Vesperia has an awful story, characters, and gameplay. Berseria has best characters, decent story, and fun gameplay.

Agreed. Apart from a couple of mildly interesting characters the entire game feels empty. The game world especially feels like it exists only to pad out the distance between boring set pieces, it's bland as hell and there's nothing interesting to discover.

Berseria, it has a better cast and better party dynamic and skits. For a tales game this is the most important bit.

Why do people ask about games that have demos? Play it out a bit to find if it's worth your money you fucker.
I say this because I got the demo from Berseria and it saved me a bunch of dollars. What a shit game.

That depends on what you're comparing it to, other Tales games? Then no, it's a good game. It's got some seriously outdated gameplay, imo, that forced you to grind nonsense for the sake of grinding, backtracking, limited window quests and this is all based around the notion that you'll play the game mulitple times through. This comes from an age where there were 10 games released a year and you might play 2 or 3 if they sparked your interest. No one has time for that shit now. But it's definitely not a bad game.

Berseria is much more updated but I think the story is stronger in Vesperia (both are not excellent stories).

Whys everyone hating vesperia all of a sudden? I just finished it today and it was a good time.

You need a brain tumor to not enjoy Berseria, and apparently 95% of the tales fanbase has brain tumors. I haven't played Vesperia yet, I don't play many JRPGs but Berseria's cast was strong enough to hook me in right away from start to finish. Not sure if it's the best, but it's definitely great.

English version is no longer Xbox-exclusive so you've got a mix of Xboxfags and people who think playing games in Japanese makes them special teaming up to shit on it. Happens any time a relatively niche game gets a big English release.

Because the hype for it is greatly fabricated over the notion that the game is the "best tales game ever made" which is is not, it is far from it as possible. Vesperia doesn't do anything well, nothing.

I played the demo on PC a while ago, too and passed on it because it looked so shit. Then someone gifted it to me when it was part of the humble monthly bundle, played it a bit to be polite and got immediately hooked. It's a great JRPG for reasons and aspects of the game that are completely absent from the demo.

Vesperia is better if because the story is better paced, there's more sidequest stuff to do, and the combat system is less frantic and uselessly busy.

probably people like me who only played it recently when it came to PC. I paid full price for that shit and I was not pleased with a lot of the game. I like Tales games but I can see where the criticism comes from. Ultimately this is scamco and they publish some very subpar shit. Tales is one of the better titles they have but there isn't a single game (that I've played) that isn't hampered by some serious issues. I think Abyss is the clear front runner in the entire series and there were multiple cringe and eyeroll moments, frustrations, etc when playing through it. In some parts it's just plain hard to sit through. I have some small hope for this new Tales of game they're making, we'll see.

The point is that Yuri claims that he's the guy who will do what's best but he can't put down Estelle or Flynn when you is told that it would be better to end them. If you aren't going to fo through with being the dark avenger, don't present yourself as such.

Well, Berseria is a Graces-style game while Vesperia is a more traditional Tales game.

I thought it was fun at first when I played it on PSP until an enemy OHKO'd out of nowhere.

The story is trash, it goes nowhere for two thirds of the game. Yuri dragging his ass around his dull world because Estelle wants to kiss babies across the sea isn't engaging or interesting. Yuri murdering cartoon evil caricatures because he is the DUDE isn't compelling because the guys are literally the worst things ever spawned on that planet. Most the of the characters are insufferable. Rita is a mega cunt and Karol is her extreme opposite, a mindbogglingly annoying pussy bitch who won't man up in a timely manner.

Haven't played Vesperia, but Berseria isn't worth anything. Motherfuckers overhyped it because it had a few decent characters, giving it more redeeming qualities (1) over Zestiria (0)

Actually, a lot of people have said it kind of falls apart around the 3rd act. And I kind of have to agree.

It's like "oh shit, they killed Alexi but we still need a villain."

Duke's motivations for doing what he did were understandable, but it still felt like they made him a villain the last minute.

I thought the dichotomy between the characters was interesting. At least until they pulled a GoW3-style plot twist.

It couldn't fall if it was never up. Every time Vesperia would attempt to get interesting, it would spoil it with stupid bullshit. The guild stuff was interesting until Alexei did it all.

I liked the first 2 parts better than the third too. Duke as an enemy felt shoehorned in for sure. He should've come around without fighting since he already let Yuri play with Dein Nomos for so long. I would've liked it better if there was an actual fight against the adephagos.

Berseria is unplayable without mods to increase the movement speed
