Lamar was the one thing holding franklin back, but other then that he isn’t important enough to matter. Franklin moving past him probably should have had more time devoted to it, but from my perspective it makes sense.
Trevor is the dragging Michel back and is the only one of the group that won’t move on and will drag the others down with him. Lamar is a lesser version of that for Franklin.
At least that’s how I interpreted it considering killing Trevor is the best ending to me

Franklin was the best character in GTA5, I'm replaying it now and I'm just realising how good the writers' work was with him (while completely fucking up the main missions - the story's all over the place and probably the worst of the 3D GTAs).
They somehow nailed this cross between a black dude from the hood who's trying to get his shit together and work his way both in and out - unlike CJ - at the same time, like says.
On the other hand, 90% of Yea Forums likes Trevor a lot, but to me he's pure cringe. They try to make him this sort of badass anti-hero but he just ends up being a bifaceted crazy Mary Sue.
