It is considerably more immersive so any genres that rely on immersiveness are helped by it (driving sims, exploration heavy games etc.) as well as just any racing games since they fit the concept so well.

I recently played like half of the campaign in Wipeout Omega Collection entirely in VR and it was amazing. On top of that, I was actually better at the game itself because I could more naturally react to turns and had a better sense of how to turn well. I even got the platinum for it.

I'm currently playing Skyrim VR and since it's the PS4 version it's not got mods, which sucks, but getting a sense of scale and more immersive presence helps make it feel fresh. It's been so long since I played vanilla that that helps too though.

Waiting for the big No Man's Sky update that adds full VR.

Oh and the anime girl stuff is amazing. I got a bit emotional at the Grand Order one since I like Saber a lot.

The "sitting too close to the screen is bad for your eyes" meme is just that. A meme. As long as your eyes can bring whatever you're looking at into focus, you're distance is fine. The problem arises when you're in the same spot all day looking at the same space in front of you. The muscles in your eyes focus on the same thing the same distance away over and over again. The muscles that move your eyes do the same small movements over and over and over again as you read left to right on this small thing in front of you that takes up only a fraction of your field of vision. It does the same motions over and over and over and over again, and this causes repetitive stress injuries -- the only type of eye damage causally linked to computer use. It has nothing to do with the light coming off of your computer screen or anything to do with computers themselves, you could still damage your eyes like this if you were to look at the same painting from the same chair for hours and hours every day.

But with VR, you don't look in that small field of vision where your monitor is, you look all around. Your eyes aren't constantly converging on the same spot 2 feet in front of you, the virtual objects in the virtual space have wildly different points of convergence so the muscles your eyes get to converge at all sorts of differences. However, the focal length to the screen remains constant, so the muscles in your eyes are still doing the same repetitive tasks.

In short, there are 3 behaviors that contribute to repetitive stress injuries caused by computer usage. VR alleviates 2 of them. It's less damaging than regular monitors, provided you give your eyes the same ~30 seconds of rest for every ~15-20 minutes of use as is recommended with standard monitors. There is zero research and are zero studies that causally link proximity to the screen to ANY sort of eye damage, not just repetitive stress injuries as described above.

Oh, additional caveat here. The human brain has never had to deal with its eyes' focal length more or less remaining the same while they converge at different points in space. In the real world, focal length is always directly tied to the point of convergence. This can give some people headaches, make them feel dizzy or lightheaded. But it goes away after 10-15 minutes, tops. If they stick with it, most will eventually adapt to it over time.
