I don't know man I play Balanced/Acceleration and sometimes Speed if the map demands it, I tried playing Turning the other day and felt like I was intentionally gimping myself moreso than playing Balanced, the turn radius is so bad that snaking was near impossible and I'd often fly into walls because the lack of speed + tight turning meant I'd misjudge every single angle and racing line.

Pretty much exactly what's happening to me.

Depends on the track, some tracks turning characters are just fated to be raped on no matter how well you play (unless everyone else is a retard). What you need to know about turning characters is that you will NEVER outspeed anyone on straight segments of track, so you need to just do perfect boosts round every corner. Tiny Arena is a good track for turning characters, accel and speed need to make use of techniques like air brakes and uturns to not lose speed on that track, so focus on just taking every turn as tightly as possible while consistently getting perfect boosts and so long as you maintain sacred fire no one will ever catch up to you except for pro speed players, and they’re surprisingly quite rare. Also turning characters do great on tracks with lots of USF, as the speed difference between classes in USF is practically negligible given how easy it is to maintain it as a turning character, most of the time you can just drift normally and very rarely do you need to bunny hop or air brake to not hit a wall.

Unlikely, they were designed without CTR’s drift mechanic in mind and are basically shooting galleries. Besides, the director has already said that the new tracks in Gran Prixs are inspired by CTTR tracks and Warped levels. Twilight Tour is a mix of Pyramid Pass from CTTR and the Arabian/Egyptian levels from Warped, and Prehistoric Playground is a mix of Fossil Fuel Injection from CTTR and the Prehistoric levels from Warped. I expect they’ll pick one track from each of the remaining CTTR hubs and match it to a Warped level theme so there’s an original track for all five CTTR hubs that also corresponds to Warped levels.

Is there a way to get better at shortcuts with handling characters? Shortcuts like the one on Cortex Castle or Blizzard Bluff that require a long jump with momentum. With speed and acceleration characters I nail them 100% of the time, but the handling ones seem to really lose steam when jumping. They can't keep momentum at all. I want to main Liz!

Every class can make the shortcuts, but yeah genuinely it’s a lot harder to nail them as handling. For the two you described I try to make sure I get 3 perfect boosts before jumping. Making sure the amount of time between jumping and the last boost is minuscule.

Turning characters HAVE to git gud to make those. You need high reserves (possibly SF) for blizzard bluffs and to at least get some perfect boosts before the cortex castle jump. I've even tried blizzard bluffs with a mask and low to zero reserves and missed it.

I'll have it by tomorrow but now I gotta fuck around with 15 days of percentile upkeep. It's like fucking WoW dailies all over again.

The voice acting is really my only real complaint about this game. All over the place is correct.
Tropy, N. Gin, Uka, Geary, Oxide, and Pinstripe are all pretty bad to me, and total downgrades.

I honestly can't go back after taking the Speed-pill. Everything else feels slow and un-optimized. I don't need high acceleration as long as I'm not making stupid mistakes and u-turns/airbraking is all the handling I'll ever need, the lack of it makes straights so much more consistent. Sometimes I might switch off for a race or two, but I always almost immediately go back because I know I could be going even faster if I was Speed. Even tracks like Tiny Arena and Cortex Castle with constant hairpins, I prefer Speed because I love the challenge of taking hairpins as fast as possible with proper u-turns.

I find tiny temple and deep sea diving (except the very last section with the double rng blade hidden behind a turn) the easiest tracks to practice USF

I made one because it was funny and wanted to see how many people I could accurately stereotype. There were a lot of obvious ones but there were just as many that I had to wing it on since I don’t see those characters talked about. Komodo Joe was one that was pretty difficult to write about since I’ve never even seen one online.

Speedboosting on turn/balanced characters turns you too much, cant drive well with them.

