Yeah odo's subspecies is pretty lame design wise. I hope electro anjanath is a relevant monster to fight, I like his design, but I can't remember the last time I fought a normal Anjanath for any reason. That's a problem I have with World, it doesn't have a huge roster, but what really kills it is that too many of the monsters there are completely pointless to fight. Jyurtados, Paolumu, Girros, you fight them once in the main quest line and then pretty much never again.

Game Informer let slip that you fight a "blind bat monster" in the ice caves and one of them said it was one he used in Monster Hunter Stories, so it's most likely Khezu, but some people think the guy might have mistaken Gigginox for Khezu instead.

We know from Game Informer that there is a mysterious unrevealed monster in the caves of the new map.

I never really spent any time on ATs, I just sort of got bored after Lunastra and Behemoth annoyed me enough to make me just wait until Iceborne. Personally I feel that World is a flawed game but is better than GU overall. GU has a lot of fun high quality monsters, but the game has too many issues in it, too many shitty monsters, (you notice how all of these comparison pics always only show the top tier ones like Astalos, Glavenus, Valstrax, etc. despite the game having 93 monsters?), and too many balance issues which don't just come down to "the game is easier". In World the balance issues make it so that you can kill monsters way too easily and you have to farm dumb shit like Behemoth and Kulve. In GU the balance issues make it so that large gameplay mechanics which would've been fun to use are discarded because they're significantly worse and those issues make it not fun to play around with.
You could make an argument over them not being that similar, but they're both big slow sweeping monsters which use slow, strong attacks with long windups. In the details, they're pretty different but at their core concept they work similarly

True, it's not but it should be.
I imagine something like the ability to upgrade all armor to endgame level of stats, like with a flat roof. Low end gear would then cost a lot more to upgrade to the top because they have more upgrade road to travel which is exactly what we have actually. Unfortunatly it doesn't go far enough and a pukei piece will never be good even at max upgrade level.
Anything to make more monsters relevant to fight and it removes one of the needs for layered armor.

Basically any animal to ever have an adaptation like that did so because it allows it to pump blood through the thin skin membranes and help them cool down. It's the reason why elephant ears are so huge, for example. It only does this when it's enraged and shooting fire, so it makes sense. And vultures have an incredible sense of smell, which plays into the nose thing. Really the only leap in logic with the thing is that it shoots fire, but it's hardly out of place in monster hunter.

I have pretty high hopes for the layered armor this time around. It probably won't be as good as full transmog, but basegame World didn't even get layered armor until Kulve came out (not counting the deluxe game stuff). Now that it's an established thing (and we saw some new layered armor in the trailer probably achievable pretty early on), we might get a good amount of armor (and hopefully monster armor) just by playing Iceborne (like how room decorations seem to work for the most part).

They really should change the quest system. Make it so that it's mostly like the old system, but key quests are marked as key quests, and optional quests are marked as optional. This way, the problems of both sides are fixed. World's problems, that you have to do the story quests in order, you are allowed to skip a lot of monsters, certain monsters are pointless to fight because you are too strong by the time you're allowed to fight them, etc. and the issues with the old system, that you have to just use external sources or guess in order to progress

Nergigante isn't the strongest elder dragon but his entire deal is that he kills other low-level elder dragons. A monster like Valstrax, while really cool, is still on the same general level as Kush or Teo. My idea would be a large bladed, metal fan. In, MH, there exist roars (sound), wind pressure (wind), and tremors (earth). These are sort of like indirect elements that don't do damage and only monsters use. Therefore, it would be cool if we had weapons that encompass each. Right now, HH encompasses "sound". A new fan weapon would be wind. There could be a mechanism in the weapon thats shoots out some sort of special powder as you swing it and it would travel a short distance before bursting into a blast of it's corresponding element. This would very much be an elemental weapon. Then you'd also have various slash attacks. The bursts of wind and elemental energy would also deal good stagger and/or exhaust, especially against airborne monsters.

Iceborne already has way more monsters than I expected given the track record for previous games and how tiny the roster was for World initially. I was jaded and didn't expect anything but now I'm hyped to go hunting with friends again. MHW is also the first game that almost all of my friends own, despite them normally being complete cheapskates. Before this I only played the previous games with a group of 6 friends. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would be playing MH with over 20 of my friends, it's surreal.

I like his design. I have a very specific problem that nobody else seems to have, Which is i feel he has barely any openings. When hes staggered, knocked down, or trapped, it just feels like he gets back up way too quickly for me to even get a hit in. I've been playing MH since 2006 and i never really had this specific problem with a monster before, so i dont know what it is

I miss the noise his hammer did when charged. His hammer is what got me into MH, and World is a big disappointment.

unironically this. nergigante jho and rajang are the best monsters lore wise, im not going to get into design and gameplay but they hit the right tropes for me story and presentation wise. special mention to bazel too

It's fine if you're just hungering for a ton of MH content, but the mechanics feel stiff after coming from World imo. I say this as someone who played every MH game since PSP, World's controls are so much nicer.

I think if they added it to World they could make the gameplay a lot less linear. Allow control of the ship for example.

the core of the game is the same.
things to keep in mind.
it is a much slower game. multiplayer is fully based around the hunter hub. no starting the quest and getting people to join mid hunt.
you have to get all quest prep done before you leave the hub. you can not eat/get items/change gear once you start the quest.

I DID fight AT Kirin with a shitty clownsuit before i fought Behemoth so maybe that's why it was harder for me
