Gamefreak does have 3 attack animations, all they really have to do is make the pokemon walk up to the other one for any close range move and do that one specific kick or whatever.

I'd take some moves being queerly animated than having still models stiffly hop in their idle animation. It speaks volumes you have to nitpick in order to find flaws in Genious Sonority's battle animatios, while on the other hand every single time Gamefreak shows something with 3D it looks like complete ass.