Tiny Temple for practicing holding it for entire laps, the new lap for more tricky turns + two different tiers of USF, moving on to N. Gin Labs for trickier turns. Cortex Castle is good practice for building reserves and some more complicated turning, while Hot Air Balloon stage forces you to git gud at air braking or u-turning to make the shortcut.

Electron Avenue is also good practice for all of the things above, but is overall not a very hard track to maintain USF on due to the abundance of turbo pads and wide track/turns. Very fun to min/max though.

If you just keep doing the dailys every day and your online coin bonus limit, you'll get it easy, most people won't get motorsport, and even more will quit afterwards. As long as you stay consistent, more and more people will be logging on and getting put on the leaderboards, making your ranking effectively higher as long as you're not dropping.

I found that I tend to be able to dodge both sets of blades more often if I'm coming at it from the inner wall about halfway through in height and then getting down to ground level for the second.

With uturning (without jumping) you lose some speed because you are braking on the ground, but if you do it right you keep your reserves. With airbraking you keep both speed and reserves because you brake in the air.

Well the sequence of buttons to press is the same:
always keep down pressed
release brake before releasing down (never be in a situation where brake is pressed while down isn't)
never brake and accelerate at the same time

The only difference is pressing R1 to jump. Good players can do the down+brake turn in the timeframe of a R1 hop without needing a ramp, I can't so I just Uturn on the ground.

It's possible to u-turn on the ground with the same combination, down + left/right + brake, however if you let go of brake before down you'll lose your reserves instantaneously. Air braking obviously can't be done on the ground.

Oxide is easier than platinum relics unless you do them in easy adventure mode.
Relics are cancer, they force you to drive shitty paths because you HAVE to get all the boxes, even the ones in the air in the middle of the dirt after a tight turn (yes I'm looking at you dragon mines)

Nitro from online races is fine. The problem is the stupid bonus from the GP stuff.

I like to think this was intentional because in the original CTR you could airbrake the same way.

It's the opposite for me, I'm gradually becoming better and better at keeping reserves and doing hard turns that now I can sometimes beat all those players that used to DNF me without mercy only one week ago.

That's the problem for me, everyone knows how to play the game now so it's constantly fighting all these other speedrunners tooth and nail to even get a chance at first place, and that's not even accounting for the item spam that fucks up my groove almost constantly. But the thing is, I wouldn't even care that much about this if so much wasn't tied to playing online, because I get plenty of fun out of the singleplayer. I basically mean the whole thing about Online being the only way to get wumpa coins at a non-insanity inducing rate and also some of the GP missions being tied to it like the "Finish the last lap starting in last online" challenge. Who thought that was a good idea at all considering this game's community? Yeah sure you can cheat by fucking with your wifi to get a.i racers instead but that's cheating, I shouldn't have to do that. I guess part of the fun factor for me stopped once I realized the only way to get anywhere quickly in this game is just putting up with so many speedrunner autists and maybe occasionally getting paired up with people I can reasonably fight if I'm really lucky. I can only hope this gets addressed 'somewhere' down the road because they still haven't added microtransactions and yet they still have this really shaky economy. I really do not get it. "Technically" is the same, but worse. For example, your jumps feel really heavy, there's no reserve system, so if you're not constantly boosting you immediately lose all your speed. It's still fun, but it's not as good as the original CTR.

After carefully testing different karts in time trials I've finally come to the conclusion that the top 3 best karts in the game (taking into account both the design and how the kart feels to drive, with emphasis on the latter) are Bandibuggy, Team Oxide and Crikey. If you main any of these, you're based in my books.

And the worst? Well, that's of course Deadinator. It feels like shit to drive. A shame really since it has some really nice decals.

All it takes is doing most of the themed, pro, and weekly challenges, and keeping up with some of the dailies. It's like an hour a day.

You can do them in two seconds with a second controller, don't be a dummy.

Yes, it's finicky. Start reversing on the end of the previous lap, never stop, never go off road, never hit anything.

Double check your challenge list too.
I've had challenges not show up at the end of a race, but were completed when I checked the list.
