important events and miss out on really good 4* welfares like Kuro, you're basically fucked.

I played it back to back with azur lane and after like 2-3 weeks i had to give up on FGO, in that time frame i had rolled more SSR's in that game while in FGO i just rolled 2 proper units and not the bullshit buff cards that just waste your shit

The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of philosophy most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Gudako's sadism, which is deftly woven into her characterisation- her personal philosophy draws heavily from Chikamatsu Monzaemon literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of the series, to realise they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Fate Grand Order truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Gudako's existential catchphrase “I want a 5 star already!” which itself is a cryptic reference to Murasaki Shikibu's The Tale of Genji. The game isn't even that great aside from the story, which probably 1/2 of all mobile games drop after the tutorial. Some of the servants have some SHIT art, the kind most companies would never dare advertise as being in their game, but it's Fate so they get away with it. Events are grindy as fuck and pretty much require you to spend quartz for item boost CE's, which are usually garbage compared to the ones you normally have equipped. The only good events are the ones with damage boosts.

Quit cold turkey just after SERAPH launched. Spent all the quartz I had accumulated for free and got Meltryllis. Her design is so stupid it loops back around to being cool. It was then and there I realized that I was there more for the waifus and occasional weird aesthetic like the demon pillars and melt more than anything else, and the game itself was as boring as shit, so I stopped playing it. Fuck this game for making me expect an interesting story when it's mostly jargon that isn't explained and power level dick measuring.

I quit about a year into FGO NA. Everyone hyped up Camelot and it was kinda lackluster. There were a few good fights but it didn't make up for the increased inane grinding for mats.

You have a lot more agency in FGO. You could boil down the game play to "pick three cards" like Dokkan is "pick orbs" but there's a lot of team building, planning and strategy. It's closer to a more traditional rpg but it's still a mobile surprise mechanic game so don't expect the world.

Team building is actually interesting, moment to moment decision making is not really complex at all.

New-ish player here so take what I say with a grain of salt.
Strategizing pre fight is fun, actual combat is flashy and beautiul to look at for a gacha game though not very complicated. Story is kind of dumb fun, but also has some genuinely great moments here and there. Some of the lines are great too, in particular bants between certain characters.

Why are people so obsessed with "catching up" with JP? NA's only advantage (besides being able to read it) is seeing what banners are available ahead of time, so you don't get caught by bait banners as easily. Catching up would completely eliminate that advantage, and for what? So we don't get spoiled on the story that even JP can't understand because most of them are EOPs anyways?

NA has many issues, including gimped rewards, censorship, and a horrible PR team. But out of all those things, the one you want to focus on is the aspect that could be even remotely skewed as a positive?

I started playing just for Emiya, really. There are some cool Servants I like as well but they are few and far between. I'm glad Emiya turned out to be really fucking useful and gens crit stars like it aint no thang.
Blew all my quartz on Moriarty both times and got zilch. Did a few ticket rolls and a 30 and got Holmes. Hopefully I can get his rival eventually too.

The gameplay doesn't make me want to kill myself with boredom like FGO does, plus there's an autobattle button for farming.
4* rates are unfortunately only 1% but there's a pity counter where if you get 99 rolls without a 4* meguca your 100th roll is guaranteed to be one.
Also the current event is extremely gay and cute

To be fair, it does make getting an SSR all the more satisfying. I've rolled hundreds of times on FEH, and whenever I got a 5*, my reaction was less "OH MY FUCKING GOD YES", and more "About fucking time! 'Generous gacha' my ass!". It didn't help that most of the 3* units got powercrept every single banner, and dupes weren't nearly as useful, since you need a bunch of resources just to merge them, unlike FGO, where you can just merge them immediately.

Honestly it's better written up to a point. It most starts off as magicalgirl anime, but turns into the something more serious. I don't find the writing better at all. Visiting alternate universes and making antagonists into friends/allies is the base of all fanfiction and Prisma uses them heavily. This. The gameplay had potential but it feels a bit unrealized or skewed. Like sometimes it feels like the enemy has too much health or the CDs are too long or the buff durations aren't long enough. Rather than actually needing unique skills for mix and match you just buff the shit out of everyone and use a defensive one when you need.
